I cannot believe the high ratings everyone is giving this place! My husband and I went there for the first time and were very disappointed. My husband ordered the Eat Sake house special and I ordered sushi. Our starter salad was nothing more than watery iceburg lettuce with some strange paste-like dressing. Our miso soup was the strangest thing I have ever seen. If you didnt touch it with the spoon for 30 seconds the soup separated into two gross layers. My husbands $15 dish was not worth the money. The veggies were nothing more than frozen peas and carrots surrounded by a less than fresh pile of salmon that was deep fried then covered in a ton of sauce (which was the only thing that made the dish edible). My sushi also was not the best and certainly did not taste fresh. Sadly, the Sushi made at the local Giant Eagle tastes better! This was by far the worst meal I have EVER had in a restaurant. To be clear, we are certainly not picky eaters and eat frequently at similar types of places. I will say that the serving staff were super nice and prompt. However, there were a lot of employees and were quite loud.

I have been fortunate to have moved closer to Wadsworth, as it now allows me to enjoy what I feel is the best sushi restaurant in the Akron area. As a avid sushi eater, I have tried the various places--such as Sakura, Sushi Katsu, Wasabi, and Hibachi Japan--and this beats them all by a fair margin. The sushi is always fresh and prepared quickly by the head chef/owner and his othe chefs, and he will remember you after visiting him once. There is a wide selection of vegetarian and cooked fish for the faint of heart and asking for the "chefs recommendation" always leaves you satisfied with what youve been provided. I highly recommend making the trip out there, it will always be well worth the time and (as us sushi lovers know) money for a delicious and beautiful meal.

Went there last Friday 6-2-17...the food was ok but not for the price. We sat outside cause it was a nice night and our sever was rude. First he left the drink tray on my chair with my coat sitting on it, eww dont know where else that has sat and Im sure they dont clean them. Then my friend had a problem with her drink and he was very rude about that, never offered to fix it or get a different drink for her. Then while I was sitting there I over heard the people behind us ask for soy sauce and he grabbed what was on a different table and said I dont think they used this...I picked this place cause it was highly rated, yea Ill never go there again.

I really like this restaurant. The food is very good and prices are very good. Get a maki combo. Awesome value for the dollar and its quality. I have IBD and Ive never had a problem eating there. So thats saying something. The atmosphere is good as well. I love the fact they have techno music playing a lot. We have enough Japanese restaurants that have the classical harp like music playing. Thats nice and relaxing and all but this is true to what modern Japan is like. They like techno and such.

From the warm, moist towelettes at the beginning of the meal to the delicious complimentary wine shot at the end of the meal, the experience was phenomenal. The Dynamite appetizer was superbly prepared, and was the best appetizer my husband and I have had in a long time. The sushi and Sashimi were most excellent, and all of this for under 50 dollars! Sushi and sashimi are definitely specialty. Were already planning a return trip sometime. This is one to write mom about.

The last time I went to Kasai with my girlfriend, she ordered a maki sampler and I ordered the steak and chicken hibachi plate. My food was a few degrees above room temperature, the chicken was dry and tasted funny, the portions were small and the red sauce tasted like ketchup. I wouldnt have minded but my meal was $18 which is highway robbery for such a sub-par dish. She absolutely loved the sushi though. If I ever go back I will certainly not order hibachi.

Ive been to many other sushi restaurants throughout Ohio and this is by far the best. My wife and I have been coming here regularly for many years. Sometimes the service is a little slow but the food more than makes up for it. I completely do not understand how anyone can give this place a bad review unless your idea of good sushi is the stuff you get at the supermarket or Sushi Rock. One of the bad reviewers didnt even understand what miso soup was.

Food is pretty good, but quality of the servers has been getting lower recently. Asked to change seats before the food came, but the server said all tables are reserved without even checking the reservation list. The place was practically empty, and stayed half empty for at least an hour. I still think its worth coming for the food, but you may be disappointed if you expect "4.8" rating - at least for the service.

The hostess was super nice and took us right to our table! The miso soup was awesome and I enjoyed the sushi. But unfortunately I had explosive diarrhea after feasting on the food. My waitress needs to work on her English but maybe I need to work on my Japanese. Waitress got my friends order wrong and seemed a bit angry to have to get the correct dish. Will go again…but this Ill be prepared for the diarrhea.

Wait was supposed to be 20 minutes and was actually 45 minutes. VERY slow service. Took about 15 minutes just to get water. Salad was watered down, miso soup tasted terrible. The habachi dish had vegetables that were actually cold, and it took another 20 minutes to get the check. I know that you are supposed to sit and enjoy supper, but this was rediculous. The sushi was good, but never going back.

Kasai is my second favorite sushi place in the US, and when I lived in Ohio for 3 years I would frequently make the 30 minute drive for it. Nowhere else around Akron comes close. Leon, their head guy at the sushi bar, always has a very good selection of fresh fish and had good suggestions of things to try when new items became available. Price was reasonable and service was always good.

Frequent guest. Cuisine is ALWAYS FRESH, gorgeous presentation, and delicious. Perfectly dark atmosphere and trendy ambient / techno music playing - not obnoxious whatsoever. Depending on the server you may have an issue but as of late I have no complaints. Excellent fresh mojitos too! Heavy-handed on the booze (and thats a good thing). See you tonight!

The sushi is very good. I wouldnt recommend the hibachi it is always super overcooked. The other Japanese selections like the noodle bowls are decent. Service is hit and miss sometimes you get a great server other times you get a terrible one. They need better cooks and the servers need to be trained much better. Overall this place is ok but nothing special.

Try the Geoff roll. Named after my son who loved Leon and his excellent sushi restaurant. My son passed away recently and I took 25 family and friends to Kasai to honor and celebrate my sons memory. Leon created a sushi roll in honor of my son Geoff. It is a combination of two of Geoff,s favorite rolls. You will love it! Just ask for the Geoff roll.
