BEST INDIAN FOOD IN THE PORTLAND METRO AREA! Thank you so much for making the decision to buy and open up this hidden jewel! We appreciate the pride you have in your cooking to keep it small and made by you the owners. We love supporting local family run businesses like ours. Unbelievable flavors! Each dish was packed with flavor and unique spices. We will be back as often as possible. Next time my wife and I will each order our own Chicken Paratha, since I wouldnt let her have much. It was my favorite dish. The samosas were excellent, so much flavor. Chicken Currry was amazing to have so many huge pieces of chicken thigh, and the flavor was rich! Chana Masala was original with a hint of cinnamon to set it apart. We are so glad we ordered the large so we can enjoy the left overs this week. To everyone out there, DO NOT LET the inside setting turn you off. Totally casual, just some tables and chairs and food served in to go containers. Believe me you will appreciate the value when you taste the high class restaurant quality flavor. Cant wait to call ahead and bring it home to the family! It is located on Arlington just past Portland Ave set back on the right.

Masala box is an authentic and dedicated Indian food restaurant, but the limited menu and Spartan decor means it isnt for everybody. If you are already a fan of Indian food then this place will not disappoint. There is very limited dining space, but theres a lot of different beers in the beer case :-) The owner is an enthusiastic chef with a background in bioengineering. Some may find the owners personality to be a bit forward, however I found him to be entertaining and informative, and over all, passionate about providing healthy food in the community.

Ok the place is in Gladstone Oregon and it is housed in a old store that happened to have a kitchen. The couple who does all of the cooking are of Indian desent and only have a menu of 5 to 8 items on the menu. The chicken masalla is excellent. You would not expect the food to be of such quality considering it is a hole in the wall place. The have take out and in house dining on small tables. The portions of food are large and the prices are very reasonable. Your host/owners are great and happy to serve you. Worth a visit

After waiting a few weeks for the grand opening of this new little restaurant, it opens. :D I was predisposed to think it was going to be average to higher prices for meager portions. That is not the case! Very generous portions, low prices, great value and DELICIOUS! They also serve beer, which is convenient for me because I live so close. You can also buy and leave with beer. Drink a beer, take beer home. Done deal. Also the food too, its really good.

This place is a real find. Low on glitz, high on flavor. We ordered the saag, chicken masala, naan, basmati rice, samosas and mango lassi. VJ the owner is also the host, the cook, and the bus boy. He performs each duty with warmth and pride in everything he does. He joked that he has a goal of serving each of his select entrees 10,000 times and it is well worth your time to help the man out! We will definitely be back!

Just great consistent home style Tamil Indian cuisine. The owners are lovely people with a wonderful spirit of service. You would never think to find such good Indian food in a convenience store in Gladstone... But Masala Box is proof that you can find excellent Indian food. Ive never been disappointed, and neither has anyone with whom Ive shared this place.

We(Balaji, Dhilip and Venkat) recently went to Masala box(Gladstone, Oregon city) and had a great indian food after a three week search. We ordered Chicken curry and rice, Paratha with chicken gravy. Wow.. perfectly tastes like home food. We must thank the Owner Vijay Natesan, he is so kind and treating us great.

Wonderful place, a hidden gem. Honestly the best Indian food in Portland. The owner/chef is so friendly and kind and genuinely proud of his recipes. I tried the Saag and it was the best I have ever tasted. Great vegan options and meat dishes available too. I cant wait to go back.

They advertise milk as 2.79/gallon. They sell Kirkland brand milk which comes from Costco so check the expiration date. The man asked for cash and wanted to charge me 50 cents for using a credit card making the milk $3.29/gallon. There were no signs asking for cash.

We went in for take out and the experience was fantastic! Very good chicken masala curry and delicious naan! One of the best mango lassi ever! The gentleman who made it was sweet and very kind. So happy to have discovered an authentic Indian place!

Owners are very friendly, and food is delicious. Love the chicken curry, samosas, and the naan is amazing! Definitely recommend. They have a small dining area if you want to eat in, but seem to specialize in take out.

Hidden gem. We checked this place out on a whim and were blown away. The owners are incredible and the food is crazy good. Beer is available on draft or by bottle. Take a moment and sit in for lunch or supper.

Just had takeout from there tonight. It is good food, good prices, generous portions and very nice people. It looks like a convenience store, and it is, but it is also a good place to get good hot meals.

LOVE rules here, feels safe, satisfies that "I need some Indian food" feeling. The metro area needs more people with character such as this place presents. Class with simplicity.
