When a truly special occasion comes around and its time to treat yo self, Ginko should be on your shortlist of celebration spots! Or, if youre alone in Tremont at Happy Hour on a random Tuesday, Ginko should also be in your sights then! The Best Sushi in Cleveland is enough to make any day feel special. Everything on the menu is a must-try, but here are some high notes that you should really try to hit on a first visit: - Oshi Sushi - Unagi and Foie Gras: Crispy Eel, perfectly sweet and salty, over a thin layer of Foie Gras on a rectangular bed of perfect sumeshi, embedded with a fresh shisho leaf. 6 pieces. This dish is an overwhelming sensory delight that melts in your mouth. I get it each and every time I go! - The Zeppelin: Akin to Ginkos version of a Rainbow Roll: classic and executed flawlessly. - Spicy Scallop Chips: A totally unexpected, innovative dish that will cause you to exclaim with pleasure. Ginko even elevates the most basic sushi bar fare: miso soup becomes Truffled Miso Soup with Lobster. The California Roll is stuffed with lump crab and tobiko. I also recommend openly seeking recommendations from the staff and enthusiastically trying anything that they might suggest; its a small staff and they are all steeped in sushi wisdom. The service here is always incredible!

Summary: Warm environment. Good food. Reasonable prices. This place is matched for a person who wants to experience a Kyoto-based sushi experience without the Americanization common to other places. My wife and I (sushi novices) thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The ambiance was fun, the food was well prepared, and the staff was very helpful. The entrance is down some lit stone stairs and opens into a warm single room w/ bar. We began talking to the manager, Quintin, who taught us some Japanese culture and claimed Ginko has the only truly Japanese sushi ?chef?. The sushi was beautiful, delicious, and ~$10/roll. Was the sushi superior to all other rolls Ive had? No, but it was still in the top third. Would I recommend this place to a friend? Absolutely. My wife wants to add the rolls were on the small side and didnt have cream cheese (gasp).

Classy, professional and very distinctive. This restaurant deserves 5 stars in all aspects, even given that its located in a basement and seating is very limited. I was absolutely delighted at how much attention to detail and quality to preparation is stressed by the chefs here. This is definitely a restaurant to visit if you value quality over quantity and believe that quality is very important regarding fish and its preparation. The fish used in dishes is supremely fresh here, and was amongst the highest quality that I have eaten to date. Prices are moderately high depending on what one selects. Nigiri is definitely on the steep side of the $$$ spectrum at $3-$9 a piece, but worth the money.

Terrific atmosphere. Fabulous waitress. The food was comparable to other sushi restaurants of this caliber and price. WHY ONLY 2 STARS? The chef was rude, and unwelcoming given many attempts on our part. He served a very delicious looking dessert to a party of 3 sitting beside us at the bar and when we asked what it was he told us "not for sale." .We will never go back. Tried it over going to Shintos in Strongsville only because Dantes is extraordinary! Rude Chef should smile once in awhile and at least pretend to.appreciate his customers...other great places where chef does to pick from. Sorry to the rest of the staff.

Great cozy place in the basement of an old bank building. The server is very attentive and brought out nice warm towels for us. We went during lunch time, very limited menu, 100% sushi, no udon noodle, no gyoza (pot sticker), no hibachi, no stri fried. We ordered main lobster, king crab roll, and Ginza roll. All above average, but not live up with the price. The only highlight of the meal is the home made green tea cheesecake topped with strawberry sherbet. In my opinion, the place is overpriced, overrated. With the money you spent, you can have a nice meal somewhere else.

Best place is Cleveland for Amazing sushi. Once you go to Ginko youll never go anywhere else. We Love Gino. Been going to Ginko for 3 years now, this was based on the recommendation of a co-worker. Have never regretted it. Last time I was here I finally ordered the Chefs choice there was a ton of sashimi and nigiri, well worth it. Plan to get this every time from now on. +1

Best sushi in Cleveland. The quality of the fish is absolutely superb. Dont waste your time on rolls or their tasting menu - theyre all distractions (and at times poorly made ones) from the fish. Just sit at the bar and eat your fill of sashimi and nigiri - theyre the only reasons why you would come here. Decent beer list with some hard to find bottles (Hitachino).

Frequent visitor here - excellent for "get away from the office" Friday lunch and even better for a night out. Limited seating but you can coordinate reservations with Dante upstairs for desert. Jumbo shrimp tempura is my favorite followed by unagi. Theres also a great app thats unagi and foie gras - so good! Drinks are great , too (try the ginger martini!)

Lucked out and got seated immediately upon arrival - Its casually authentic, being a small and private basement sushi joint. Would make a great date spot. We found they served exceptional sushi...Nice complex flavors and variety. Price was on point for the quality. Dont overlook the Happy Hour deals, and be sure to save room for the green tea cheesecake!

I have to say it.. is expensive... but the food I had was amazing! I tried a wide variety of fish of really high quality. The place is small and cozy, and you can eat while watching the chef preparing the dishes. It was definitely a good experience.

This is certainly the best sushi Ive had in Cleveland and maybe the best sushi Ive had period. I also love the setting. It feels like it was transplanted from a bigger city and set in Tremont. Nothing but great things to say about this place.

Just ordered from uber eats, spent 20 on two meals. California roll and soft crab roll. They gave me eight pieces of California and TWO pieces of soft crab roll. Are you kidding me!? Never again will I choose them .Terrible and a ripoff.

Overpriced, food was bland, tables were open the entire meal and they refused to seat guests anywhere but the bar. I really like sushi places, just not this sushi place. Reeks of pretension. Utterly underwhelming.

Great setting and atmosphere. Food was very good. Overpriced and small portions held my rating back. I have eaten sushi from east to west coast and they were some of the smallest cuts of fish I have seen.

Great sushi! Everything is prepared in front of you; majority of seating is at the sushi bar. Servers are attentive and helpful explaining the menu. Feels like walking into a sushi restaurant in Tokyo!
