i wouldnt even give this place one star. went for ladies night and the bartender in the back was the rudest person ive ever met. my friend wanted water and he told her he doesnt have any water (which is bs.) then said she can get water out of a sketchy jug which mind you the place was packed and the water was unsupervised at all times in the middle of a random table. i then went up to him and explained that she doesnt feel safe drinking out of it and he started yelling and cursing at me calling me names and took my cup that i paid for (which you cant get another) and threw it behind him. before it was even 12 am he was throwing every cup on his counter and yelling at everyone that ladies night was over hes done serving everyone. the only time i would EVER come back would be to punch that guy in the face. ladies and boyfriends never bring your friends/girlfriends to this garbage degrading place.

I work here for two months now for Thursdays and sporadically Saturdays. The high volume of people for Thursdays is college students getting loose and having fun. Djs are never the same. They have new bartenders and security guards for the flow of people and rowdiness. They dont serve food passed 9-9:30 and only drinks until 2am or earlier. Doors close at 2am no if and or buts. It is a very structured place, with a lot going on or slowly getting busy due to finals or other things going on. They do events and gatherings like fundraisers ! Everyone who works there helps each other and makes sure its a safe place for everyone. Just to make sure no one gets hurt or gets into fights. There is Dunkin Donuts a few stores down 24/7, and I think a pizza place so grab some food before or after but not during ! Enjoy everyone, be safe!

Being a local resident, Ive been to the bench several times. The sweet potato fries and burgers are good. On a recent visit, I ordered the teriyaki chicken salad wraps. I knew it wouldnt be the same as Cheesecake Factory and accepted that they wouldnt be as good. What I got was completely disgusting. Picture pulled chicken in lukewarm teriyaki soup in a lettuce bowl... Yeah disgusting! I could not get through one bite. When I told the waiter, not only did he not offer to get me something else but told me that the manager would not take it off the bill. Terrible terrible customer service. Buyer beware. You will pay for whatever you order even if your dog wouldnt eat it.

The owner is a great guy and hes probably the richest physical education teacher in America, Good for him The burgers are great, but the French fries are horrendous and inedible, They have the flavor of oxhide: theyre chewy and theyre not crisp. All fries MUST be freshly handcut and , not previously frozen as they are at the Bench. Want great fries? Go to Five Guys in Port Jefferson Station. When the current management took over, the Bench was clean, good food and service. Over the next couple of years, the service got ridiculously bad. Additionally, it morphed back into the tinny bopper bar filled with underage college students drinking. At this point the bench seems to be headed back to the dump it was prior to the current owner. Sorry to see it.

This place is a staple of Stony Brook, located across from the LIRR Stony Brook train station. Decent food and good beers on tap. They host an annual 5k road race in early May, benefiting a local child health advocacy program organized by doctors at Stony Brook university hospital, and sponsored by other local businesses.

Worked there few years ago.RATS everywhere so bad there foot prints were in food.place smelled of urnine so bad had to burn candles everymorning to kill smell. Owner was clueless still seems same by the reviews makes you wonder where is,suffolk County health department??

The bartenders were absolutely friendly and warm not pushy but kept up with drinks ... I believe one was Raquel along with another girl I was not Very happy with the managment especially the older women extremely rude and unprofessional they need to rethink her

The bar tender on Wednesdays nights is awful. I had to ask to get my drink because she was too busy talking/flirting with the male customers. I never complaint about places, but the service has been bad on Wednesdays nights..
