I understand that people in Cedar Mill go here because they have money and no where else to go. Outside of that reason, there is really no excuse. I would write a long review, but its more effort than is deserved, so let me just make a list. First, the good: I think the tables and chairs are pretty attractive. Now, the bad: service was subpar, as we were ignored initially, servers behind the counter avoided eye contact and any sort of personal effort. It was nice being reminded I was just another person in a line. There are no garbages available aside from the restroom, just over full dish bins. The food was overpriced and bland. $7.50 for an egg sandwich that didnt even have butter on it? Not even an offer to heat up the pastries- they just came right out of the display case on a cold plate. Even Starbucks offers to heat up the muffins. I guess if I am in the Cedar Mills area, I will be sticking with Starbucks, where at least I feel like they are interested in serving their guests.

Having never been here, I thought it was an actual bakery from the sign. Its actually more of a coffee shop that sells baked goods, like: breads, cookies, Muffins. I had tea and a chocolate chip cookie. The cookie was great, moist and chewy, with lots of flavor. The iced tea tasted like tea you would brew at home, but wasnt very cold and had little ice. I didnt see a garbage can, and I wasnt the only customer who was confused as to where to put my trash when it was time to leave, because I found trash in several places. Overall it was a bright place, with good seating. The price was high for the amount of tea I received (higher than Starbucks!). The price of the cookie, while high, was worthwhile.

Simple cafe style sandwich, salad, & soup menu with a mid-sized selection of house baked goods including muffins, breads, cookies, pastries, etc. Order the Turkey + Chutney sandwich (decent price of ~$9), which was what I expected, plus the additional delight of a rather savory chutney. Their chocolate chip cookie also slightly above par. My girlfriends veggie sandwich and ginger-carrot soup were a bit underwhelming in my opinion, yet seemed to satiate her appetite sufficiently. The staff were very friendly and polite, maintaining a clean dining room with minimal mess being left unattended. Pleased overall and will return again someday soon. Thanks! Best, ~S

Given the overwhelming success of this new bakery the message of the people is clear: We want more of this. So please Grand Central Bakery, open more bakeries in 97229. The demand is huge and the lines are too long. If it is a matter of having money available upfront, try crowd sourcing or prepaid pastry cards. But please .... get it done. The fruit tart I had today was so delicious I almost cried. There is no other place I know (except in France) that offers such simple and perfect delight.

Ive gone to grand central in the portland are for several years. Im happy to have one out here now. I always get the veggie grinder and occasionally also get a coffee and a pastry in the mornings. Ive also tried several of their specials and am always happy with the taste and quality. Grand Central is always pretty busy and this location so far has lived up to that. Dont plan on going in if youre in a rush because it does take a little while.

Love this bakery chain and happy about new location! That said, I went here with friend first time today. Cookies and bread usual good quality. Pork sandwich and friends salad with tuna? were both sub par. Didnt finish them. I wouldve turned it down if free and at $9 a sandwich, it better be amazing. Ill try another before I write them off entirely for lunch items. Still sad about best location closing near yeon.

This place has the best sourdough loaves Ive ever had! No exaggeration. They bake fresh daily. Unfortunately they often sell out of loaves by the time I finish commute home from work. Not to worry because you can call ahead early in the day and ask them to hold you one. My only complaint is that the parking lot can be hard to turn into and the small lot can be pretty full on weekends.

Pork shoulder sandwich was burnt, one employee making hot food and slow. Pastries without flavor. $7 egg and sausage biscuit was bland. Lack of quality in everything I have tried. Was hopeful the west side would get some quality eateries, what a disapointment. This place has $50 of my dollars and wont get any more! location was better as a 7-11!

Great food and a cute eating area. One complaint is that when you pay with credit or debit, the machine makes it hard to not tip; this means that most likely you will end up tipping. The people working in the bakery are not working any harder than what their paycheck expects them to do so asking for a tip seems a bit wrong.

I love getting fresh bread that is in Cedar Mill. I especially enjoy their $2 loaves on Tuesdays, though their loaves never run above $5. I would stay shy of their meals as they are on the expensive side, though. The only other complaint that I have is that it can get very busy and the wait can be long.

The bread & service is outstanding. I have updated this review from 3 to 5 based on consistently great service, which has since negated a single poor experience. The prepared options are lackluster, and the line is often long - but I cant knock them for that if Im not visiting for the sandwiches.

Ok this place is straight-up amazing. They have plenty of seating, but that is often filled up, especially around late morning. However you could ask to share someones table. It can also be hard to get parking in their lot, but you can park at Bales grocery store and walk over.

Their price on tea drove us away, just hard to sit in with a pastry or two without spending a bunch on a drink to go with. I think it was $3 or $4 for just a cup of hot water and a tea bag. Everything else was great though.

Coffee was perfect (drip and espresso), bread is consistently great, and the sausage egg chutney biscuit is to die for. (If you show up early enough that they havent run out of biscuits. :)

All things considered, they need to sharpen the bread cutter more often or something, and not try to hand me smashed bread... staff is nice/ mixed and its a little on the pricey side.

An absolutely amazing bakery with a huge selection of crusty breads and tempting pastries. The line moves quickly because the staff is not only very nice, but efficient.

A bit pricey, but not surprising considering the location and totally worth it for saving the trip to downtown. Pastries and breads were fresh, with friendly staff.

Good bread and croissants, yet skipping this place for lunch. Almost empty inside beef torta for $8.50 , very small cup of soup 4.50, looks like a scam to me.

Always excellent. My only complaint... They dont open early enough. If stop often but I cant get downtown to work because they open too late
