I will never go back. This place pretends to be a fine restaurant. but it doesnt come close. Although the food was great, every other aspect of this little dump was a bizarre joke. Ask to see a wine list. They dont have one. They simply do not see the need to have a flipping wine list. Here’s their routine: "Do you want red or white and what is your price range." “What, you really don’t have a wine list I say” “No sir we don’t have a wine list, Do you want red or white and what is your price range” I said Cabernet and she brought out a bottle of white. To have to spend $80.00 on a bottle of Champaign and $150.00 on two bottles of wine and order it as if I’m ordering lunch meet at Kroger’s is tacky to say the very least and completely unprofessional as it gets. The waitress, an impatient sixty year old Barbie was near clueless. She stepped on my foot three times. That’s three time more than all the places I’ve been in my life. Order espresso if you like surprises. The bartender, although personable didn’t know a thing beyond beer. Don’t waste your time this place is a joke.

We had a party of four, and when we walked in a waitress with a turtle neck on asked us if we had a reservation. We did not, she then tried to stonewall us when i asked if we could sit at the bar. Another younger bartender came by and accommodated us with seats at the bar. Then periodically throughout the night the waitress in the turtle neck would come behind the bar, and drink from a glass of wine she had hidden, and then continue to badger the bartender about giving us seats. Now onto the food. there were 7-8 choices for entrees. Each person in my party got something different. Everyone was disappointed. The food wasnt awful... but if was extremely overpriced for what it was. The vibe in the place was of old rich white entitlement, and being in our thirtys we did not seem welcome. With one exception the young women bartending was very gracious even with a tipsy waitress picking fights with her all night.

A charming atmosphere. Food was good, though expensive. The whole place had a rather unpleasant - maybe old smoky apartment - smell. I am hyper-sensitives to smells though. As soon as my perch arrived, that smell won out over the weird smell and things were good. Service was perfectly fine. Not a lot of choices on the menu, but all piqued my interest, and my lake perch was good and my wife liked her salmon. Presentation was exquisite. Would have given four stars if not for the smell, and five stars would have been awarded without the smell and with a lower price for the food - quality seemed more like $18-$20 per entree rather than the $30/per that we paid.

We have dined at Rose & Thistle several times in the past couple years, and each time the meal is totally fabulous. The steaks are cooked to perfection, with wonderful flavor, and we have tried several other dishes, and appetizers, and loved them all. It is a very small, elegant space. The service is always excellent. For the quality of the experience, I also find the prices to be quite reasonable. If there is one weakness, it is the limited menu. However, I would rather they have limited options, and keep the quality high, then go expand and have to sacrifice this. I would recommend Rose & Thistle very highly.

Poor customer service wastes the great food and great atmosphere! Ive eaten at this restaurant several times, and Ive always tried to give them the benefit of the doubt. However, I find their reputation of poor customer service and an unwelcoming attitude to be true. Im really torn when deciding to return to this restaurant. I find their food to be very well prepared, uniquely original for such classical dishes, and worth the price. It is almost good enough ignore the poor service, but time will tell (4 weeks and I have not been back).

My husband and I went there for the first time for dinner and it was absolutely delicious! I had the Beef Wellington and my husband had the Scottish Salmon. Our service was perfect! For dessert we had the chocolate mousse which is house made with little bits of chocolate. The Chef came out to see how we enjoyed our dinner which we found to be really classy. I cant wait to go back!

We have dined there several times, most recently last night (3/10/16). Our party had Beef Wellington, Scallops, Haddock, House Salad and Ceaser Salad. All were cooked to perfection! Chef Witt came out and asked how everything tasted which was unique! They have a very extensive wine list and a well stocked bar. Definitely will return.

After several long days driving and more to go, the Rose and Thistle was a pleasant surprise. The food was wonderful, with amazing subtleties for what seemed like simple fare (a beer-batter cod fillet, but the remoulade was exceptional yet delicate). If you are in the area, stop by for this one.

Food was good but they were extremely busy so it was very loud which would have been fine except we were expecting a quiet meal. They had a wine list and waitress was very knowledgeable. Seems to be a lot of regulars where everyone knows each other. Will definitely give it a try again.

The steaks were cooked completely wrong. Had to wait a long time for replacements. No seasoning on steaks. Veggies undercooked and very hard. Tuna was bland. Will not go back. Overpriced, poorly prepared food. Very disappointed. This doesnt even deserve one star.

The atmosphere is quaint (OK, the weird drapes to enter are odd), but the food was amazing - twice! Definitely will be back. Not cheap, but very good quality.

Great food and good service. They can properly cook a rare fillet. But Be aware, this is a $32-36 per entree restaurant.
