ALL PLUS+ EXCEPT FOR ONE LITTLE ISSUE FOR THE OWNERS! Invest in some acoustical ceiling tiles. I could barely hear the server speak as the place was packed with a far too loud group of cackling women who were there for some sort of girly celebration. The noise was bounding off the ceiling like amplifier and it was annoying beyond description. I needed ear plugs for dinner and I had to use sign language a few times with my dinner partner. Yea, yea, I know it looks cool a smooth ceiling and all but seriously there are plenty of people like myself not wishing to hear every bodys conversation in ++decible amplification. It would be a deal breaker for me when it comes to good food with unbearable noise and no conversation, and good food and the possibility of having a nice conversation with my peeps. I would never take a group there if I could not enjoy hearing everyone praise the incredibly good food. So YES, the food was amazing and the sangria was intoxicating, but not a great place for a quiet romantic dinner when crowded. For under $500 Pio, you could make your money back in no time. Enjoy!

First of all it was pretty cold outside and Im not sure the restaurant was heated at all, we have been freezin in there... Since we came for the chicken we shared a matador combo (chicken + rice and beans + salad + fries and tostones). As others wrote, the rotisserie chicken is pretty good, juicy, flavorful etc. The rest of the combo wasnt a big deal: I liked the avocado and tomato salad, but the rice tasted like burnt rice, the beans looked as they came straight out of a can, there was fried sausage on to of the fries (?!) and the tostones were really nothing to get exited about. So actually, I would go back, but Id just have the chicken and the avocado salad, and I would take them out and eat them at my place, which at least is heated... The service was very kind though, and besides the inside temperatures I think the whole atmosfere isnt bad either.

Please, please, please OPEN UP your own store! If you do, I will only go to your store for VEGAN DESSERTS. I love you Sweet and Sara, you have made all my VEGAN dreams come true minus one (OPEN A STORE PLEASE)! I have encountered Sweet & Sara all over the city and really wish they would OPEN a STORE! Hey, have I convinced you enough to open a store? They were at this years 2012 Vegetarian Food Festival and I didnt move from their stand for sometime. I really like their marshmallow treats. They have all kinds, including toasted coconut, chocolate, peanut butter, etc. They also make brown rice krispy treats. All their desserts are so so good, and the best of all, it is all VEGAN. I love you Sweet & Sara. Please just open up a store already. You have a huge fan base already!

Pio Pio Upper West Side was ok. its definitely overrated since the food is definitely not the best. The lunch special for $9.95 is what brought me to this place years ago. They stopped promoting it, and hand you the regular menu during lunch hours, so if youre unaware of the specials youll order full price. Recently, the service had been terrible. Long waits during the afternoon, waiters seem tired or angry all the time, no smiles, zero attention. I usually order the 1/4 chicken lunch special with Yuca frita, it used to be accompanied by a lettuce, tomatoes, avocados salad. They recently changed the portion to a much smaller one thats sloppily prepared and NO AVOCADOS! Pio pio its a shame, will not be returning.

Pio Pio is home to delicious Peruvian roasted chicken. I had a hard time finding chicken I liked as much when I was in Peru! Although there are a few around New York, this is my favorite, because the quality of the chicken is always really high. The roasted chicken is a great deal - the least expensive thing on the menu. Get it with a side of plantains (both maduros and tostones are available) and salchipapa (a mix of french fries and hot dogs that manages to be way better than either would be on its own). It can sometimes be a little loud inside, but its always a loud of the lively variety, not the deafening kind.

Service was ok, food was actually pretty good but this place has no air conditioning...it wasnt that it was broken it just doesnt exist! Must have been 85-90 degrees outside and 95 inside. I literally sweat through my dress shirt..I had sweat coming from places I didnt know you could sweat from. Have to say I have never been so miserable eating in 20 yrs...this is 2010 guys..and it wasnt just me..everyone at our table was profusely sweating and the poor servers too..have to say never again unless you like eating your food in a sauna...what a shame

Great spot for Peruvian food and sangria. The ceviche mixto is phenomenal - perfectly balanced - and the pio pio chicken with that magical green sauce is just amazing. The lomo saltado is also really delicious and super flavorful. Its also a gigantic portion. The sangria is quite sweet and not that strong, which some people will like and others wont. The restaurant gets quite busy and can be very loud, so not the most intimate spot, but it is dimly lit. It would be fun for a group of friends or a casual date.

Wish there were more Pio Pio locations. Chicken is great. Rice & beans good. Fried yuca excellent. Maduras, youre mileage may vary. Sometimes spot-on, other days a miss. Salad is good. Everything is pretty much a delivery mechanism for their Aji Amarillo (spicy green) sauce, which is highly addictive, and of course delicious. Tip: Best for at least 4 people because everything is a la carte, and if you like a little taste of everything its too expensive split amongst just two people.

This pio pio location is much bigger than the location on the upper east side on 1st ave. I usually order the food as takeout. I love the chicken and usually order the whole chicken, maduros, and saffron rice with red beans. This is enough to feed four people for about $20. This combination is better than the combo platter they suggest and cheaper. I also love the green spicy sauce for dipping the chicken meat. Pio is one of my go to places. Highly recommended.

Très bon resto peruvien avec dexcellents ceviches. Des maduros ( bananes douces cuites et caramélisées ). Empanadas et tamales en entrée. Accompagné de piscos et margaritas. Une très bonne soirée

Ive tried 2 other Pio Pio locations and unfortunately I did not enjoy the food in this one. I ordered ceviche mixto and it was not worth $18. My bf and I ordered the same thing and we both looked at each other shocked at how little food it was. Ive ordered ceviche in their location in the Bronx and we had a good size meal. We were not full after eating it and had to ask for an order of salchipapas.

I like the modern atmosphere but I had problem reading the menu because of the dim lights. I did not like the rotisserie chicken, it didnt have the Peruvian flavor and the size of the chicken was very small for the price. The fried potato taste like it was re fried but the salad was very good. The server was friendly. Another disappointment was the restrooms, they were dirty.
