I have been to many mcmens and this by far is the crappiest. My rule is 4 times until you can judge an estanlishment. I have been here 4 times and every server I have encountered does not get my order correct, nor do they seems to care. I have been a server and usually this means two things: bad management due to hiring your friends or management is making everyone really unhappy. Most recently I waited for 10 minutes while one employee was conversing with a friend. I cleared my throat and he finally said sit anywhere. Every table was dirty from prior eaters. I sat down and moved used items to the corner of my table and waited another 5 minutes until some one served me. Each time I have been here I have been nice and understanding because stuff happens and restaurant goers arent easy to deal with, especially at a college setting. I have tipped well each time over 20%. However nothing changes. These guys are more preoccupied with their buds and attractive women than serving. I feel like I am seen more as a pain in the ass than a nice customer. Im done with this place.

I am a huge fan of McMenamins -- I know the family, I love the use of historic NW buildings, and the Ruby is the only beer I willingly drink (I am more of a wine-o). Moving to downtown Portland, I was very excited that Market Street Pub was within a few blocks of my apartment, but I was quickly disappoingted to find that service could be spectacular one visit (thank you Beth & Kim!) and be horrid the next (I was once seated and ignored for 20+ minutes). That said, the happy hour makes it worth visiting. (Happy hour is 4-6 & 10-12 daily, even Saturdays!) Where else can two people each get a good burger, a beer or two and split an appetizer for less than $20 including tip?!? It is worth a try... I just wish you luck that you happen upon one of spectacular servers, not the slow-as-molasses-servers.

An excellent example of a McMenamins! I would often frequent this McMenamins when I going to PSU and would like to grab a bite to eat after class, but now that I have graduated I still like to visit. There usually not a lot of people at this McMenamins and I dont know why, but whenever I visit there is plenty of sitting available, I usually visit late at night which might be the reason. One of my favorites menu items is the Terminator Milk Shake. Its delicious and a must order if you visit. The servers are all very kind and helpful. I visited recently with a friend and one of the servers offered to make a item that wasnt even on the menu. Awesome! Another server was helpful about telling my friend and myself about The Chapel McMenamins and the history of the location.

The Market Street Pub is a great place to grab a meal/pint if youre in the PSU area. The service is friendly and fast. The food and drinks are McMenamins dependable. Ive often found myself here for a meal/pint when Ive been downtown from an appointment during the week. They have a great little patio. Sometimes on a Sunday when the weather is dreary and the day is slow Ill pop over to Market Street. It is really central location, and It is pretty easy to find parking close by when things are slow. I have no idea how it is on a busy evening/weekend. But, with its location Id imagine it can get busy. I imagine it is a fun place to be then too! If Market Street was my destination when the area was busy Id take the train!

Horrible with a capital H!! Never have we had quite an experience...truly! Our waiter appeared put out to wait on us and tell us the soups of the day until he was ready...when he did and took our order, it not only was 45 minutes until he let us know our good was on its way, but when he finally brought it, my wifes food was wrong, cold and mine (Patty melt) came with no cheese but two slices of cheese on a separate plate....what the heck?! My wifes sandwich was to be on gluten free bread but came on a bunch (he had told us they also had gf bread but then denied that)...crazy experience! Horrible service! Horrible food...well not be back!

If this wasnt such a microbrew capital then Mcmenamins would be considered pretty good... but in this mecca it gets a "not bad" rating. The service is slow, and other patrons are usually college students, often on their laptop using the wifi or the contents of their dramatic gossip. But, the happy hour is dirt cheap, and when the weather is nice sitting outside in the patio and being patient with the slow service it really is not bad. And, the food is better then the Rogue in the nearby vicinity, so Ill take this as a neighborhood dive that isnt too divey at all.

I dont know why the City of Portland (myself included) continues to be surprised by the lack of effort in the service provided by the McMenamins staff. Time and time again we are treated with little respect and the essence of time does not exist. The food and beer are "fair" at best compared to the 100s of other local breweries and eateries. If you still insist on frequenting this establishment dont say you werent warned.

Unbelievably bad food. Tasteless, greasy, and tough. Cant believe I actually paid for it (which is probably why I feel so impassioned to write this awful review). The service was slow and horrid (mind you this was at 11:30 in the morning, so the place was not busy). Server never checked on us, got us refills, or brought us the check (after 10 minutes I finally went to the register to pay). I would NEVER go back.

Stopped in at 5:45 for dinner before catching 7:30 show at Keller. Guessing that waiter forgot to put in our order (fries and tuna salad). 6:30 rolls around, no food, super hungry tween and not enough time left to sort it out. Sweet girl filling waters brought my kid some crackers as we left. Food order taken off bill, apologies made. If youre on a timeline, consider other options.

Unfortunately not great service (messed up food order, was given bill after dinner without asking), but that could happen anywhere with a newbie or a moron server. Food was quick and good value, fries are awesome. Beer selection was okay. Out of the way location, smelly depressing decore, but open late Im told. Ill keep looking.

Its a McMenimins with a good outdoor space for the summer--which is what I like it for. Also close to my office, so convenient for post work meet ups. Othewise, nothing stand out about this establishment and just a typical McMenimins, which Im not really a fan of. Good prices, but poor service, which can be slow and inattentive.

Food and beer was great but service sucked! After initial contact from our waiter we waited about 20 minutes before before we had to ask to order food. Food took another 30 minutes, then I had to send my food back because it was prepared the way I asked. Sad that a well known place like McMenamins can give such bad service.

Good burgers and fries. The staff is very cool, I can always talk to them and they are kind. The burgers are done just how I want and ask for. They have a good selection of their own beers, ciders, and hard liquor. Their rum is great and their beer is unique in its own way. Try it out for yourself.
