Great food and people. Usually less crowded than La Carreta and with a quieter atmosphere. Lunch buffet is a good deal and has plenty of options, just be sure to get there a bit early to get the freshest items. Menu items are reasonably priced as well - large burritos will run you about $7-$9. Our server was kind and patient, even when we had our toddler with us for dinner, and actually gave us a desert on the house for the heck of it. Though its tucked away in the corner of Gerber shopping center, like rarely used china, its definitely worth visiting and revisiting if youre in the mood for good Mexican fare, good people, and a relaxing (except during lunch rushes, anyway) atmosphere. Recommend adding to anyones dining out rotation.

Let me be clear - the food and the service was excellent! The 3 rating is for the horrible margarita. A frozen margarita that was made in a blender and one that I realized too late was half ice and Im not even sure had tequila. I should have sent it back early on and thats on me but on the other side the person who made it was clearly not familiar with bar service and it should have never made it to our table. Go for the food and the salsa bar, stick with the beer if you want alcohol. Ill be back but will follow my own recommendation next time!

Good food, took a minute for them to realize we were waiting to be seated, as they passed right by us to seat the ppl behind us but other than that everything was great! They give you bean dip instead of salsa with chips but thats bc they have an extensive salsa bar!!! Excellente. Typical combo dinners for $7.25 a piece.

we dinner at 5 pm Saturday May 6 TWO of four meals were passable 1 tacos alambre was JUST plain bad. if you like to suck on chorizo and carbon this is the meal FOR you. whatever you do DONT get a mixed drink itsjust mixer overall wouldntrecommend this place to the 101 Dalmatiansmuch less friends and family

This was not the first Mexican place I had been to in the States, but it was the closest to the border. My goodness, it was heavenly. We dont do restaurant Mexican food in the UK (very much), but if we did, I would want the El Charro proprietors to be the ones to open them. Awesome food.

The most unexpectedly incredible Mexican place tucked away in the mountains of North Carolina. Their bean dip is to die for, their portions are massive, and their seasoning is on point. I cannot recommend this place enough if youre in the Asheville area.

Never had a bad meal here. Salsa is perfect, chile rellenos are filled with cheese, only, not meat. Carnitas were excellent (try finding Carnitas on most mexican menus). Chicken tacos are great. Prices are very reasonable. Highly recommended.

The food was absolutely great. Its your general mexican restaurant with burritos, tacos, enchiladas, etc., but its tasty and above average from the various joints Ive visited. Definitely try the tamales and carnitas!

Food was decent but service was very slow. The wrong food was brought out and never had drinks refilled. Waitress never brought check and another guy had to come over and help us. Wont be back.
