The vegetarian bahn mi from Binh Minh, is absolutely AMAZING. Heres a tip: If youre eating them at the restaurant its great if they toast the bread (they arent as good un-toasted). But if youre bringing them home to eat I would highly suggest you have the sandwich made...but not toasted. Toast it at home for a few minutes in your oven or toaster oven. Otherwise, if you have them toasted at the restaurant and bring them home to eat they will be overly crunchy (the texture of the bread will resemble a cracker, rather than freshly toasted baguette). But thats not a complaint. Its just like if you make toast...you put the bread in the toaster, and eat it when it comes out of the toaster. You dont toast bread, wait a few hours for it to get cold and dry, then eat it; because thats a recipe for croutons not toast. If youre super hardcore, you can even scoop the insides of the sandwich out and put it on a plate whilst toasting the bread (because the vegetarian sandwich isnt usually hot inside when made at the restaurant).

Small, family run Banh Mi sandwich shop and bakery on SE Powell near 82nd. This place seriously kills Best Baguettes bread with soft on the inside, crispy on the outside house made french baguettes and fresh ingredients that just make for a better sandwich than rock hard bread and chewy meat. I always get the number 10 (grilled pork) and have yet to try the soups, which seems to be a traditional favorite. Nice assortment of pastries, steamed BBQ pork buns, and homemade desserts for a ridiculously cheap price. Very small place so seating is limited, but its never that busy since most get orders to go. Very friendly owners and they make your sandwiches fast, (although they are kinda small sandwiches for the average appetite) so you might wanna get two or a couple other things, but the bright side is you wont be breaking the bank, as most items are no more than $4.

The sandwiches Ive consumed from Binh Minh Bakery are good or better than Best Baguette. I cant speak for other patrons. My sandwiches were not dry and the service was not cold. I know it sounds awfully like a Quiznos ad, but just because Binh Minhs toasts their baguette, but makes for a better sandwich. I like how the bread crackles. Binh Minhs sandwiches are a little less expensive (not that $3.00 is pricey) and a little bit smaller than Best Baguettes.

If youre looking for a light airy crisp Banh Mi sandwich this is the place. No thick hard baguettes here.. I love their fresh egg rolls and patechaud. Their grilled pork and banh mi dac biet are my fav. This is a small deli with tasty vietnamese treats. Forget about Best Baguette and live a little.

My husband and I got sick when we ate banh mi sold at this location. Never come back anymore. I would recommend another Binh Minh sandwich located on NE Broadway, not this one.
