I really wanted to like this place, but sadly I was disappointed. I got the sesame ginger salad with crispy tofu. The ginger dressing was so bad, pure oil and hardly any flavor. I really felt like I was eating an olive oil salad, and could feel the greasiness in my mouth far after I was finished eating. The crispy tofu was so bland. No flavor at all just squares of bland fried squishiness. Not only did it not taste very good, it took a long time for them to make (even though I was the only person in the shop) and it was expensive! Almost $11 for a salad and a small cup of ice tea. The only reason Im not giving it one star is because I havent tried a sandwich yet, which is what they are known for. Ill try it one more time and get a sandwich, I really hope its way better than this salad :/. -Justins wife

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. the location is a pity because this sandwich shop should be the epicenter of asheville, north carolina. I devoured the prime rib which was smothered in cheddar cheese, caramelized onions and shoe string cut french fries. Dont be scared of the fries, they are so thin and delicate that they add just the perfect saltiness and substance to the sandwich. And it wasnt too heavy. Just the perfect amount to be satisfied! It was so delicious I went back the very next day and did it all over again. Needless to say, this $7.75 sandwich is worth that and SO much more. To top it all off they have lovely outside picnic tables. The service is quick, so friendly and warm! Dont wait, go support these great guys and make your stomach happy!

Ive been here twice. The bottom line is that their sandwich concepts and execution is a confused mess. The super skinny fries were super salty, awkward to eat and make up the vast majority of what you are paying almost $8 for. The extra sharp cheddar is overwhelming and just too bright (in taste). The sandwich I tried yesterday was the prime rib. I know prime rib is a fatty cut of meat, but what little meat there was, was more fat than meat. No thanks. My wife had the chicken salad sandwich and it had more pico de gallo on it than chicken salad. Not sure why there was pico on it anyway. They seem to think it goes with everything (on a shrimp po-boy!?). Anyhow, the food from this place just didnt cut it for either of us. Wont be back. Grade: D

The sandwiches here are good and filling. The french fries on top are a nice touch but, if you have enjoyed a Primanti Bros sandwich dont expect the same thing. Primanti has the market cornered when it comes to fries on a sandwich. At Asheville Sandwich Co the fries are more of a condiment. I got the fried green tomato sandwich and although it was good, the last bite was very greasy. All the oils from the cheese, fries and tomatoes had pooled there. Perhaps draining some of the grease off before putting the sandwich together would have helped. Aside from that last bite though, the sandwich was good. The service was excellent and you can tell that the owners care about the food they serve. All the ingredients were fresh.

Ive had several sandwiches from this establishment. Two of my favorite were the BBQ pork sandwich and the prime rib. The BBQ at the Ashville Sandwich Company is delicious as you would expect of classic NC style BBQ; however, it really adds a layer of flavor when it blends with the sweet taste of home-made coleslaw. Not quite how momma made it but pretty close! The prime rib was just a notch above the rest. With a generous portion of savory prime rib (I dont know if they marinate it or what, but its taste is superb), pilled high on gf bread, and a side of au jus its hard to beat this beast in size and taste. Ill definitely be going back to this sandwich joint. Next time Ill be trying the pork belly. Cheers!

1 star because the food is edible. -1 star because the food is unbearably salty (on 5 consecutive occasions) lesson learned -1 star because the cashier(s) a very rude. Make you feel like they are doing you a favor rather than you being the "customer". Cant help but feeling Like Im inconviencing them In Some way... -1 star because they dont live up to their blatant exaggeration of "#1 sandwich in WNC"...Im a native I can tell you thats a joke. -1 star because there are some many substitute options for better taste/ price in Asheville. Personal comment: I am not put to give this place a bad rep Im just out to make sure know one is fooled by something to read online. I will never go here again.

My wife and our favorite couple friends traveled over from Nashville for a great Fall Weekend getaway. After a Biltmore tour on Sunday left us famished and in search of a good sandwich before we started home, our Google search led us here and man was it the perfect spot in the trendy, less-touristy (yes, thats a phrase!) West side. We got the Hot Chicken, Prime Rib and Fried Green Tomato Sandwiches between us, and each was as good as the other. Their signature is loading the sandwich with shoe-string fries that are to die for! All that to say, we HIGHLY recommend this great lunch spot!

Let me start off by saying that this place does have excellent sandwiches... when they have the ingredients. the past 3 times I have been they have been out of sausage and prime rib, which means that for my husband and I, they cant make our two favorite sandwiches. We even asked about why they didnt have the ingredients and we were told that their executive chef hadnt had time to go shopping in the past couple of weeks. To me, this is unacceptable service, especially if you want customers to keep coming back. Sadly, I see us eating here far less than we used to.

Giving ASC 2 stars because the food was good. The service was TERRIBLE. It took 40+ minutes to get two sandwiches at lunchtime. There was a rush, but having worked in several restaurants 40 minutes to get any food, no matter how busy, is way too long. Not to mention if the food is fries and a sandwich. Another family in front of us has waited 40+ minutes as well. Other customers who ordered after us got their meals within 10-15 minutes. I wouldnt recommend going here unless you have an hour or more to eat.

Good sammiches, but when Im on lunch break, and call in an order to go, I NEED it to be ready on time. I only get 30 minute lunch breaks... they just took up my entire lunch break... if my boss finds out im in trouble. I cant afford to have this happen again and unfortunately will not return unless this changes UPDATE I thought id give them one last try again .... it took them 30 FUC@%ING MINUTES TO MAKE MY FOOD. THIRTY MINUTES. ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE

When this place first opened we loved it. Awesome sandwiches. Lately though the quality has definitely slipped. Today it was obvious neither kid working wanted to be there and the sandwiches were just bad. Soggy undercooked fries, the produce on the sandwiches was bad, missing ingredients on the sandwiches. If your employees dont care its going to reflect in your product. Its too bad. I hope things improve here.
