My girlfriends and I decided to try out Poplar last night. The ambiance was fantastic. The bartender was warm and welcoming. Thankfully, she was the only saving grace for our experience. We were sat on the patio after a brief wait. We sat there for well over 20 mins and not one server acknowledged us. We had to stop someone and ask for menus. Someone sends out a server who took an order for us and we never saw him again after that. We literally had to get up and go inside to order a drink from the bar because there were NO servers anywhere. Our food comes (gets delivered to the wrong table). They leave two rolls of silverware, no plates - for 5 people. Again, server leaves to get plates and never returns. We had to get up, go inside and ask the wait staff again for basic necessities, like plates and silverware. Since the first gentleman that took our order never returned, we had to stop yet another server and ask to place the remainder of our order. This place was not busy so there was no excuse for the lack attention from the wait staff. The cocktails were great. Food was meh. We wont go back.

Loved poplar so much! The ambience, food, service was great. I really loved the old home that the restaurant is in, and we learned about the history of the house from our server - which was a nice touch. This is a great spot for a nice relaxing date night or a group of people. We enjoyed it very much and will be back soon!

This place is amazing. Top-notch sandwiches, desserts, coffee and all the other cafe items youd expect, plus a full wine/liquor bar AND they serve local craft beer. The cafe itself is a sophisticated and historic home but manages to feel more cool than stuffy. So happy its here in Charlotte!

I was disappointed the last time I came. I asked for a 9 dollar glass of wine, but was charged for the higher priced wine. The pours are not consistent and very frugal. The food is very good but would enjoy much more varieties, such as daily specials.

I love this place. The atmosphere is quaint and charming. Its like being at a friends home for a fun dinner party. I found the food and service to be exceptional. Ive not been served any dish that I did not love. A great place for a date night.

Great local spot. The food is good, and on Fridays they have a live band outside! Definitely take a walk around on the inside, its such a beautiful home-turned-cafe.

Nice place for non-business situations. Dont try to work from there, the music is so loud it is distracting. And, dont even try to have a conference call there.
