DO NOT EAT HERE AT ALL! Me and my girlfriend came to this place ready for a nice evening and great food and received horrible customer service and rude employees. When we first arrived the environment seemed to be very laid back and a relaxing atmosphere. The hostess did not properly greet us but I didnt mind it because I was starving and ready to eat. After we were seated I went to the restroom only to find out that it was damn near like a walk in freezer how cold it was and it smelled like piled up urine that has never been cleaned in weeks. Again, because I was hungry I did not let it bother me. So when I returned to my table we ordered an appetizer of jerk wings and the waitress left to place the order. About 10 minutes pass by and the waitress comes back to get our entree orders only to tell us that she just placed our appetizer order in and that they are out of 4 different items on the menu. Again, being hungry we didnt think about the lateness of our order being placed so we ordered what food they did have left. So the waitress leaves to go and put our orders in. She comes back to a couple that just sat at a table next to us about 10 minutes after we placed our entree orders. Not only did this couple sitting next to us get their appetizers of jerk wings before us but they also received the last order of curry goat that my girlfriend ordered 10 minutes before they even arrived in the restaurant. So of course at this time I was heated and very angry as well as my girlfriend. So we called over the manager to explain the situation and she showed absolutely no remorse or tried to make the situation better. Instead she said with an attitude "well Im sorry you didnt get your food but what else do you want"? There was literally nothing left to order because they were out of everything on the menu which they did not inform us when we first arrived to the restaurant. This is why blacks have a hard time supporting black businesses because they do not care whatsoever about the customer. They have no customer service, the waitress literally lied about putting in our orders when she never put them in, and the management is poor and lack any kind of leadership skills. We just paid for our wings and left as soon as possible before one of us blew a fuse. I would not recommend this place to anyone!

Island taste receives 3 out of 5 stars for listed reasons. Great management and customer service Cuisine excellent portions excellent Location prime Atmosphere excellent As a business owner understanding location is important along with customer needs. Management should look into remodeling and expanding current location the potential is overwhelming for this location if done correctly. Wait staff could use some formal training on courtesy and conflict resolution that would be extremely helpful and successful. Dress code is very important as well as it limits your clientele and creates a atmosphere for most individuals to relax. Jeans are okay but no rips or sagging sneakers should always be a no pull overs or button ups a must. As a MC club member colors are kool a nice shirt under and jeans and boots should be in play as well as parking for bikes nothing fancy just simple so there not on the sidewalk. Organization for patronage outside keep a single file or ropes. At times crowds look like there watching a fight not going into a club. Overall these are the things too look for on your visit if you want great food this is the place for you, if your not patient not the place for you. Friday nights good mixture of music place for you, want a upscale crowd dressed to impress not for you. Do enjoy your visit as my party did spread the word we have to regenerate the urban dollar and give positive criticism for improvement.

This place has good food I give them that, however the customer service is HORRIBLE!!!! My first experience I went for take out here, when I got there to collect my food the hostess stand is where I get and pay for your food, mind you she is also catering to the people coming in to dine. Then she finally attends to me and get my food but then informs me that they dont have and to go silver ware!!! What kind of restaurant doesnt have plastic forks and spoons when they do takeout!!!! When she said it there was no apologies no nothing just so casual like it was nothing! Horrible!!!! My next experience went do dine in, the same hostess was there and told us there was a 30 min wait, we said fine and put our names down and couldnt stay there and wait as there is no waiting area there if they dont have tables ready so I gave her my # and asked her to call me when the table becomes available whIle I wait in the car......days later Im still waiting for the call. I just went somewhere else, do not go here if u want good customer service its horrible here!!!! $

The Ambiance is nice. All the service from hostess, bar tender, waiters are not pleasant. This was our 2nd visit. The 1st was the same but we wanted to give it a 2nd chance. They wont get a 3rd however. The drinks are weak unless you are ordering something with Wrey and Nephew in it. The food is ok. This is the 2nd Jamaican resturant that has given me an Escovich dish with "breading or batter" on it. I prefer my Escovich the traditional way "fried dry" with nothing on it. I was very specific when ordering it. When it came, it looked like Buffalo shrimp. Not Escovich at all. Ofcourse I sent it back. My husband got the Teriyaki chicken. No complaints on his dish. I also got steamed Bami which she said was served with the steamed fish but she did not specify that its cooked with the steamed fish. Thankfully I like fish because thats how it tasted. Theres another small spot on the corner. Well try it next time we want to have a drink and a bite.

Despite some of the reviews my friends and I decided to give this place a shot over the weekend and we were pleasantly surprised. The ambiance was on point. I did notice a few patrons brought their kids which I dont feel this spot is a place for children. Its more of an adult vibe in my opinion. Good for date nights and girls night out. I would suggest an early dinner. We arrived at 6:30 and stayed for 2 hours on Saturday. The music was nice and not too loud as other reviews have said. Our servers were very nice and knew exactly when to check in on us to see if we needed anything. Rum punch is the drink to get at this place. So good and made well... totally worth the price. The appetizers were delicious although the cod fish fritters had to much dough for my taste. Our main course dishes were on point, Jerk chicken , Curry chicken and crab legs. I would def come back. My advice is to get there early for attentive service.

I came here for my friends wedding reception/dinner party. Poor communication! I must say of all of my restaurant experiences this is by far thee worse. The hostess Beverly did NOT even check up on bride or groom. Amongst other failures tonight, the bride requested "chunks" as a vegetarian option for a family member. The hostess didnt inform the bride that there would be no chunks available until the day of. Its not until we arrived and it was ordered that it was revealed that there was no "chunks" available. We waited two hours for only less than HALF of the orders to be brought to the table. We were a party of 37 people. TERRIBLE customer service, TERRIBLE communication. Not the way to treat anyone on their special day. I will not be coming back to Island Taste. Special occasion or otherwise. 100% fail ...it is now 11:30 pm June 23rd and an order of Rasta pasta just came to the table. And they fighting for tips
