My wife and I went here for Valentines Day the other day, getting there around 6 or 6:30 so we knew it was going to be a very long wait. I gave one of the hostesses our name and she said it would be about an hour and fifteen minutes. No problem, we went over to Old Navy for a little bit and I set a timer on my phone for 45 minutes. We came back and checked to see if by any chance theyd called our name and we didnt know. She said no, we were still on the list and it would be about another half hour. Her tone was ever so slightly rude, but not remotely to the point of being offensive. We left again to Target to pick up a few things and basically went straight back. I decided to take a pager that time, but right when we went outside and sat down on the bench, it went off. Jason was our server and he was awesome. Ive dined in enough restaurants to know the spiel: drinks first. I dont drink and my wife very rarely does. I asked about Italian sodas and she stuck with her water. Ive noticed more often than not, this results in bad service, which is stupid because I always make up for it in the tip if they do a good job. But Jason kept up with his great service. The salad and bread sticks (4) arrived quickly as did our appetizers (we went with the Parmesan crusted 2 for $25, getting the chicken meatballs and risotto bites for appetizers, and me the Tilapia and her the Prosciutto Tortellini, all of which was excellent.) We got a second round of salad and bread sticks and I never felt like Jason was gone too long, or looming. Bottom line: of course Olive Garden is heat-and-serve. So is every other chain restaurant in this country. If you want real, true, authentic Italian food, there are many options in Portland, but dont expect OG to be one of those options. It is what it is and for that its pretty good. We had a great experience on probably what is the worst night of the year to go to a restaurant like this. I dont know what all the bad reviews are about...

Ordering to go. The greeters in the front clearly dont like people who order out. Or maybe they just dont like people like me. Im not white. Im not Italian either. In any case I felt like a second class citizen when they told me to go over "THERE," and wait. It was one chair, surrounded by a bunch of paper bags. If i wasnt so offended, I might have cracked a smile. It looked like a place where you would send a kid to time out. I reluctantly just sat at the benches by the door where they, for some reason didnt want "me" to sit. I dont know if it was just me or thats how they treat everyone taking orders out. In any case they need to change how they treat customers overall. Better greeters, make people feel welcome. Olive Garden and the world in general have grown to a point where more people take food on the run. Case in point would be the online mobile ordering app that Olive Garden created for people to order take out!!! In conclusion, treat people how you want to be treated. If someone is paying for something your selling treat them like you want them to come back. When you treat people how I was teated businesses go out of business or people get fired. Hint hint) Do better up front. Treat your orders to go with the same quality as those dinning in. If you can do this I will change my review to one that matches the quality and service of everyone else working there. The food at Olive Garden deserves 5 stars. The few people that this review is meant for!!! however, need to find a different job, and quite dragging everyone else down to your sad, narrow, and potentially prejudice point of view!!!!!

As a former resident of the mid-west, where chain restaurants like the Olive Garden at a dime a dozen, Ive eaten at a lot of these places. Generally, the Olive Garden is good, if a little overpriced. But this one is terrible. The management rides the servers about how many breadsticks they deliver to tables (one server actually told me this). Refills are always slow and always limited to three (most olive gardens serve four in one basket for two people). I thought the over-priced food was meant to cover the price of chomping down on unlimited breadsticks. If I have to wrestle a bear just to get more than three breadsticks, what am I paying for? Service is beyond slow, as well. It isnt rare to sit for more than five minutes waiting for the server to show up. Last time my wife and I went there we had to wait ten minutes before the server remembered to bring us our waters. And the extra meat sauce we ordered was forgotten. Thats pretty routine. If you order a side of anything there is a 50/50 chance itll not show up until long after you wanted it. Of course, youll probably want to wave down your server to tell them their mistake. Good luck with that. The busboys are far easier to grab than any of the wait staff. So consider yourself warned. There are plenty of Olive Gardens around, so why go to this one? The one over in Tigard is much better.

The hosts are often very friendly, although I am not a talkative person, so it is a bit awkward when they ask my boyfriend and I if we have anything planned afterwards. Maybe they could try to keep the conversation simple with less communicative customers? Otherwise, I absolutely love the food here. Salad and soup is my favorite, but getting four cheese sauce on some twisted pasta is amazing. They also provide many gluten free choices! I believe you only pay $11.99 for a main pasta dish, and your choice of unlimited soup or salad, with unlimited breadsticks! Can be a little spendy, but its a dinner date so worth it! And I love picking up a salad from here, although $7 for a salad is pretty over priced.. even the soup is a little cheaper. Also not very many choices for soup, but I always stick with my one and only favorite. Overall great experience here if you can afford it and like pasta! (and if you hate pasta, many other choices are available!) Also cant forget to add that they just included paying a few dollars extra to get another plate of whatever pasta youd like to take home ALONG with your meal. Sounds like a great deal, if only I could finish my first plate in the first place!

We had never been to The Olive Garden and my mom really wanted to try this restaurant. I read the reviews and I looked at thier online menu. I just couldnt find anything I really wanted to eat there. I am not a big pasta fan. It was a Sunday about 3pm and the place was packed. They said it would be a 25 min wait. I was surprised when they sat us 10 min later. The salad was very fresh and tasty. I ordered a double portion of fried Zuccini for my entree. The slices were thin but I enjoyed them. My husband ordered the Steak Gorgonzola-Alfredo. The steak was cooked to perfection med-rare, but only 4 medallions. My mom had the Venetian Apricot Chicken and she said It was delicious. The service was great even though they were really busy. I give this a 4 rating because I was in doubt and ended up very pleased. I would also like to add they only serve lunch during the week before 4 pm. Dinner is served all day Sat. & Sun. No lunch prices on weekends.
