Excellent food and decent atmosphere. Some of the best brisket in Dayton. Ribs are not Texas style they have a dry rub on them that is heavy on clove. Pulled pork doesnt have a lot of flavor other than smoke. The beans are different every time I order them but they are always fantastic. Six beers on tap consist of two lite, Yuengling, a rotating IPA, a seasonal and a rotating tap. They occasionally have live music. There is usually not a cover charge but when there is they charge a cover even if the band is finishing up. I have never had a problem with service or with the staff but I have seen them neglect and be rude to other customers. And they definitely have a bad attitude towards each other especially behind the bar.

This is a place for Bar Rescue !!! The night bartender needs to get on the ball . I seen several people setting with empties and when they did get an order in it took him a very long time to get them their drinks. I ordered the buckskins with brisket for an appetizer " potato skins w/brisket ". They were not very good at all. Maybe if they were hot they would have been better! I had been there a while back and it was the same thing then as well. My suggestion would be for the management to retrain the bartender and the chef or relieve them both and get new help that want great service and food to be a priority.

Literally the worst experience Ive ever had eating in the Dayton area. Arrived at 6:30, was not served food until 8. It took roughly an hour of not having beer glasses refilled before the waitress thought to take our order, and another hour for our food to arrive at different times. It was plainly apparent that she forgot to write down all of our orders. In the mean time, we had to walk to the bar to get our glasses refilled. When the food finally arrived, the waitress explained that they had run out of fresh vegetables so she substituted french fries... Because thats totally equivocal. I will never eat here again.

Went there last night to meet friends and listen to one of our favorite bands. The bartenders are pathetic. We sat there for a long time waiting to be acknowledged. 6 people behind the bar and 12 people sitting around the bar, so they were not slammed. I dont know why its so difficult to acknowledge someone and maybe say "be with you in a minute. When we finally waved for service...they did not have any knowledge about the beer they serve much less have social skills to a least smile and be polite. With employees like that...this place is doomed.

The first time I was here I ordered food and the order never got to the kitchen. As my friends are, I sat waiting. I never got my food. I did one free beer though. The second time I visited this establishment, my food order did make it to the kitchen. And I got food. Sadly I only got part of my order. The waitress made no effort to adjust my bill to compensate for their mistake. I asked them to adjust the bill since I didnt feel I should pay for food I didnt get. They refused. Im so glad I have other options when I wish to dine out.

I love this bar. The food is always good and the atmosphere as seen in many posts is very laid back. The staff and the customers around are always friendly and fun. Plus...any bartender that remembers my face and my drink as well as my husbands and makes it, no problem as we sit down to enjoy the night becomes my favorite person.haha. Not many bartenders take the time to get to know their customers and remembers their drinks of choice after their first visit.

Overall had an "ok" experience here. Not sure if they allow smoking indoors or if the smoke smell was coming from an attached patio but it smelled fairly strongly of smoke and my clothes also smelled of smoke upon leaving. Otherwise the food was pretty good and the prices were on in the inexpensive side. Service was sort of random, we had about 3 different servers waiting/busing our table over the course of about 1.5 hours.

Food is fabulous (great BBQ, great appetizers, great sandwiches), live music is great. Service was hit and miss when they were busy on Fridays and Saturday nights. They recently re-opened up a few months back, so they may have their feet under them now, but early on, they struggled to keep up during the busy times. Dont let that discourage you at all, this place is really a gem. Highly recommend this place.

Unfortunately Dark Horse is now under new ownership (as far as I know.) Ive also heard that the chef left, but not 100% sure on that either. What I can tell you is that ever since, the brisket and wings have been very dry. Dark Horse used to have some of the best brisket around and other than Lock27, they had the best smoked wings. Hopefully they get things sorted out soon

I really saw this place going down hill awhile ago, so when I heard they were reopening, I knew I needed to make a stop in. The menu hasnt changed but the service definitely has. All staff seems to be new but all of them were friendly and on it! Also, theres a cute new guy bartender. I call dibs on em ladies!

After hosting 2 separate private parties in the loft, I can say that the staff there have always been a pleasure to deal with. The kitchen has a impressive menu as well. But the food is a bit hit or miss (i.e. - Brisket dinner one week was fresh and delicious, the next time it was old and dry.)

Permanently closed. Owner gives bs story but Im sure they were about to get busted for something. Service was terrible. You can confirm with other reviews here. The only people that liked this place was the cops, because they would sit right next door to catch as many DUIs they could.

The food is amazing! Ive seen a few people complain about service here, it is a very large seating area, and I think theyre still trying to figure out whether they want to be a bar that has live music or a restaurant but I think its the Best of Both Worlds

Dried up smoked brisket and wings. Asked for French onion soup and got salty onion soup. Dont know if I just caught it on a bad day. The servers were nice though. My friends said this joint were usually very good, so I might have to come back another day.

This place is disgusting. The owner will hire you only if you have sex with him. And everyone that works there is drunk or on drugs. I believe this place to be a cover up prostitution/ human trafficking ring. Makes me sick to think this place exists.

Just finished a Burnt Butts Sandwich with "better than sex" (the name of the sauce) BBQ sauce... That could very well be the best BBQ I have ever had. Good laid back atmosphere, good beer selection, good service. Quickly becoming my favorite place!
