Sushi good. my experience fresh fish. yummy avo. my complaint: DISHONEST PROMOTIONS. DUMB STAFF. I had been around when Kumo opened many years ago as i live across the street. Always happy with the food which is not the least expensive but not the most expensive either. About 5 years ago, i get a postcard in the mail for 10% off. i go there often and one day I go in for a takeout lunch $11.50 and realize i forgot the postcard. for $1.50 the cashier refuses to give me the discount...so i got annoyed and didnt go back there for 4-5 years. My grown son tells me he LOVES their sushi, so after all these years i eat there again and do a take out a month or so ago. (I eat sushi somewhere at LEAST one time every week). SO now, January 2016, i decide to pick up sushi and i have about 15 restaurants to choose from...i get a Kumo menu and I see 20% off your first online order...so i decide to order online. it reads bring any coupons etc to restaurant . so, i go to pick up order and GUESS WHAT!!!!! Again they dont want to honor the offer...some literally unintelligible gibberish about points and new systems and cant do it! OMG! Its only a $50 order! $10 for me or them...is it worth pissing off a customer???? I had finally decided to go back after 5 YEARS and I get this same BS?! I spoke to the manager who frankly just wanted me away from the register so he gave me the discount after 3 minutes of arguing. I asked WHEN i could come see the owner and was told "I dont know when the owner will be in" Cmon... you REALLY want to have ILL WILL from a local person? Thats it for KUMO AGAIN! So go here if u want decent sushi in a crowded noisy restaurant and... If you want to be treated poorly by staff, come here too. I am a marketing person I helped them with signage, advertising suggestions, donation guideline suggestions, competitive info when they first opened... but unfortunately, never told them that the customer deserves to be treated nicely. i read a few other reviews and see a common thread of rudeness and stupidity when it comes to the customer so they saying "the yellowtail (fish) STINKS from the head" is probably true. They wont see me and i will encourage my friends not to go too (my friend just had a dinner there for 40 people! not again). shame on you Kumo. If you advertise a discount, YOU BETTER HONOR IT!

I’ve been going to Komo Sushi since they opened and always liked to food. Lately, we have noticed a very bad crowd in there drinking heavily, getting loud and dropping F bombs everywhere. The last time I was there with my family they were making all kinds of noise. I politely asked them to tone it down, this is when the father and son assaulted me. They cornered me, told me they were going to kill me and my family, also poke out my wife’s eyes all in front of my daughter. We asked the people at counter to call the police and they said no we are taking orders. We were told by the owner that these animals fight with other patrons all the time but since they spend a lot of money so it’s alright. Of course the Police came and watched the video and since I ducked the punch they would not make an arrest. The owners of Komo Sushi knowingly and willfully put revenues above the safety of anyone else in the restaurant. I suggest that no body that reads this review ever go to Kumo Sushi, they will be closed soon

We had rolls at this location yesterday (Sunday) evening. The atmosphere and the service were nice. However my wife awoke in the middle of the night with stomach cramps and vomiting. It was easy to see the the problem was the undigested pieces of Tuna. It was obviously bad (spoiled) fish. We have been eating at a variety of Sushi restaurants on Long Island for the last 18 years and have never had such an experience at any other restaurant. I called the restaurant a short time ago and explained what happened. They were unsympathetic and bordering on rude. They suggested that it was something she ate somewhere else. This, of course, is not true. She had oatmeal for breakfast and and omelet she fixed herself for lunch. We ate at Kumo at 8:30 PM, if she was going to be sick from something she ate elsewhere it would have occurred prior to us going to Kumo. The obvious conclusion is that they served her spoiled fish.

Our third and last visit to Kumo. The first 2 were just ok last night was awful. The rolls were messy and completely tasteless mush. The service was rude and rushed. You are handed a menu and within seconds the waitress is asking for your order - the place wasnt busy. When ordering a bottle of Saki the waitress opened the bottle without showing it to us. It turned out to be the wrong bottle of Saki. She scolded us and brought back the correct bottle said something in Japanese to the Sushi chef and was very nasty. They are always reaching and grabbing plates from between you that you cant even have a conversation. Even if you are not finished with your plate they ask if you are "finished"....um no! The rolls had absolutely NO taste completely flavorless and very sloppy and falling apart. We Will Never Return.

Richard Schroeder: You are incorrect. Acute gastroenteritis can incubate anywhere from a few hours to a few days. So although you may THINK bad food should result in immediate symptoms, thats simply not the case, which is why its extremely hard to prove any establishment is the culprit unless a large number of people all experience the same thing. Given that no one else was sick from that restaurant, your wife was probably inoculated elsewhere, and given your (falsely) accusatory demeanor, their curt reaction was justified. Ask your physician; hell tell you the same thing. As for the restaurant: Excellent sushi!

Im very surprised at any negative reviews. Kumo is one of the best sushi places on Long Island. I dont work there or anything like that, just a happy customer. They have the most creative rolls for sure. Try the Pizza Sandwich (yes a ridiculous name)! Its has a very stylish decor and is a pretty cool place. The ONLY downside of Kumo is that it tends to get pretty packed and loud, so I dont recommend it for a romantic dinner if its during any peak times.

We visiited Kumo for the 1st time on a Wed. Aug. 8, 2012. The impressive menu was filled with items of all sorts, neatly arranged in categories. The menu almost had too many offerings. We were there with 2 other couples. The attentive waitress was gracious in offering suggestions for one person who only wanted " cooked" items. Everyone was delighted with their selections and the quick service. The sake was well priced. We plan to return.

Food is excellent and I order from here all the time. There is one super annoying thing. When ordering online, they do not accept credit cards on website. You have to call and give the cc number over the phone and they can never understand what Im saying and get the numbers wrong all the time! JUST ACCEPT CREDIT CARDS ONLINE like everywhere else!!!!
