Honestly loved our first trip just two months ago, and brought friends this time. Massively disappointing evening. Server was pleasant, and 5 of 6 of us paid $30 each for the buffet. Expensive, but we were excited to try a variety. Even though we arrived for an early dinner, most of the buffets meats were cold, a sure sign they was NOT freshly cooked, and tasting it was further confirmation. The meats had the tasteless bitterness of reheated fare. While most of the food lends itself to sandwiches, the breads put out for buffet were not only rubbery and clearly not fresh, but not even sliced. We had to ask for a knife and were given a small steak knife. The breads were dry and cold, especially the cornbread, which was tasty, moist and warm last time. Even the mashed potatoes were sour and tasteless. We suspected the buffet was created to camouflage and repurpose unsold food. I ate virtually nothing of my $30 meal, and I tried many options. Corn cobs were overcooked and soggy and mushy, also signaling reheating. The place is lovely and very large, yet on a June Saturday night (and we stayed over 3 hours!) it was nearly empty. Clearly understood why. WIth so many Rhinebeck choices, this one sadly is not worth another trip. We wanted to love it, but just couldnt. If ever a place was crying out for a Gordon Ramsey fix, this is it!

All meat was heavily dry rub coated , pulled pork was dry and unappealing brisket was flavorless and dry. Liquid on plate was runny and tasted of paprika. Bbq sauce from smoky rock ( house made ) was boring and tasted like chopped tomatoes in lightly seasoned liquid. Sausage link was cut lengthwise to appear as if plate was full but on the whole I could not honestly appreciate the effort smoky rock put into the offered foods because of the outcome. I have judged bbq from competitive teams who do barbeque for a living or bragging rights, and so I speak from a perspective of truthful evaluation, and not to disparage a restaurant. Smoky Rock is a lovely Restaurant inside and out, the staff is very nice (family ) I believe and all the elements are present to be a huge success, some of the reviews I read however do not square with what I expected or recieved.

SmokyRock is a fun and young establishment set in a wonderful old building in central Rhinebeck New York. The venue is quiet, the staff are novices, but very friendly and eager to help. Although I arrived close to closing time, they closed the restaurant and allowed me and my wife to finish our meal in peace. And as we walked out the back towards the car park, the large roaster was busy smoking the next slow batch of bbq for the next day...made my mother water again even though my belly was full. Try the dry rub ribs!

The Sunday brunch is well worth it. The variety of meats is excellent: dry ribs, wet ribs, smoked chicken, pulled pork, pulled chicken, beef brisket, hot sausage... not to mention the sides: homemade cornbread, slider rolls, mac n cheese, mashed potatoes, scrambled eggs... and if you have any room there is a table of desserts. The only downside is that the food could have been kept at a higher temperature. Overall, plenty of delicious food to eat at a reasonable price. If I lived nearby I would definitely be back.

Dry ribs were DRY! Tasted like they had been sitting around for a long time. The texture was more like cardboard than juicy meat. The wet brisket ends were smothered in sauce that covered the taste of the meat. The sliced brisket had some smoke flavor but no red ring that should have been present if the meat had been smoked for the length of time as described on the menu.Sides were pedestrian at best. Pleasant setting for dinner in a nice rural town but if you want bbq, look look elsewhere.

It was fine, tbh. It wasnt bad, but it was far from exceptional. The BBQ sauce is very thin and watery, and the prices are a bit high for what you get, but they are completely in line with the prices of other restaurants in the area. If youve ever been to Texas and expect that level and quality, youll be disappointed. If youre basing it on other BBQ places in the Northeast, youll be happy enough.

Excellent find! We went skiing at hunter mountain and our hotel was near this restaurant. They were smoking their meats outside and the smell was great. We got the triple barbeque- half rack wet ribs, dry rub ribs and pulled pork. Loved the dry rub, my kids loved the pulled pork and the wet ribs. the mashed potato side with gravy was great with the meats. great value for $33!

This restaurant is a hidden gem. Low key but has the best BBQ options and choices that you would need. They are clean and have pleasant staff but most of all the food portions are more than adequate and the taste is beyond amazing. Stop by and give this a try. No need to look further. Just wait for real good food. Go in and order anything - you wont regret it.

Great place for a lite bite with lots of outdoor seating as a bonus! Sweet potato fries were a treat (almost like dessert) & barbeque was great. We had the sampler platter which was plenty for two people. They also have a selection on craft beer & not to stray off topic but they have a Tesla Supercharger in the back parking lot !!

I had half rack of wet ribs and they were fantastic, probably the best Ive had. The large side of corn bread consists of six thick slices,I mean Texas toast thick which was also great. My only minor complaint was the draft beer could have been colder. You can bet Ill keep coming back.

Located in the main downtown area of Rhinebeck, they have a large space including outdoor seating in front and back, a takeout/gift room in back, and a full bar area. I thought the $7 weekday lunch specials (tried the pulled pork and brisket sandwiches) were an outstanding value.

The meal came out in a timely fashion, the pulled pork was awesome, incredibly tasty, and soup comes free with every entree. The entrees ranged in price from $14 - $30 which included two sides as well as soup for free. Would recommend to anyone wanting BBQ with a little style.

Good setting and helpful staff but food was only OK. Mac & Cheese was rigatoni and cheese sauce. Pulled chicken was excellent but pork was a little bland. Brisket looked to be reheat, Mississippi g any of the smoke rings expected. Dry ribs were good. Hit and miss.

Had the Sunday buffet so I tried the ribs, brisket and pulled pork. Worst BBQ I have ever had; there was absolutely no flavor to any of them and the pulled pork was like mush. From reading the other reviews maybe its the buffet that should be avoided.

Great food. Staff and cook were spot on. Gf and I will be returning for our future date nights and bringing friends. Food and portions are so good you can easily get the meat sweets and fall into a food coma.. Lol
