The food was good, the service was not. When my dining companion and I arrived at the restaurant the server showed us to the table and immediately asked us what do we want to drink. Thinking quickly on my feet, while taking off my jacket, I ordered two Sapporo beers and sat down. "Maybe the guy is too eager to please us" I thought. We ordered beef rolls appetizer and two entrees, a stir-fried fish and a Szechuan style prawns. After a few minutes, the fish for my companion arrived at the table. I was a little surprised and I started to look around for our server. It took me a little bit, but I was able to locate him. "Why did we get one of our entrees before our appetizer?" I asked. "I did not want you to wait too long. Those beef rolls, they take 20 minuets to prepare" he told us and left. This explanation seemed a little odd to me. I almost felt guilty that I did not order the appetizer before we arrived to the restaurant to give them time to prepare it. In about 5 minutes the rolls sowed up and 5 minutes after that my shrimp (not prawns as advertised) arrived also. The food was tasty, no complains there (except for the shrimp/prawn misunderstanding). I asked for the check, received it, paid it, and than another thing struck me: our server never bothered to make an effort and apologize for bringing my companions entree first, then the appetizer, then my entree. He also never bothered to check on us and ask if the food is good, or if we maybe need another beer, or anything else. And on top of that, when he brought us the check, he never bothered to ask us if we enjoyed our experience and to thank us for coming. He just placed the check on the table and left. I still left him 20% because I used to be a server when I was in college, but this place has a lot of work to do in terms of good service that actually deserves the 20%.

Their food is overpriced and most dishes are poorly made. The cook apparently does not know how to cook. We ordered egg plant and they didnt braise it. Their Pan fried pork bun, which is shanghainese xiaochi, but it is not. The way they made it was a steam bun fried on the top upside down and they put the onion and sesemae after cooked. The soup is pork juice, not broth. The price is way too high. I am shanghainese I will tell you they are not that authentic and overpriced. Soup dumplings (xiao long bao) would never be 13 in shanghai you can get 3 steamers for 5 dollars, their price is just too overpriced and their cook should not attempt to make shanghainese dishes if they are going to do it so poorly. The positive things I have to say is that all the xiao long bao I have tasted in oregon this one is the best. But I do not think it is worth coming, I am going to just learn it on my own, its not as hard as people keep saying, its like making dumpling just the collagen gel. Also another dish that is not really what it is, west lake soup, it is not west lake soup, basically egg flower soup. This restaurant misnames its dishes or just tries to make other dishes with the very basic dishes of chinese cusine.

authentic chinese but not authentic sichuan if that makes any sense. tried suan miao la rou and kung pao ji...lack of prickly ash and inclusion of bell peppers in kung pao is a give away that the chef is doing some inter-province interpretations. but still tastes good and beautiful presentations. pricing is same as taste of sichuan in beavertrode but way smaller portions. unless they boost portion sizes they wont be in business long. weve seen the same happen to another truly authentic sichuan place in beavrtron...spicy world...which shut down due to its chintzy proclivities. chinese customers have shown time and again that value is high on their priority list. they will crowd a new place at the outset but if theres no value they will stop going very soon.

Arrived around 1pm on Saturday. Ordered pork belly and preserved vegetables, Szechuan wontons in chili oil, beef wraps, and Szechuan bean jelly. Dishes arrived very staggered, we were almost done with the pork belly before the others arrived. The pork belly was very tender, mild taste, not great but not bad. The wontons were good, spicy but not overwhelming. The beef wraps were amazing, absolutely loved them! Great blend of beef, cilantro and sweet sou sauce. Only critique is they were a little too sweet, but adding a touch of spicy oil from the wontons made them heavenly. Minus one star because they were out of Szechuan bean jelly and didnt tell us, instead they brought Szechuan cold noodles, which we sent back without trying.

I am picky about Chinese food and always on the lookout for good Chinese restaurants and good service in Portland. I would recommend Duck House Chinese Restaurant. We ordered Xiao Long Bao, Won Ton with chili sauce, Fresh Pan fried Bao, etc. The food was mostly authentic so the last minute before we left, we decided to order an order of Beef rolls to go (They are delicious). The waiter and waitress who served us were just as good. Yes the dishes are a bit pricey than other Chinese counterparts but I feel its worth the price. You certainly could pay less going to an Americanized Chinese restaurant.

Great new Chinese restaurant in downtown. There are so few places in Portland that try to create dry flavors based on traditional recipes/techniques non-native to the local culture. This place does Chinese food about as good as we can get it here. Of course they are not able to get the perfect ingredients since so few items are grown or prepared the right way in a local proximity but they go out of their way to create some amazing Chinese dishes. The wait staff is good even during a rush and I expect even more from them as they continue to mature. Great start here.

We ordered about 8 dishes. They recently opened so you can see there are issues with the staff. Kitchen staff bringing the dishes out ignored our empty tea pot 3 times before I pointed it out. She then yelled to the young woman who had been clearing ALL the tables by herself, to do it and walked away. We ordered 2 appetizers. One came out as our LAST dish after we were almost done so timing is an issue. Overall though, excellent food, great atmosphere.

It only took one bite of the egg roll to know: this is the best Chinese food Ive ever had in Portland. Ordered those egg rolls, plus veggie fried rice and sweet and sour chicken. Its fresh, alive with flavor, perfectly seasoned, not at all oily, and delicious. Downtown is VERY lucky to have this place move in. No exaggeration: the food is amazing. My recommendation? Go there now before the word gets out, because it will, and it will be busy.

Très bon resto chinois, belles portions et prix très corrects. Le cadre (déco) par contre ne fait pas du tout chinois (ce restaurant a été repris il y a 1 année et ils nont pas changé une virgule de lancienne déco).

Lots of variety from simple stir fried dishes to delicate house made noodles and dumplings to less common authentic northern chinese cuisine - theres something for everyone. My go to dishes are the beef rolls, dan dan noodles and soup dumplings (xiao long bao). The atmosphere is relaxed and location is convenient. There is even a pretty extensive list of beers on tap for a chinese restaurant.
