Nothing says "cool date night" like heading over to the Plaza Hotel in search of Macauley Culkin and the rest of the Home Alone 2 cast! Kidding aside, we went downstairs, snaked through the Plaza Food Hall and eventually landed in the TODD ENGLISH Food Hall. The layout here is really interesting - Designed by Jeffrey Beers (who also designed the Plaza Food Hall), Todd Englishs Food Hall features open kitchens - eight in total - scattered around the restaurant, each surrounded by white marble dining bars. A wine bar, flatbread station, raw bar, pasta station, grill and more....Its like someone took your college cafeteria and dipped the whole thing in steroids. Assuming there are seats available, you can sit around any of the kitchens/stations, or opt for one of a few centrally-located high-top communal tables; no matter where you sit, the full menu is available. Servers, chefs, and managers are all armed with radios and earpieces and all were moving in sweet symphony running to the various kitchens, bringing plates to tables, busing old dishes, and providing new plates and silverware (we got four new sets in total). We started off our restaurant week orders with the lobster hush puppies (four per order) and the shortrib tacos (two per order), splitting everything. The hush puppies had a nice lobster kick and the tartar sauce smeared on the plate beneath gave it some much appreciated "juice." The shortrib tacos were generously stuffed, to the point that some of the filling spilled out, but thats nothing a quick fork cant fix! The accompanying clumpy and flavorful cotija cheese is miles ahead of that grated crap that other Mexican restaurants use for decoration (and nothing else really). The first of our two entrees to come out was the slider sampler (chicken parm, beef, and prime rib), and we thoroughly enjoyed all three, as well as the generous portion of parmesan fries that accompanied. Following was the ricotta gnocchi - although it appeared small, the plate was packed to the brim with juicy braised lamb, dried tomatoes, and BACON FOAM! (what?!) The gnocchi was cooked perfectly and this whole plate was definitely the best thing we ate during our visit! Rounding out our restaurant week selections, we opted for one of each of the two available desserts - the flourless chocolate cake, and the flan. Both plates arrived well-decorated and well-thought out, and we finished every last bite! All in all, they do many things really really well. Ill definitely be back to snack on some regular menu items, in particular their burgers and flatbreads. Enjoy!

Crowded might be the first word that comes to mind. But note that there are different areas to the Food Hall. Strong suggestion to make a reservation where you can sit, be waited upon, and relax with room to spare. We were fortunate enough to be in NYC on a fabulous weekend and decided to explore Central Park that day. Rather than having to seek a lunch spot, we decided to book a table at Todd English Food Hall in the Plaza. Once we got through the crowd entering, we were taken away from the crowd to a table for two that was in a great room of tables that were spaced to allow for comfort and privacy. Service was prompt and friendly, without being rushed. The menu is full of significant options for just about every taste, including burgers, Italian, Asian, and much more. My wife opted for an appetizer as a meal and I chose the Todd Hall Burger, after having been overseas for 17 days! Both meals were excellent as was the beer recommended by our server. Service throughout the meal continued to be attentive but relaxed. As you might expect, the bill arrived and my first reaction was "Expensive!", but when you stop to consider you are in The Plaza Hotel in the midst of NYC mixed with the quality of food and service, I can live with the result. Recommend as a lunch spot. Not sure I would choose for dinner as you could get much more atmosphere elsewhere for the price you would pay.

Ive been to new York 8 times a year maybe even more in the last 20 something years . Even stayed at the plaza hotel for a long weekend and never knew this place was here the staff never told us about it. I cant believe Ive walked by there a hundred times finally decided to go in this Plaza food Hall and it is absolutely beautiful they have all kinds of food just too many even mention but look at all the pictures they have the names of those little restaurants and Little bistros, little store kiosks just everyehere down there. everyone should you go its just gorgeous down there the prices arent too bad .check out the pictures. They time you go to new York you find something new.

Aside from the senseless tourists (whom I love and NYC would not be what it is without em!) that crowd here constantly, this plaza is a real discovery. Prices are on the higher side but relative to the rest of Manhattan, can even be considered nominal. My favorite is the Vive le Crepe vendor, where you can get a fantastic crepe fairly quickly, and then walk around with it. Just try not to bump into anyone with all the dark chocolate.. Great place for starting or finishing a walk through Central Park. Sometimes, the hotel gets snooty when you want to enter through the front doors. Hopefully youre a guest already so can snoot right back at em! "the Nerve!"

We placed a walk-up order at the Cheese & Charcuterie Station and enjoyed our "pick 3 & 3". The cheeses and meats were all cut fresh in front of us, and the flavors were perfect. The board was served with fresh green and black olive tapenades, as well as a powerful whole fig concoction. The environment was a little chaotic, but the basic tray was phenomenal. If youre not drinking alcohol in the food hall, try the GUS (Grown up soda) in the refrigerated drinks section. They are delicious, not-too-sweet, and delightfully refreshing!

Da visitare assolutamente come esperienza gastronomica. Diversi ristorantini con piatti di ogni tipo, ma la cucina non è in loco poiché gli shops devono portare i pasti già pronti nella hall. Interessante!!

Lots of fabulous choices here. Nothing in particular necessarily stands out, but its a universal please all. Ive been here a few times, once with a large party that ordered a ton of dishes so Ive gotten to taste the offerings across the board. I think its a great place to come with a large party, and I like the vibe of the sitting around the various food stations where your food is being prepared. It gets pretty noisy here.

The Plaza Food Hall

We love the plaza food hall! Always make sure to stop in after a visit to Central Park. Multiple restaurant owners were even kind enough to help me orchestrate a surprise birthday celebration for my friends 18th the last time we visited, pointing me to where I could find cake, candles, and matches all without leaving the food court! Its a magical and lesser known destination all tourists should visit atleast once.

This place can get really crowded so finding a seat at lunch/dinner hour might be difficult. Its got a fantastic feel/atmosphere to it though with plenty of variety in vendors offering items such as oysters to specialty teas, to Mille-crepe cake (I would highly recommend this in particular from Lady M). I also had a sandwich from No 7 sub - it was ok, but kind of small for what you are paying (even for NYC).
