This is my third time being here. Usually Im pretty satisfied but today not so much. The food is great but we had to listen to three young boys about the age of 6 or 7 play video games on the laptops while being extremely loud. At first it didnt bother us but after about ten minutes, it started to get to us as they got louder and louder. To top it off, I ordered chicken fried rice instead of pork because its usually dry. I paid two extra dollars and for some reason the waitress thought it would be okay to snag some off of my plate, place it on a smaller dish for herself and eat it. I have half the mind to ask her if she will be taking a quarter off for helping herself to my food. I understand the cook tasting the meals before serving anything but she didnt cook it. Im just saying.

I should have read the yelp reviews. Most of the good ones start with a disclaimer that the foods bad and then go on to rave about the $1 beers... So thats about right. The potstickers (from the frozen food case at Trader Joes Im pretty sure) were the best thing I got... the fried rice had to have been under a heat lamp at least 8 hours because theres no other way to make anything THAT bad... The rest of the 5 lbs of slop Im stuck with... I cant feed that to a human so Im thinking about tossing it across to my neighbors dog. Except I really like that dog.

I was torn between 2 or 3 stars. I grew up in the south, not exactly a hotbed for good ethnic cuisine. I am consistently reminded how bad Chinese food is in Portland. This place is decent by Portland standards, quantity and price were very good. Unfortunately the food is mediocre at best. I really wish this town could find a way to serve really good Chinese food at some point.

Great food with huge portions for a cheap price. Best part is that it claims to be MSG free. I usually get sick after Chinese food, but we just ate here and am doing great! The staff is super friendly and attentive. The decor is not fancy, but lets you know their spending their money on food not decor. We will definitely be making this a go-to place.

Happy House is the real deal. First off, if you order sesame chicken youll never order anything else. Family dinner special is where its at. I like to eat, and theres always leftovers. Did I mention $ beers all day everyday. I repeat $1 rolling rocks out of the glass, people! Owner and barstaff treat you right all the time. Always happy at the house.

I have only seen the bar but my conclusion is as follows; This is a great place to just exist with friends. Nothing fancy or over the top. The bartenders are usually very amicable. The drinks are reasonably priced. The food is good, cheap food. Wouldnt recommend for a date. Would recommend for a drink or two with friends!

I was excited to try this place because of its reviews, however I was extremely disappointed. I ordered the orange chicken lunch special to go- the soggy chicken was piled on a sad puddle of flavorless sauce and half the pork in the rice was bad and grayed. I appreciated the quick ready time but would not eat here again.

Homemade sweet and sour, good prices, and fresh bbq pork! The eggrolls could use some work, too bitter. The lady at the counter is very helpful and friendly. I sorta ran into this place by accident, and now its my favorite in portland. I will bus it from downtown just for their food.

I love happy house, its a rare gem in that area if you love dive bars. One bartender always remembers me, but calls me my boyfriends exs name, Ive been coming here for years and I think its hilarious. Everytime I stray from the basics on the menu I get a bit sick though.

I love traditional chinese food, and this place is one of the best, an undiscovered gem. Great food, always fresh and perfectly prepared. Nothing special about the decor, but food, service, and price ($6 lunch) more than compensate. Highly recommended.

The first time I ate here we sat in the dining room and it was pretty subpar. But, if you sit in the bar its a much better atmosphere! If youre looking for a divey place to eat Americanized Chinese food and get cheap beers, you cant beat Happy House.

Three blocks from my office, some of my coworkers eat there a lot, I like their lunch specials, most of them $6.50, they come with soup and spring roll. Service is good, fast for lunch.

Good Basic old school Chinese food. Generous portions and quick service. Be warned! There is usually a line to pick up your take out order. Very friendly service!

Wonderful food, cant comment on decor as Ive only ever had take-out, but then, food is much more important than paint, when it comes to a restaurant ;)

Good food! We always just take out...seems to be more people in the bar that eat in compared to the restaurant. General Tsaos is the best in the area.

The atmosphere is not much to speak of (I mostly just order for pick-up) but the food is exactly what I want when I want American-style Chinese Food.

For the price, the portions are huge and the flavors in their sauces are authentic. Great semi-Westernized Chinese.

Cheap and lots of food. You can get food and eat it in the bar next door which is nice.
