The place has a great view of the marina and Lake Erie, but then drops off from there. Ive been going there for the last few years and the overall experience just keeps going down as youll noticed in many of the other posts recently. I cant emphasize enough that the current wait staff and management is atrocious there. I can get better service at McDonalds. They dont check up on you, they dont fill waters, and they are insanely slow with bringing out anything (food, beverages, even utensils). Its unacceptable. My girlfriend and I ordered two salads (the same ones) off the lunch menu a few weeks ago and both came out differently roughly a half hour after we ordered the,. How do you screw that up?? Incompetency, laziness, or just dont care? I dont know. Too make matters worse we had to argue with manager who was unapologetic about the problem and proceeded to tell us thats how theyre supposed to be. What???? Manager asked what he could do for us? My Answer: Nothing! Why? 1) Because what I order on the menu, might not be what I receive. 2) I dont want to argue with the manager on what should and shouldnt be on the menu. If it says something, you should prepare it properly. If you dont have it, have wait staff tell customers or cross it off the menu! How hard is that? 3) New menu? How about printing some paper menus out letting people know what youre serving? This isnt rocket science! 4) I dont have another half hour to sit there and wait for the staff to potentially screw up the order again. Save your headaches with the staff!! If you want great views of Lake Erie and not deal with incompetent/rude staff there are other places in Lorain/Vermilion you can go to such as Castillo Real (looks like a castle), Rose Cafe, or Quaker Steak. We ended up going to Castillo Real afterwards and they even messed up my tacos. Only difference is they were friendly, took care of the problem in a timely manner, were apologetic, and took the tacos off the bill. I cant say the same for the people that work at Jackalopes. Fool me once, shame on them. Fool me twice, shame on me. I refuse to come back to this place.

In one word, HORRIBLE! The service was unbelieveably slow, near impossible to get even water refills, additional iced teas and soft beverages didnt come! Simple salads all came at a different time, some of our party were done with theirs before the others came. We were only a party of 6 so it shouldnt have been so hard to bring out the food at the same time! The entrees were even worse! Took so long to come and again some were done eating, they had to eat because it was getting cold, before others even got their meals!! The same entrees were not prepared the same, and they also came at a different time, one swimming in sauce the other dry. Several request to remove the dirty dishes and they still were on the table, appetizer and salad dishes barely left room for the entree plates. The waiter blamed the chef the chef blamed the waiter! The food was mediocre at best, no wonder the place was empty! This place really went downhill and the food was way over priced! The only good thing was the bread but when asking for more it never came. The outside of the restraunt was a mess, the stairwell was dirty and the entry way needed to be cleaned. This was a nice place at one time but its not anymore and of course there was no manager available to talk to. Dont waste your time or money going here! I wish there was a lower rating because I would give it out!

We arrived on a Sunday for an early dinner. The patio was full, but the dining room was fairly empty, so we got a nice table in the back corner with a nice view. Our server arrived within 2 minutes of us sitting down. She was very nice and very attentive throughout the whole meal. I started with lobster bisque, followed by a perch sandwich and 1lb of crab legs. The bisque was good, although a little salty. It is made in-house, but it would have been nice to see some nice big chunks of lobster in there. Next was the perch sandwich. I love Lake Erie perch and figured it would be the freshest item on the menu. The sandwich was pretty standard with breaded perch, lettuce, tomato, and red onion, on a hamburger bun. It also came with lemon slices, a cup of tartar sauce, and a side item (I had rice). Unfortunately, the perch pieces were very thin, but they were heavily breaded, so there was actually very little actual fish per bite. The sandwich was just not that spectacular for the price (about $10). The snow crab legs were good. Had some nice big pieces of meat. Again, nothing spectacular, but good. Overall, the best part of this restaurant is the view. The food is good, and will satisfy, but on the expensive side. Really, you are paying for the view.

First time visiting Lake Erie, wonderful location... but the experienced at Jackalope was awful. The staff "acted" friendly , but was so sarcastic and condescending. I dont complain about price of food, but for a Alfredo and shrimp dish, costing 15$ was very bland, and had no taste... the shrimp tasted like frozen shrimp that was warmed up in a microwave and put in the dish. My dinner came with nothing else.. no salad or bread. Our waitress gave us our food.. walked away and didnt come back until we were finished.. I saw her MANY times on her cell phone ... we had to ask for our bill. and waited another 10 mins for her to come pick up our bill to pay... the whole time we waited... she was on her phone and talking to her other co-workers. she gave us our receipt and said "Have a wonderful night, see you soon" while she said that she didnt look at us and was walking away while saying that. SO rude. I have waited before.. and I never treated anyone like that.. ever. I would just rethink on going here. sucks that we ended our night upset because of house expensive the bill was when food was awful and service was just horrible.

My Fiance and I had dinner there yesterday evening. I was extremly disappointed with the service, our food and the over all ambience. We asked to be seated inside due to the outside wait was 45min. The hostess took us to a table in the corner of the room that made me feel as if we were not even a part of the resturant not to mention the sun beaming in the window that had no shade to pull down. I had to wear my sunglasses just to be somewhat comfortable. Then I ordered a ceaser salad with grilled shrimp, my fiance ordered the main lobster sandwich. This took nealy 40 minutes to get our food and then my shrimp was not grilled. We had to ask another server for additional drinks and bread as our server did not offer us any. Over all I was extremly disappointed with everything.

SLOW SERVICE, AND NO FOOD!!! My party and I were going to this restaurant on a Monday expecting to get French Dips and Seafood, but not as we had expected half the menu wasnt available. The waiters said that it was because they used all their food over the weekend! We all had to get grilled chicken sandwhiches! You are looking over the marina, but also over a parking lot, and that is absolutely NOT what we were expecting to look over. The survice was slow, which meant after being there for 30 minutes we then got the food we ordered. I do not recommend this place for anyone, because you need to have a menu with ALL the items available to be a good restaraunt.
