Solid bar with many beer choices, nice bartenders, and a ton of games. Social is still pretty rough around the edges. Its not a polished bar with a carefully crafted "vibe." Heres an easy example: the large chalkboard over the bar bearing the available beers and cocktails is a mish-mash of poor handwriting, colors, and smudges. Luckily, if you dig a low-key place to hang out, drink good beers, and play bar games, this place works great. They have two coin-operated bar-size pool tables, foosball, and shuffleboard. They have arcade game standards including driving simulators like Need for Speed. You can also get set up on their Wii on a big projector screen or on the N64 on a smaller TV by the bar. There are stacks of board games as well. Dogs are allowed in the bar (it has a concrete floor). Seating is somewhat limited to just bar stools or a couple of booths. I would estimate they had at least 15 beers available on tap, many from local breweries. Thursday nights they have trivia. It was the same person who runs trivia across the street at James Joyce on Tuesdays, but the difficulty of the questions seemed MUCH lower. Sometimes they host private events that mean everyone has to get out of the bar at a certain time. I have also been when there is an event but the bar remains open to the public, like a drag show put on by the Fuqua business school. But generally speaking its not too busy. Overall a reliable bar for a chill night playing pool and games without too much of a crowd.

This place is fantastic. Already my favorite bar on Main street. The owner is really friendly and sweet and the other bartenders have been just as great. The arcade games are an awesome touch. Theyve got pool & darts for free. The trivia nights are great. Still a bit too difficult in my opinion but your ego wont be demolished like if you go to McCabes trivia. Their game night is really well done as well. They always have tons of board games but then they bring in N64 and draw in a good crowd for playing really interactive board games that require more than two people. They also pour their drinks well. Some of the other bars in the area pour the weakest drinks and it barely seems worth it. I love this place and Ill be going to The Social regularly.

A relaxed bar for the nightlife folks in Durham. They feature a solid beer menu. About half the beer menu is local NC breweries. The other half, good beers from all over. The also have plenty of liquors. Social also has a simple, but nice, front patio area. The night I was there a local food truck was parked in front peddling deliciousness. Not only does Social have pool tables, they also have Skee Ball! I love that game. And some other cool video games. Its a chillin spot.

A relaxed arcade bar with a great beer selection. Games include pool, shuffleboard, skee-ball, classic arcade games and some modern consoles. I particularly like trivia on Thursday night at 8:00, usually ending at 9:30. Occasional live music too. For food, you can order delivery from anywhere. I suggest Heavenly Buffalos. Also, Lillys pizza is close enough to walk to, if you dont feel like paying/waiting for delivery.

First, if you like the smell of 5 day old beer, this is the place for you. Very dirty and dumpy. The bar tender was so lame he couldnt grab me a beer while he was on the phone. Update. Went back just to harass this guy. Sat at the bar, was very rude and demanding then I stiffed him. Oh, The smell was worse then ever.

Games, beer, and a good atmosphere make this place a really great time. A wide selection of beer is a nice start, and couple that with a Wii U hooked up to a giant projector and an N64 available to play some of the greatest classic games every made and you have what constitutes an excellent night out.

Its a great little neighborhood bar with great daily specials. And if you head out with a group of friends they have half off all liquors on Mondays and then game night on Wednesdays. With board and card games galore and old gaming systems like super Nintendo and n64 a wii u and others
