The only reason why I am giving Blueberry Café 2 stars is because I did enjoy the food. Unfortunately, there is more to a restaurant than the food being delicious (and it is), but the service is less than satisfactory. The very first time I had gone, the service was great. The second and 2 times after that, we got seated with the server with the tigger tattoo on his leg. (Great choice btw) He was the most unfriendly, unprofessional, and just downright RUDE server I have EVER been with. When my friend had a question about the omelet he proceeded to cut her off and talk down to her. He kept saying, "Okay, what do you want" in a tone I would describe to be comparable to a snotty teenager. He had cut me off earlier when I had had a question as well and I honestly should have gotten up and left after the first encounter. I thought that maybe he was having a bad day, but I do remember the few times before that I had gone, he was just as rude. When I was checking out I was going to mention something to the host because at that point I was so upset by the way we had been spoken to and treated our entire meal. When I went to check out, I was not asked how the meal was, in fact the host acted like I was bothering him so much to be standing at the counter that he ignored me for a few min and finally came over and checked me out. There were other people in line to be checked out so I was trying to get out of the way so the people behind me could be check out as well, so I went back to my table which was the one right next to the door. We were about to get up and the same guy (host) came over and I had accidentally taken his pen (honest mistake) and he holds the pen in front of me like he was making a point to "show" me what I had done and says "um, my pen" in a the most rude tone and walks away. I was SHOCKED. My friend looked at me wide eyed and said "did that really happen?". At that point I was just ready to get out of there because I had realized that it probably didnt matter who I was talking to, they were probably just going to be just as terrible. Its such a shame because I really did enjoy their food, but I will never go back because of the way my friend and I were treated. He also had been rude to my husband and father-in-law previously and they also had given him the benefit of the doubt saying he had a bad day, but now we know that he is just not a nice person period. I never write reviews unless they are good and I really hate being this person, but someone needs to know and something should change. I have worked as a server and host before and even if I hadnt, there is absolutely no excuse to treat someone they way they do. It is not okay. I was not rude. we were not demanding. In fact, my order was wrong and I didnt say a word. I did not want to cause trouble or upset Tigger any further. I was always told, dont ever be rude to the people who serve your food, do your hair, or anyone who does a service for you period. I still believe that but there was no reason for his attitude at all. All in all, service is horrible. Food is great, but I am more apt to go to a place with fantastic service and okay food. The experience is everything.

My fiance and I decided to try out the Blue Berry Cafe after coworkers recommended it. The first time we went there was an hour wait so we left and decided to try on a different weekend earlier in the morning. So we arrived this morning at 9:30. They told us it would be about a 20 minute wait for two of us and since Id heard it was so good, we decided to wait. An hour later we sat down at our table. They have a ton of Vera Bradley purses in their waiting area and people stand shoulder to shoulder waiting for their table to be called. The restaurant is very small with a ton of tables crammed really close together. Our waiter was abrasive when he took our order. The coffee was terrible. It tasted like stale Folgers Coffee. When we got our food I got something similar to what I ordered, but it wasnt what I ordered. Since I was starving after the hour and fifteen minute wait to get my food, I decided to stick with it. The pancake was really good - they used some fall-esc spices like nutmeg in it. Other than that the food was all pretty standard. It is cooked in real butter and a lot of it, which I think is a good thing, but health conscious people may not. The muffin man was the highlight of the breakfast. He came around with a tray of muffins that he had made and was pretty entertaining. We got a huge pumpkin cream cheese muffin and it was only $2.99. When we were ready to leave we sat there for 10 minutes trying to get someones attention for a to go box (The serving sizes are about 3 times what I can comfortably eat in one sitting so I have breakfast for the next couple days). The prices are really good for how much food you get. I left thinking "I dont get it." The food was good, but it wasnt amazing. The service was terrible, the coffee was terrible, and the wait was terrible. Why do people wait more than an hour for food here? Maybe we ordered the wrong things. I simply dont get it.

The server and Manager were very friendly and I completely understand it being busy on a Sunday afternoon. That being said, I ordered coffee and asked for milk on the side and I was brought the coffee with no milk. We asked our server again for milk and she didnt come back. Had to ask the Manager for milk and by that time the coffee was tepid. I had to ask for a refill by stopping the waitress as she rushed by. My Pancake was unappetizing as it tasted like there was clove mixed in the batter. I am not a fan of clove and it was very strong. I could smell it before I tasted it. Maybe people like that, but I think they should advertise on the menu that it is in the batter. I ate less than 1/4 of the plate sized pancake. The bacon was very good. Again, everyone was friendly, but I am not sure I will return.

Nice little "mom and pop" café in charming Bellbrook. Sort of a Yellow Springs hipness to it, bright and cheerful, definitely informal. All age groups, ethnicities, singles and married with kids would be comfortable here. On a weekday morning you may be seated immediately or after a short wait. On weekends, the earlier, the better. The after-church crowd on Sunday can be fairly heavy. My menu selections have all been very good. The portions are ample and I never leave hungry. The dining room is a little close but navigable. The wait staff has always been pleasant enough, even cheery, in my experience. Perhaps those offended by the occasional tattoo should stay at Bob Evans.
