This has been our favorite Indian restaurant in Columbus for the last eight years. Like any restaurant, they have had their occasional slips, but by far the service has been fine and the food flavorful, and a great value. I was very surprised to see a couple of poor reviews recently, all I can think is that the cases were exceptions. I love the buffet, and on our trip there within the last week the Shahi Paneer was the BEST I have EVER tasted. Their paneer dishes are great and with plenty of paneer, I think the person who couldnt find enough in the buffet sauce must have come behind someone who had scooped a lot out from the sauce. I would ask the person who wrote that review to try the buffet at a different time. Their buffet is a very good value during the week. The weekend buffet is a little more, but they offer more variety on their entrees, have a special appetizer samosa/chat station and special desert choices. The staff do check the buffet bar VERY frequently and do a good job of bringing out fresh dishes. They have dishes ranging from mild to spicy (which are identified). We eat both vegetarian and meat dishes, and have enjoyed both here. The bar always serves Dahl soup, a lovely basmati rice, samosas and/or assorted vegetable pakora, naan, batura, saag paneer and a salad bar. For entrees there are always vegetarian and chicken biryani, tandoori chicken. They usually have 3 more vegetarian dishes which vary but often include a paneer or vegetarian Kafti (fritter) dish, a chickpea or lentil dish, and a potato dish such as Aloo Gobi or the like. The meat dishes usually include Chicken Mahkni which is a nice milder tomato based curry dish- good for "beginners", a chicken curry, a goat curry, and an additional dish such as chicken vindaloo. The salad bar has basic salad mix, add ins, their chutney/sauce area and some other lovely cool relish choices. Their mango custard often has fruit cocktail or tropical fruit mix in it. We also regularly order off the menu. -Yes you can order off the menu during buffet hours unlike some other Indian restaurants in town. We LOVE their Lamb Korma and Mater Paneer! Yumm! My husband will often order the lamb while I get the buffet and I admit that I have made an extra trip to the buffet for a piece of naan so that I can get the last bits of Korma sauce out of the dish! It is soooo good! So please give this restaurant a try. We like to bring friends here that are curious about Indian food because the dishes as so savory and they have such a nice variety. Once we bring them- they always want to come back!

I visited this location for their Saturday lunch buffet. Overall I was very pleased with the level of service and the food they offered. The servers and management provide very professional service, but are also very relaxed and at ease. They are quick to provide refills and remove used plates. The food is very good. I was expecting some slightly spicier fare with some of the curries offered, but otherwise, everything was fresh, hot, and very flavorful. My favorite dish they offered was the Saag. The bhatura bread was also very good. Additionally, they had some dishes I had never tried, nor even knew existed. I had to ask what they were called. They offered Samosa Chat, which is a chick pea veggie dish served over a crispy bread. They add onions, cilantro, tomatoes, etc. to taste as well. It was great! I also tried the gulab jamun, which is a sweet cheese ball in syrup. It tasted very unique and was very sweet, but not as I expected. Definitely a tasty surprise. The atmosphere in the restaurant is subdued, with very dark colors and earth tones. Plenty of light though. There is a large cocktail bar. Very kid friendly, I saw a lot of families bring their kids in, ranging from toddlers up. Overall, for $11.99 this is a great place to eat lunch on the weekends ($9.99 weekdays). I left full and happy. Recommended!

It is located in a stripmall. So not so fancy but in first look seems clean. The staff in the blue shirts seems sensible and professional, but the one who takes order seems like she seemed dull andIt took her 10 min to take the order and that too only after one staff in blue nudged her. Anayways but she was nice..Well same is true for other Indian restaurant as they are run by non professionals. Now about food.. I ordered veg thali.. The appetizer tikki was somewhat tasteless no stuffing inside a pure potato cake.. But not too bad. And green chutney may be no salt to serve everybodys need but no salt is different than low salt. Now jumping on Thali.. Almost all things low salt. Nan was fresh. So were other things.. Paneer was rich seems like shahi paneer gravy.. Chole not typical chana masala but a more milder with less spices. Raita was wonderful.. Nothing was too oily or heavy.. Appears to be healthy..and sufficient quantity...then I ordered tea which dissapointed me.. But food I would give 4..one star less just because of the tea. Update: I went for a dinner again.. The staff recognized me.. Treated me like a preferred customer.. With a big smile... Awesome health food close to what I would cook at home...super ...very happy. Changing my score to 5 stars.

The restaurant is definitely not terrible. I found the service and appetizer to be quite good. However, the rest of my food - the main course and dessert - were terrible. I did not finish my food. The main reason I am writing the review is not to bad mouth the restaurant but to warn about the obviously manipulated rating provided by google. I am a business traveler of Indian origin and eat out in Indian restaurants all over. I drove all the way to this restaurant as my google map showed its rating to be considerably higher than nearer restaurants - and it was rather disappointing. I am quite certain it does not come near being the best Indian restaurants in town. If you are close by, by all means try it. Your choices might well turn out better than mine. However, do not believe you are going to the best or better than the others Indian restaurants in Columbus. It is not. After my trip - I checked the Best of Columbus in the local paper and the restaurant is not mentioned anywhere, when Google seems to find it a cut above the rest. So, do not be influenced by Google ratings here...

The best Indian buffet in Columbus, all things considered. The price is relatively cheap considering the quality of the food. There is a little bit of everything at the buffet: vegetarian, non-vegetarian, desserts, and what I consider to be the best Chai Ive had yet. All of it is at the right temperature and tastes delicious. It may be a small operation but there is enough selection at the buffet to satisfy anyones pallet. This place had been hiding in my neighborhood and I never had the guts to try Indian food up until about 2 years ago. Its a family operation and it shows (in a good way). When I come in during lunch, they always recognize me and my friends. Very friendly people and that was very much appreciated during my first visit where I didnt even know what to get and they were more than happy to guide me through. I also see a lot of South Asians eating here which has to be a good sign. Ive tried about a dozen other places around the northwest side of town and nothing compares to the overall awesomeness that is Amul India. Im getting hungry just writing this!
