We didnt receive silverware or napkins upon arriving. Our appetizer, sausage dip, was actually good but that was probably because the sage sausage is made at the local Thompson store. My husband ordered a catfish sandwich with fries, I ordered shrimp tacos which according to the menu comes with coleslaw, and a DRIZZLE of Asian chili sauce. Between appetizer and entree our waitress never checked on us. I had to flag down another waitress to refill our drinks. When out food was served my husbands fries were cold, the coleslaw was awful, so thick and not seasoned at all! When he bit into his catfish sandwich water poured out, which the manager later informed us that it was because the fish was frozen) My fish tacos was drenched in the chili sauce, the shrimp was soggy and the coleslaw was so thick and tasteless that I took one bite and was done. The manager came over and defended the food, she actually charged me 25% of the price for literally taking one bite out of 1 of the 2 tacos on the plate . To sum up this place tasteless food, poor service, overpriced food and just as bad atmosphere. Needless to say we wont be returning. Do yourself and a favor and head over to the Purple Onion , the wait is totally worth it! From Panama City, Fl Travel the US to work so we eat a lot of different places, this is by far one of the worst.

Im a local too and I will definitely be back! Ive eaten at many good restaurants in this area and have never written a review on any of them before...I always felt "taste" was personal and anyone can have a "good or bad" day. The reason Im writing my review today is because Ive realized this restaurant is unique! No, not because of the CONSISTENLY tender and great tasting Bar B Que dishes they serve, youd expect that from a Bar B Que restaurant that has been around (and is still growing) this long! The reason this place is unique is because along with their great food , its the only place I can honestly say I enjoy going to because it always seems "right" no matter what the occasion! Ive gone there when Ive been alone ( and needed a treat!), with my husband when we were carving out some long over due, One-on-One, time and when I was meeting a larger group! Its always the "right" place to go! Its not often you can say, with consistency, you know youll eat and feel good , no matter what the scenario is! Yup, in my world, this place is worthy of a review!

Went to this place to have ribs as I was told it was a great local place. showed up and tables were dirty and waitress was dressed like she was going to the beach with her girlfriends. took our order after 15 minutes of sitting there. Then 45 minutes later when the 2 tables next to us who arrived after we did got served she told us ours was coming "soon". 10 minutes later still no food everyone eating around us and she told us the oven was full but it should not be much longer. 10 minutes later , 1 hr after getting there , ribs arrived ice cold. Not cold Ice cold.like straight from the fridge. When I complained and asked how it could be that the ribs could be cold Waitress got pissed off and rude as if it was my fault. . I asked for manager and when manager showed up she offered to reheat the ribs. they took the ribs and the nasty rude waitress ran back into kitchen following her and we were certain that she was going to spit in our food so we paid the 6.00 for 2 drinks and left. Dont go to this place please save your selves!! Run, run fast very fast.

PLEASE dont waste your time and eat here if u are a tourist they are only interested to service locals and I am fairly sure people only eat there cause they have cheap weekly specials, however: 1. Nasty and rude waitress 2. Dont care about you or your food 3. Food was cold after 1 hr waiting for ribs and catfish 4. Slow slow slow and when you ask where your food is they get nasty and lie and then get defensive. This place needs a makeover starting with firing everyone that works there and teaching the new staff that People Eating there pay their salaries Sad very sad Oh I forgot: no silverware on table and waitress when we asked for silverware came Back with a fork saying"sorry, there are no roll ups left this is all we have". As she walked away we asked "can we get a napkin" she looked angry and returned with ONE. How long does it take to roll up a few forks and knives in napkins for goodness sake??

We researched this restaurant and read the reviews for it before we left for Saluda. After our food arrived to our table, we soon learned that the sides were better than the chopped pork. The pork was dry and had absolutely no smoked flavor. It tasted like the meat had been cooked in an uncovered frying pan, until it was almost pork jerky. My wife and I both found bone chips in the meat as well, which is a big turn-off for us. The pig-tail fries were good and so was the tomato pie, but those two hush puppies must have been cooked the day before. Overall, the food was just okay, but it was pricey. The cost of the large plate was just a few dollars less that a full rack of ribs where we live. I dont think we will come back for more.

I live in Columbia, SC but grew up in the Mountains. I lived in Hendersonville from 1999 to 2000, and I LIVED to eat barbecue at the Green River. Not only is the barbecue the best I have ever eaten, the large variety of county sides are to die for. The french fried sweet potatoes are a treat that I cant find in SC. The collard greens are the way my grandmother used to make them. I smell the mountain air eating on the porch if its not too cold, close my eyes and it takes me back 55 years to my Grandfathers old home place of hwy 64, and my Grandmother cooking. Dont know what I would do if I could not periodically drive up to Green River and get my FIX! Fabulous place, great staff, easy to find.

Got a pulled pork sandwich and fries came with a little cup of coleslaw. Fries came out cold so I asked other sides do they have choose the Mac and cheese. The pulled pork sandwich was OK the mild BBQ which on a side note has there name on it dk if they really make it but the was great Cole slaw was awesome ordered another small cup.OK so to give the whole order I had water with the meal. The check was 14 and some change so its pricey and if you charge me for the Mac and cheese cause your fries where cold dont agree with that but it was 820 pm when I walked in tired from the day so there is my first ever experience.thats the good and the bad

First came here several months ago with a small group from church taking a short day trip to Saluda to visit the shops close by and have lunch. I brought my husband back telling him I had a surprise place for him to try. He was as impressed as I was. The BBQ is outstanding and sauces are very good. The sides are exellent and number of choices should please even the most picky of eaters. Weve been back several times. We have found our new bbq place since the Bar-B-Q Inn closed in Asheville. The whole experience is well worth the 35 - 40 minute drive from Candler (west of Asheville). Fine food, great service and reasonable prices.
