Good food, good drinks, terrible WIFI - as several other reviews have mentioned. The wireless internet has only been working 1 out of the past 4 times I have been to Apropos, and honestly seems to be getting worse instead of better - I have been there at least 3 or 4 dozen times over the past 3 years, and around half of the time the wifi is either non-functional or sporadic. They will give an excuse as to why its not working but it never seems to change and God forbid you ask if they could reset the router. It may not seem like a big deal, but most nights 90% of the people in there are students (like me) trying to do their homework, so you think theyd cater a little more to their demographic. Food is decent, even good - the dinner specials they have weeknights from 4 to 8 are reasonably priced for an entree and a beer. Id try their sandwiches; pizza has been reliably super dry every time Ive had it. I think their strong suit is coffee and dessert, which is what Im usually in the mood for when I come here anymore. Unfortunately Ive found myself coming to Apropos less and less of late; its partly the Wifi, but also the fact that the staff seem indifferent and even hostile to their customers. Of course, you can expect to be treated with benign neglect at Kerouac or Travonna as well, but several times Ive seen the manager berating the cashiers or actual customers over things like mixed-up order or people asking about the Wifi. Apropos seems to want to be a "classier" establishment, with wine tasting and promoting themselves as a "true European espresso bar", and I wonder if that has to do with their seeming disregard for their actual clientele - young people.

The good. Wine, beer, coffee, wifi, decent prices, not Starbucks. The bad. Some of the employees have no idea what good customer service is. Employees HATE making any type of food. They will whine and make you feel like crap for ordering anything, even if they arent busy. I walked up to the counter to get an iced tea refill and before I could even open my mouth I was abruptly told it would be 10 minutes before she could get to me... for an iced tea re-fill... There was no line. No one was waiting for a drink. She was just busy making someone a sandwich or something. There was even another employee there. She is not the only employee that Ive seen this type of rudeness from. The guy who works during the day routinely makes people feel like crap for ordering food or just tells them he isnt making food anymore because hes too busy. Ive witnessed this behavior too many times to go back. Which is a shame because I used to really like it. I have no idea how they are still in business with this type of staff. I guess people are getting used to bad customer service. To the owner/managers, stick with bagels and pre-made sandwiches. It works for most coffee shops and the staff can easily handle it without too much bitching.

A small coffee shop, cafe, and pub. Some high-backed armchairs and a couch make for cozy reading or drinking in one corner by the decorative fireplace, while most of the rest of the shop has booths, stools, and tables. Not a fancy or trendy space, but its clean and better kept than some other options in the area. Music is generally soft in the background. Sometimes a loud party shows up, but usually its pretty quiet. There are outlets for plugging in laptops, but not every seat has one. Wifi is free; just ask at the counter for the password. Staff serves up coffee, of course, and other hot drinks, which I usually like, and small bar too with beer, wine, and some liquor and cocktails. I think I like the bar as much or more than the coffee. Serves up some baked goods and cake slices from a glass case, while a small selection of hot food and sandwiches is available until late at night. There are better eating destinations in the neighborhood, but for a coffee shop its pretty good. Its a good place to work or relax comfortably, with reliable food and good coffee and drinks as the need arises.

This is a great coffee shop/full service bar. It gets lots of Ohio State students and its quiet enough for studying. They have the best ice cold brew coffee Ive had so far in town, nice and smooth, not bitter, unlike some other places. Plus they have all their draft beers for $3 for happy hour between 4-8, everyday, with 12 beers on tap (but theres almost always a few of them sold out.) You can also buy bottles of wine and get glasses to drink them there with no extra cork fee. The downside here is that the Wi-Fi has been pretty bad recently, especially when there are 20+ people on their laptops. It used to be so much better, which is a disappointment, because their once reliable Wi-Fi was a major reason why I started coming here (that and the $3 drafts!).

This place would be much nicer if they expanded. It seems to be a very popular place to study and catch up with friends. The barista was kind and one of the other staff members helped people find appropriate seating. I am not giving it a 5 star rating because of the seating... from where I was sitting, I could not access an outlet and I really felt crowded from every angle. I left after only an hour of studying because it was too overwhelming. The coffee was alright -- much better than Cup of Joe or Staufs, but certainly nothing like the coffee shops back home. I will likely revisit if I figure out when theyre less busy.

Great place to go to when you want to get work done. If you are like me and prefer to be "comfortable" while you work on stuff but are too easily distracted when you are at home, this place is great. There is a nook where you can choose from a sofa and a couple of armchairs to post up in. There is also a table in the middle of that setup if you want to utilize that for a study break with an assortment of board games next to area. There is also a portion of the Cafe for those who prefer your standard table and chairs in front of the register which is nice.

The coffee is great. The ambiance is top notch. You cannot find a better iced chai tea in the city. However the food is spotty. What theyve got when theyve got it,its usually good. However they seem to have quiet an issue with keeping eggs stocked. They have great egg sandwiches, but about 50% of the time they dont have them. The staff seems very curfuffled about this but it persists...something about the owner. The rest is muffled and trails off. However for cofee a big thumbs up.

I have spent many nights here with the boyfriend or some friends and a few bottles of wine over a board game or a good conversation. No up-charge on the wine and you can relax while you enjoy it in good company. They have a good selection of reds, whites, beer, and even some baked goods. I would imagine its a good place for coffee too. They also have pizza night once a week which is a great deal. Love it- have recommended it to many friends.
