I went here for the first time based on reviews I read. I had the chicken and dumplings with mac and cheese and yams and peach cobbler for dessert. The chicken and dumplings were a little salty but it was good. I did not like the mac and cheese. It was bland and a little watery. The yams were ok. They were sweet but nothing spectacular. I did not like the peach cobbler. The crust was soggy and the whole dish was watery and lacking in real flavor They also seem a little disorganized when you go in for take out. I didnt have to wait long for my food but other people did. I was disappointed that on a busy Sunday they didnt have any fish or banana pudding. The lady next to me said she waited awhile to order only to be told they ran out of fish which is what she ordered. Not good.. I dont think I will be coming back here

We got there at 1 and the buffet wasnt set up. It was supposed to start at noon. They started at 1:15 and the food was well worth the wait. The buffet was extensive and everything was delicious. They only had 1 dessert choice but I was way to full from the food is even care. The server at the buffet and the waitress were both delightful and attentive. The buffet had Ribs, chicken-(fried,bbq,baked,smothered). Pork chops -( fried and smothered). Meatloaf, Chicken and dumplings, fried fish-(whiting, catfish), brisket, sweet potatoes, sauteed potatoes, mashed potatoes, Cole slaw, potato salad, macaroni salad, collard greens, spinach, rice and peas, corn on cob, macaroni and cheese, cabbage, black eyed peas, string beans and peach cobbler. I would definitely return to this establishment again soon.

Horrible. I ordered from Uber eats and was very unhappy with the service provided. My food arrived over an hour late due to the restaurant inadequacy. I was called and informed that they were out of sweet potatoes after having placed my order more the 30 minutes previous. I asked if I could have a dessert instead and was told no, because it was a dollar extra! Really smh. So I asked for an extra potato salad and she said okay.She called back and said they didnt have any potato salad for either of my original orders. Unbelievable. The worst part about it is the woman on the phone was unapologetic and had an attitude about the situation. Some hospitality and customer service courses wouldnt hurt. To top it off the food was so so. The mac and cheese was wack, watery and a complete waste.

I am always looking to find a good soul food spot in queens and I found one with the southern girls. However I hope they look at these reviews. After they moved to their new location, I went and order the smotherd pork chops, and I recd two large center cut chops that was cooked perfectly and the second time, the same thing, however the 3rd time I went there, I recd dry and over cook boneless chops. I was very disappointed. The success of any restaurant is to deliver the same quality food each and every time. The next time I go there, I will ask before ordering. Friendly service but long wait time for take out service. The other issue is they dont take credit or debit cards

My boyfriend and I were on a day trip and decided to stop in to grab a bite to eat. There was only two other people seated and already had their food. We waited about 40 minutes for our meals and I was not pleased with the meal. I ordered beef short ribs which werent tough but lacked seasoning the Mac and cheese and potato salad gets zero stars HORRIBLE yams were so so. My bf had fish which he seemed to enjoy he ordered grits they looked ok but the black eye peas had absolutely not seasoning in them. The silverware was dirty. If youre not used to good cooking then maybe youd be impressed but I have to say Ive had much better from someones home.

I place my order while I was on the cross island Pkwy, That was at 1:14pm. It is now 2 :38 and my order is still not ready. This place was recommended to me by my sister, mind you I traveled all the way from NJ with my three kids in the car figuring we would get some lunch. I just have to say I am VERY DISAPPOINTED in the way this restaurant conducts business. They have one cashier taking orders giving out buffet bracelets and taking care of pick up orders. Its sad that theycant get this together in here. They definitely have the business coming in but I hope they keep it. Im praying for this place to succeed.

The food is beyond delicious. There is nothing on the menu that isnt as close to Perfection as possible. I often find myself trying new things just because I want to taste something new thats going to be delicious. I find it beautiful to see a business run by intelligent and charismatic black women. This is the place to go when you want some authentic Southern food served by very nice people

The fried chicken is amazing!!!! Its so crispy and crunky and not greasy! And its made to order which is great! The bbq pork ribs was good it was very fatty though. The potato salad was good it has pickles in it. The baked mac and cheese was not good it was really no taste and was dry and had some cheese. The greens were not good either it had no seasoning and tasted bland!

Nope didnt like the meal the staff is nice the chicken isnt seasoned under cooked the sides where under seasoned no seasonings very small portions like im a grown women. But they have a cake to thick for 3$ layer your cakes plz it looks like cornbread with icing. I rather make my own. Yall need to hire some people y do i jave to wait foe 40 minute for a meal

Delicious, I mean truly delicious and flavorful food with excellent, friendly and caring service from.smiling faces. Very long wait for the food but it was WELL worth the wait. Just left there. Got My meal to go. BBQ chicken double the potato salad. I asked for all dark meat. I get home, open the bag, there are two separate containers of potato salad. Score! They didnt put the cold potato salad next to hot BBQ chicken. Loved it! Will definitely be back.

On June 30 my mothers funeral was held in Brookly NY. SOUTHERN GIRLS was recommended by a friend of the family and now I see why. Very professional the food was excellent and the service was great. God Bless your business and may it continue to flourish. Bring business cards ok

Went to Southern Girls on Thursday - great smothered pork chops and great service. Went back today, order was lost, waited a half hours for a rib dinner and got 3 small pieces of rib. Cashier never apologized for the delay. Service was not good today.
