One of a precious few places on OBX where you can eat with an actual ocean view. It is not fancy--on the pier, attached to the bait n tackle, no hard liquor, basic menu. We liked it so much we visited twice this year even though we were staying up in Duck. The famous happy hour is packed--the friendly college kids staffing cannot keep up, and you should expect to wait (order your next beer and round of shrimp almost as soon as youve got the first one in front of you to minimize this). Prices are more than fair for the destination. Happy hour shrimp are small but sweet and fresh, and the fried clams are a winner if you think of them as clam fritters (way to much breading for clam strips). Great beer selection and prices (compared to DC prices, at least). We returned at the end of the week for lunch, and discovered the regular peel and eat shrimp are some of the best weve found on the banks (see photo), and the fish sandwich so fresh and delicious my husband ate two! If you have any non-seafood lovers in your party, the chicken tenders were homemade and a big hit. Thats really what we love about this place--everything we tried seemed to be made fresh, with local ingredients, in house--and not in a trendy/hipster effort to jack up the prices, but because thats just how theyve always done it. Just wish they had a full liquor license--mama wants a fresh fruit daquiri with that view! Also props to the overwhelmed servers for a positive and inclusive attitude. Were Mexican and Italian and have been coming to OBX for 20 years/since childhood, but as our tans darken each year weve found a few of the traditional places have made us feel less than welcome (we are fantastic tippers and very understanding of normal restaurant issues as we both worked in hospitality in our teens and twenties). Well be returning here every year--we received the same friendly welcome and service as the folks seated around us at both visits. Thanks!

Really sweet spot on the pier off a bait n tackle shop with live music (music you want to listen to), good selection of beer on tap and food prices you dont see anywhere.. fishermen at the end of the pier, stopping back up the walkway to visit their friends and wives enjoying a beverage under the veranda roof. The staff are all friendly and beautiful and the waves are crashing right under you and your craft beverage. Fishheads was the only bar we visited willing to show the eastern division NHL playoff game. This place is good luck now. A seriously great concept for a bar and restaurant.

I have been going to this bar and pier for 5 years now I love the atmosphere and I literally book my rental stay as close to pier as I can because of how awesome this place is. We have found viking 5 with sun reality is about as close to pier as you can get being two houses away. Also recommend conch fritters for they are the bomb. Gary the owner I met last trip in and is also very sociable and cares about his customers experience at his pier. Karaoke on tue and friday is great ! Till next year thankyou fishheads bar and grill!!

Good place to chillax, read a book on the good sized pier and, eat a burger while listening to all the happy people. They hit the jackpot in business. Today is memorial day, they are busy just like any other day. Fishermem catching fish and kids swimming in the water. The food is your good fried food. They have breakfast, few options but good worthwile time options. I especally liked the relaxed environment here. It makes it fun for the whole family. And thats not just saying that cheesy line! Lots of familes freinds and whatnot.

Just ate here for the first time based on a locals reccomendation. One of the worst experiences I have had to date. I have worked in the service industry for years and have never received worse service or food. Will not split checks, double charge for refills, every item is extra. Extremely disappointed and will make a point to warn family and friends to avoid place at all costs. Would leave zero stars if possible.

Trying to find parking and indoor seating is almost impossible, but if you can, this place is completely worth it. The food was excellent and the beer selection was good enough. The view and atmosphere are top notch. If you can get past the parking/seating and the odd way they handle checks, I dont see any reason not to give this place a try.

Wow! Great food; the pear lager goes well with both the spicy shrimp (we ordered 80) and the excellent key lime pie. Unsurprisingly, they are SLAMMED right at 4 p (which is when we arrived) so please be patient. The service seemed good compared to a lot of less busy places weve eaten at.

The live music is always fun. Their Bloody Mary was the worst I have ever had so stick to the beer. We like to get the 15 cent shrimp during happy hour, very tasty. Conch fritters were not good, very rubbery. Giving 3 stars because the music, shrimp and beers are good. We will be back!

Fishheads is a local hangout that everyone seems to enjoy. Happy hour is from 4 to 6 in the summer months with Southern Shrimp baskets that will always please. Im not big on bars, but this is a relaxed place with awesome craft beers and good food. I hope to make it back!

Great food, drinks, and especially atmosphere. Always great people to talk to. Come during the shrimp happy hour. Staff is always friendly and helpful. My family and I stay at a nearby house every year and visit the pier and Fish Heads daily, sometimes more than once a day.

This place is great to walk up to after a day of fishing or time on the beach! Dont expect high class and fancy food. This is a local casual spot where the food is served on paper boats and the beer comes in plastic cups its a good time with good drinks and great people!

My favorite spot on the Outer Banks. Fantastic beer selection, probably the best Ive seen on the OBX! And happy hour with the delicious shrimp is perfect! Get there early though because it fills up quickly! Also, this is situated on the fishing pier which is great too!

Good food, great beer selection, much of which is on tap. Its located on Outer Banks fishing pier. Easy walk up from the beach, popular happy hours . A good place for groups/families with seating area inside a covered bar or outside on the deck. Nightly entertainment.

Very friendly group of people with laid back atmosphere and live music. Crab cakes are better than most Ive had in the outer banks. Only downside is you pretty much order everything a la carte (besides the few fried baskets) so the $ adds up quickly.

Beer and wine only! The beer selection was very nice and the servers were top notch. Find your own seating but well worth it. The food was good (primarily sandwiches and pub food). Live music in the evening in a family friendly environment.
