This was my first time here. They greeted us by asking if we had a reservation, when we said "no" the hostess kind of acted like we really should have called in first even though 7 of the 12 tables in view were empty and nobody was waiting in the lobby. They had a nice selection of local beer and wine(although it was quite pricey), but the food selection was extremely limited. Only 7 items for dinner. I had the burger w/ the "greens" since that was what came with it and nobody has figured out how to make sustainable potatoes yet. (fries anyone?..Hello...) there were no other options for sides. I like salad, but these were just leaves of lettuce w/ oil and some tasteless vinaigrette. They told me that they normally cook the meat to medium-well, so i asked for Medium. My burger was cooked well-done. A bit chewy for my taste and no pink center whatsoever. My sister had the crusted trout. It tasted very fishy and when the waiter came over to ask how everything was, she had just finished her water and set the glass down right in front of him. He didnt offer to bring her any more water. I guess he is trying to save the planet one glass of water at a time. Also he didnt offer any bread. We had to ask for it. Overall, i get the sustainable motif, i am from California, but to have so few options and the ones that you have are really not very good and then add the poor service, i only gave this place 2 stars because of their beer/wine selection. Even the chicken and waffles for $22 didnt have chicken breast, only thighs. The only reason i went here tonight was because the Malaysian restaurant down the street had a private event and was closed tonight. I am 45 years old from Los Angeles and i dont consider myself a "foodie" but i know bad food when i taste it. based on the other reviews, maybe i just caught them on a bad night, but im afraid I wont be back to give them another chance unfortunately.

After wanting to try this restraunt for awhile now we finally did this afternoon. The dinning room is a quaint makeover of a 1930s colonial home (the drywall work is fantastic btw). We were promptly greeted by the chef owner Todd who took our drink order. The unsweet tea was fantastic with a hint of blue berry. We ordered the cheese tray as an app which was amazing. Todds refined palate showed its face with the combination of pureed fruit, blue and parmesan cheese, and tasty summer sausage. Couldnt quite put my finger on the sweetness adorning our tray, perhaps honey, but it was simple and had nice texture. I also had the soup de jour which could possibly be the best chicken fajita soup Ive ever had. As entrees we order the grilled cheese, and two burgers, one for my son and one for me. My wife ordered the grilled cheese with no blue cheese. Unfortunately our friendly waitress ignored this request. She also didnt order my burger, which was disappointing. Her last blunder was when she came back right before our food was served and asked about the toppings on our sons burger. We said he would like bacon and lettuce. Two minutes later his burger arrived with neither. I ended eating my wifes grilled cheese and really really enjoyed it. It is obvious that a lot of thought was put into the dishes and the fact most of our food was locally attained made it all the more special. Being my wife was dissapointed we didnt get to try the dessert. We will try it again because the food was so GOOD, but I really hope some effort is placed on getting the orders to the kitchen properly. Todd is a chef to watch, I have a feeling this might just be the start of a flourishing culinary career.

Disappointing. We have heard a lot of good things about this place and had been really looking forward to eating here. We tried to visit this place 2 weeks ago and were very politely turned away due to a lack of reservation. We learned our lesson and made reservations for this evening. We had the Truffled Mushroom Fonduta Poutine as an appetizer, which had a couple bites that were excellent, but the majority of the dish was bland and felt greasy. For entrees, I went with the Smoked Salmon Gnocchi. While the gnocchi was made well, the rest of the dish had too many disparate bold flavors and the very hard texture of the squash (undercooked) made the dish hard to eat. My girlfriend had the Dogwood Farm Chicken and Waffle and she and I both found the chicken to be dry and the waffle pieces to be overly sweet and saturated in syrup. It was also unexpected that the dish was served with the chicken and waffle already cut into bitesize pieces as you might have with a kids menu. This added a lot more breading as nearly every bitesize piece of chicken was coated in breading. We ate outside because the weather was nice. The seating inside and outside is close quarters, so youll get to know your neighbor in that its hard to avoid hearing adjacent conversations. The staff were great. Both the manager and our waitress were very courteous and helpful. Additionally we were a bit disappointed in the menu options, as it heavily favored red meat. Not sure well return. Just was not worth the thirty minute drive for mediocre food.

Today I ate at the Wildflower Cafe, in downtown Mason, Ohio. Its a quaint small house converted to a cafe for lunch and dinner. I dined with friends who were drinking wine and enjoying a cheese and cracker plate as I arrived. Seated right in front of the door, the place was in full capacity. I ordered the WORLDS BEST BURGER, a WEBB VALLEY FARM, grass fed beef burger, served on Pretzel bread, with double smoked bacon, shaved onion, organic greens, cherry tomato and fresh herb aioli. I had blue cheese added and a side of potato salad. It was juicy and very well made cooked to order. The pretzel bread was very good but hard to eat as a sandwich. I had the side of potato salad which I must say had the best taste ever, very sweet with a taste of pickle and garlic. My friends had specialties as well. One friend had soup and salad, very fresh veggies and homemade and fresh soup, she loved it. The other friend had GOURMET GRILLED CHEESE, a buttery toasted rosemary bread, melted provolone & cheddar, with organic bleu, organic feta, shaved onion, fresh tomato, organic greens and bacon. All food is organic and grown locally. Wines are local as well and served at the table or in their upstairs wine bar. I was very pleased with the service and ambiance, food was excellent, a little pricey $$$. Rated ****

My love for this restaurant leads me to read the reviews on occasion. I can tell by the bad reviews that the customers overall experience was due to cheap forks and spoons, the young "high school kids working in the kitchen, and too the poor selection of good wines. Really!!!! As for the forks and spoons....well that speaks for itself. The "children" working in the kitchen are great cooks that are willing to work long hours and trained to do there jobs! (and by the way...they are still working there) As for the wine selection, perhaps it was the pallet of the customer! Overall, being a wine lover and knowing that the dinner ware was clean and unbroken, I have not been unimpressed with the quality and sourcing of the food served at this location. The owner of the Wildflower has a prolific assortment of wines to suit many of the customers pallets (if they know their wines at al they should know what to orderl). To everyone who works hard at this fine restaurant, keep up the good work. Love what they do for the community! From a very loyal customer!
