After reading recommendations here, I decided to check this place out. Its in a strange location due to what has always been kind of a run-down building until this point, but as others have said, its been renovated and is absolutely fine. Food and service are both excellent. The staff is friendly and attentive, and the menus are colorful, varied, and easy to understand. The food itself is delicious. I decided to go for the Molcajete - a giant stone bowl filled with chicken, steak, shrimp and vegetables with rice, beans, and tortillas on the side (I ended up carrying half of it home). This is definitely one of the better-kept secrets in Elizabeth City but it doesnt have to be that way; I would encourage any visitor and certainly any resident to have a meal here at least once.

Great food, nice folks. If you think Tres Amigos is the best in town, youve never eaten here. On second thought, keep going there so Ill be able to get a seat at La Tiendita. Im a native Texan and have traveled all over the country seeking good Mexican cuisine that represents some simblance of what I grew up knowing....FINALLY! LA Tiendita does that, the best youll find for a 1000 miles or more, right here in Northeastern NC. Way to go Tina!!!! God Bless you!

Our server was prompt and very friendly. Chips and salsa were fresh. I got the GTO Rojo--loaded with meat and perfectly spiced and seasoned. My husband enjoyed his fajitas. A great little find during our short stay in the area!

I was missing San Diego Mexican food and was told about this by a friend, to my surprise its on par with my favorite spots...in Elizabeth city, nc...thats insane!!! If you like California Mexican food check this spot out!!!

Some of the best Mexican food around! I have never had anything I did not like and I have tried a lot of their dishes. Service is good. Restrooms were clean.
