Alright so lets just be real here for a minute. Having the word "Sushi" in the name of your restaurant should probably mean youve committed to preparing it properly and at least with a shred of dignity. I was on vacation visiting my Grandmother and she took my wife and I here. If my lovely, sweet grandmother wasnt around Im pretty sure my wife would have flipped out completely as shes Eastern European and takes food very seriously. First problem right away was they didnt serve sake, ok thats weird and annoying, but Ill let it slide. The next issue was we open the menu to the apps and they show a pic of grilled squid, yet no grilled squid on the menu...my wife asks for it and apparently they will do it, however I dont recommend ordering it unless you enjoy gnawing on pure rubber. They put a sweet and sour sauce on it (not proper) and we ended up sending it back as it was inedible; absolutely unacceptable, they didnt even attempt to make it right. Then came the sushi...and I use that term very loosely. First off it was lukewarm and almost tasted like it had been sitting under a heat lamp as the plate was warm. The "fish" they use is a blend..NOT FRESH..a blend...Ive NEVER seen this. If you order a roll with salmon/yellowtail/tuna...thats exactly what you get, accept its in paste form. A mashed up blend of fish that I fear probably comes from a giant tub. No actual pieces of fish at all, just this nasty mix of garbage. Our rage was building at this point, but we held it in for grandmas sake, it was awful as the prices of this stuff was high to boot. We also ordered fried eggplant, which came out late and was all breading and very little eggplant, disgusting, and house lo mein. The lo mein was the only thing palatable all night, and it was borderline. The noodles were overcooked and only some of the shrimp were de-veined...Anyways, I think Ive beat on "Sushi" Asia Gourmet enough for one day, its only a sushi restaurant in the same was McDonalds is a burger joint. I wouldnt recommend this place to anyone, D+...

Just ate there today and I can hands down, as someone who is very picky about fish, say that this is the best sushi I have ever had. The presentation, combined with the respect of staff, makes for such a lovely experience. I get anxious at most other food places, but here it is like I am coming home for a celebratory meal. The fish they serve, across the board, comes through with their unique flavors and reminds me of the fish that one can get from a local market. The other offerings, particularly soups, are never over salted and thus the broths never overwhelm the ingredients. Their salads are fresh and crisp as well, and I would definitely buy their ginger dressing if I could as it seems homemade. Their dishes of beef and chicken are so authentic and tasty that I dont feel like I am eating americanized sauces or broths, and their rice is never soggy or too dry. Their tempura is super good too! The staff I cant speak well enough of; they are like family. Whenever my girlfriend and I dont eat there for a while, they always ask how we have been. That all being said, this place is my favorite for comfort food and a little slice of something different. Whenever I need something to make me "live to eat", Sushi Asia Gourmet is the place to remind me that I have come far enough since starting to eat there to do so. Thank you, Staff of S.A.G. for your devotion to food. I hope business keeps picking up! -

We have been here several times and each time things have gotten worse. Today we walked in with half of the staff napping in booths. We ordered a Budweiser and a Moscato and instead got a Chardonnay and Moscato. The spicy tuna and spicy scallop were okay, though not cold at all. We ordered a Rainbow Naruto, $12.95, and got 3/4 cucumber with a tiny amount of tuna and salmon with an even smaller amount of avocodo and no crab meat. When we complained we were told we should have asked questions about what we were ordering and they made it seem as though we were in the wrong. So, in short, we are never going there again and we made sure to let them know. (They didnt seem to care)

The service was slow, on a non busy night. Tuesday night, 4 people in the whole place and it took 45 minutes to get our food, not to mention the 20 minutes we waited to get served. The crab Rangoon was cold, the miso soup was cold and stale, and the entrees we ordered came out undercooked and awful tasting. I asked for fried rice 3 times and never got it. This place has decent sushi but the food and service was awful. After not eating any of the food, and telling them wed like to leave, they refused twice to take the food off our bill. Why would I pay for something that I didnt eat? What a joke.

Food is very good. The only place in Ohio I didnt spit out sushi rolls! Its not even that its just ok, its actually the best in Akron in my opinion!! They have a wide selection of Asian food. Although Ive had better Thai food from what they serve here, its still not that bad (tried pad Thai and Tom yum soup) . The staff is very friendly. My favorite is John! Make sure you introduce yourself to him if you plan to keep coming back coz he will take care of you.

The food is always SO flavorful and the portions are SO generous, service when youre seated at the restaurant is expedient and friendly- you can really tell they value their customers a lot! Will order online and have it delivered any chance I can get because of how pleasant the experience I had was. Definitely try the mixed vegetables with steamed rice and prawn in the brown sauce.

Look past the sushi and try the Sichuan menu. Their Sichuan food is as authentic as it gets: spicy, sweet, sour, salty, smoky, and fragrant. Some dishes I recommend: the spicy beef brisket noodle soup, double sauteed slice pork, dried pot beef, spicy crispy fish filet, ma po tofu with minced pork, and dan dan noodles. Portions are huge relative to the price. Rice is unlimited.

My friends curry chicken was quite good after she seasoned it with pepper oil. I unfortunately tried to consume the worst General Tsos chicken I have ever ordered. It was extremely tough as if it had been prepared weeks ago and frozen. Chicken McNuggets with sauce would have been better. The weak green tea was also warm at best with only one tea bag. I will not return.

Nothing was terrible, and nothing was really good. We went about a month after they opened. Tuna tartare was served with crappy little bagged potato chips, we needed a fork to eat. A lot of stuff was on the sweet side. Lots of other good sushi spots in the area, so I probably wont be back. Service was not great.

Probably the best sushi I have had since I moved to Akron. Basic rolls are excellent, and the specialty rolls are fabulous! The Angel Wing specialty roll is my favorite. I mostly order online and take out to take advantage of their 15% online order discount, but the restaurant is clean and has a modern atmosphere.
