A nice sit down restaurant, not as showy and glamorous as their other two Manhattan locations, and I actually prefer it that way. (Were in NYC, NOT Vegas). The food and drinks are a bit pricey but extravagant enough to not complain once you are presented them on your table, although, the veggie quesadillas are something youd get at a French restaurant where you expect a big sloppy tortilla and cheese mess and instead get 3 small tortillas filled with cheese and mushroom. Also not as open as their other locations, so once the dinner crowd comes in, it gets a bit filled up and you may find yourself waiting to be able to step out. Still not overbearing, but if thats a problem to you, keep that in mind. Great place to take a date or just sit down and play catch up with a friend you havent seen in a while as you take down some Mexican delights. Be weary if you are a vegetarian, though, as you will find yourself sticking more to the appetizers list seeing as how the only entres dish that isnt meat is a bland stuffed pepper with steamed spinach and raisins and a small wheel of goat cheese.

Came here on a weeknight. My uncle had made reservations beforehand and we were promptly seated. The decor was quite nice, our seats were snug and comfortable, and service was faultless. Now to the food. They have interesting margaritas on their menu and they make them quite well. Theres also a table side guacamole on offer-and it was just the way I like it-chunky. The guy making it was kind enough to accommodate my preference for extra lime juice-I like it tangy! The rest of the food was quite delicious too. Good mexican is not impossible to find in Manhattan, so its the small things- like the spice on the guacamole or the friendly service that help me pick out my favorites, like this one.

Great Service and Food! I came here with a large group on a weekday evening. We made a reservation in advanced and were seated right away. Our orders came out in a timely manner, our glasses were kept full the whole night and every dish was cooked as ordered. There was one dish that a friend of mine found a little dry that night and the staff did not hesitate to replace it with something new at no charge. Our waiter was knowledgeable about all menu items and was patient when explaining them to us. All the staff members we interacted with were delightful. The atmosphere is welcoming and warm. I would recommend this place; especially for groups because they truly cater to you here!

Its wasnt my 1st time here and it wont be my last. The staff serves with a smile. They are attentive friendly and know how to do serve. They have amazing guacamole which is made at your table served with freshly made tortillas chips. I dined with my son and was in the mood for short ribs and authentic Mexican food. Rosa Mexicano knows how to fill my belly. Its located 1st Avenue in Manhattan, close to my sons apartment. Its expensive but worth it. They also have specials like ICE CREAM week. They also have FreeWiFi, but I dont like eating and texting. Join their website for Complimentary Birthday Certificate & celebrate your special day.

Although there were several open tables visible from the front door when we stopped in for lunch, the hostess requested that we wait a few minutes. When I went to the bar to get my wife a drink, I could see several more open tables and booths, so I returned to the hostess and requested that we be seated. The manager was there and replied that wed have to wait a few more minutes, so we left. There are so many really nice restaurants in the neighborhood and there are excellent Mexican alternatives within a mile or two so there is no reason to patronize this place.

the west side restaurant is a little more upscale feeling -- offer to sit downstairs to reduce the wait. the food is still great, the margaritas are still a rip-off. really love the tacos de carne asada.the east side restaurant is cozy (read cramped) and the decor more mexican-ish. the goat special is really excellent though it is reminiscent of pot roast. the guac and fresh tortillas are habit forming (read expensive).but youve gotta love it!

Had dinner on a Sunday night with three girlfriends. We got the famous guacamole, which was delectable and nice strong margaritas. Our entrees were great, but the whole experience was outstanding due to our waiter Jay. He was the best server Ive had in a long time! He let us take our time, made suggestions and even made a special drink for my friend. Jay was the perfect combination of knowledge, attentiveness, and respect. Love Jay!

Ate here once. Loved it! Came back within 2 weeks and it was awful. They had changed their menu and it tasted bland. Prices had been hiked. Service was awful and slow-waiters and food-while the restaurant adjusted to the new menu?? I ordered fish taco the first time. Full of flavor. Ordered the same fish taco the second time and it was bland and fishy-tasted like boiled fish. Couldnt justify the hefty bill at the end. :(

We loved the old Rosa Mexicano with the traditional dishes, but since this Chef Waxman took over, it is not the same. The chicken with the chocolate mole is gone and a few other dishes as well. The menu has been shortened and the dishes he put on the menu are more like going to a regular restaurant but with some mexican spices added. I heard this also from some other people that have gone th

while somewhat pricey for mexican food, this place still outshines many of its well-known neighbors. a wide choice of margaritas and other tequila-based drinks sets diners up for a claasy/casual dining experience. the favorite guacamole made tableside never seems to be enough, and though delicious one hesitates to double the order due to its rather high price. check out the cool miniature divers!

Worst Service in NYC! We were made to wait 15 mins to get a menu, were served food that started to go cold before we were brought plates, had to wait 10 mins every time we asked for a drink, and 10 full minutes for a cheque which the waiter snatched from me. This is the first time in my life I have refused to tip. There are 1000 restaurants in New York... Go to one of the other 999.

Hands down, my favorite Mexican restaurant. I go once a month and have tried a variety of items off of their menu. My personal favorites are the Chamorro (Crispy Pork Shank) and the Alambre a la Mexicana (Mixed Grill Brochette). The drinks are really well mixed and if youre not in the mood for an alcoholic beverage, I highly recommend their unsweetened passion fruit iced tea.

My uncles favorite restaurant and I have tasted why. The guacamole is really as good as people say. Every time Ive eaten here the food has been fresh and delicious. The service has been consistent as well. There when you need them, gone when you dont. Its definitely more expensive than I like to spend when dining out but I think Ill continue to make an exception when Im in NYC.

Rosa is a gem. The place has a large lunch and dinner menu but the brunch list gets my appetite running. The trekkers omelette with chicken, shallots served with rice and sweet chili sauce is to die for. The omelet is so light and fluffy you’d think it will fly up in the air. I also love going for margaritas in the evening with friends. Great food, drinks and service.
