Look, if youre afraid of hipsters, probably independent coffee shops in gentrifying neighborhoods of Portlandia arent for you. But if youre looking for a really good coconut latte any time of the year, a cafe with space for your four year old to be away from you, a place to meet 9/11 conspiracy theorists, or just a comfy spot to sit and read the paper--Annas is as good as it gets. Particular pros: flexible menu, reasonable prices, yummy-weird food selections, music the baristas pickParticular cons: some beat up furniture, weirdly dim red lighting, music the baristas pick

This shop is a throwback to the coffee shops I grew up with in a college town. Its got that particularly hippy vibe, baristas/ers that say "sup brah" and music thats always a bit on the loud side. But, dammit, thats what we want. The coffee is dArte so its somewhere between good and pretty good depending on the drink. The air conditioning is on full-bore so Annas is a welcome break from the hot St. Johns summer days. Big tables and no hassles about laptops with a closing time somewhere around 11pm makes this my favorite coffee shop in NoPo.

Staff could be much better than apathetic. I understand it gets to be a bit hectic in the mornings but it would be conducive not to pass the frustrations of the early morning traffic onto the customers. I ordered the Spanish Mocha and I thoroughly enjoyed it. In addition, I also tried the cheese and egg bagel. The bagel had been overcooked and was slightly blackened at the top. Still decent. Overall, it filled my appetite. Thank you Anna Bannanas.

This place is pretty cute, and I always see people inside. I went recently, and the service was pretty good. I kind of wish there were more places to sit, but its a small place. The windows always seem foggy.. maybe they need to replace their glass? All that aside, this is a cute place to go for a quiet study time with your laptop, or to meet a few friends for some food and drinks.

I like the Anna Bananas in NW Portland. But this one had a barista who was so amazingly unpleasant it was hilarious. When I asked how one of their drinks was, she gave me a withering stare and said that she never eats anything with sugar in it. And I should have said "thats weird because youre so sweet," but I didnt. Coffee was fine though, and the food was predictably weird.

The hot chocolate is really good and the whip they use is killer. I really like the fun staff here and the really cozy atmosphere. There is a good amount of seating; lounge style and more solid work chairs. The old building has been fitted with lots of power outlets to make this a prime spot to get work done. They serve beer and have a bar which is pretty unique.

Ordered the Mac and cheese with pulled pork a while back. It was the most disgusting thing Ive ever eaten... Watery Microwave Mac and cheese with canned Bbq pork spooned in to it. I couldnt quite believe it. Only giving them 2 stars because the acai smoothies are good. Otherwise I cant trust a place that pulls that kind of crap and passes it off for food.

Lots of hipster types hanging around in front almost made me decide not to go in, but I am glad I did. My drink was awesome-- strong and flavorful. Barrista was super busy but also very friendly. Its nice they have a kid area, but I dont think I would hang out there with my kid.

Hands down favorite latte in Portland, comfy mismatched couches and chairs feel like old pacnw coffee house culture, friendly and warm staff and delicious simple foods. Ample power strips. Cozy corners to tuck into and just work, or talk. This place is a gem.

OK how do these people make coffee? With old socks no doubt. ARGH. Worst coffee ever. Purposely made to taste that way too. Noisy place with an unreadable handwritten chalk board for a "menu". Breakfast was cold, tasteless, and way overpriced.

Boyfriend and I stopped in to grab a bite to eat before seeing a movie at The St Johns Theatre, atmosphere was comfortable as would be expected from a local establishment, and the food was amazing. Definitely recommend their bagel sandwiches.

Staff is funny and helpful. Atmosphere is comfortable and laid back. Prices are great, and the coffee is on PAR, particularly if you order it from B, the cute barista with dreadies and interesting necklaces. She always gets things right.

Friendly, welcoming, unpretentious atmosphere. The staff is so sweet. Normal cafe food and drinks for normal prices. They have the New York Times and a few books on the shelf. Great for people watching and long-term coffee sipping.

I love Sarah, Bryant, the crew... the coffee and food rock. This is the most friendly politically charged coffee shop in town. Check out the apparel and swag when you are there! NW location also is fabulous

Decent coffee, nice atmosphere, but the food is garbage. I have tried a variety of different food items and have always been disappointed. Stay for the coffee but skip the food.

Friendly staff, great coffee, good wifi, and good eats. I love their salads and scrambles. My longtime favorite place in St. Johns to hang, work, and chill.

Coffee was alright, food is awful and overpriced. The two stars is for the awesome play area they have for kids. Would go back for coffee. Not food.

Owner / manager (?) isnt very nice. Shes miserable and rude. Had repeated negative experiences with her. Weird choice of career, Anna.

A long time favorite of many with good drinks & excellent food in a sorta funky setting. Just seems not quite as good as it used to be.
