I wish I could write a separate review just for the service, presentation and the ambiance. Then I could easily write a 5 star review. But you come to a restaurant to drink and eat, not sight-see. My drink order was the Singapore Sling. Its a good thing I arrived during Happy Hour because I needed the deal. These are "craft" cocktails priced at speakeasy prices, but sadly, without the speakeasy punch. The Happy Hour deal was Buy 2, Get 2 and I drank all 4 myself before I felt slightly buzzed. But I was very pleased with the presentation. The metal straws keep your drink a lovely cold temperature. I started with the Chili Cheese Toast. Cheesy with a good chili kick. My entree was the Railway Chicken Curry. I judge all chicken curries on the ones the girls would make when I worked in a Girls Group Home in the Bronx. So, so good for girls coming from broken homes. Maybe its not fair for me to judge in on a Caribbean curry, because this one was lacking. There just wasnt any spice and not much curry flavor. It came with plenty of rice and naan. Once again with the lovely presentation... the cashew atop the rice... nice. The service was stellar. The bar area was gorgeous with Bollywood movies playing on the TV. The waitresses looked cute in their Indian inspired gear. I left full but the food was just not enough to get me to return.

Ive been to a lot of Italian delis in Queens and this small yet quaint gem might be the best in the borough has to offer. The placed conjured memories of my child hood staying in East Harlem with my Italian grandmother. Its an ode to the old school pork shops in Little Italy. The smell of pecorino romano cheese swallows your senses one you step in the door. The service by this family-run spot is impeccable and instantly made you feel welcomed, offering samples of some the stores personally cured Italian cold cuts. The pasta in meat sauce was decadent and obscenely large for one person and at a reasonably low price. The meats are marinated and cut on daily basis. But this is the place for the ultimate Italian sub: Rosino Panino. It combines the velvetly thin slices of prosciutto cotto with pecorino romano cheese and tomatoes. The sandwich melted in my mouth. On your next visit, sink your teeth into The King of New York: slices of London Broil, bacon, melted sharp provolone with olives and sauteed onions. Savor this Italian version of the Philly Cheesesteak. If anything, come in and soak in the place. Walk around and look at the Italian products, the pictures of Robert DeNiro on the wall (he and his crew frequent the place while he filmed A Bronx Tale). Youd keep coming back for more.

By far, the cutest and classiest niche place Ive been to. This place is all about detail - detail, detail, and detail. The decor is thought out to every painstaking bit - right from the monkey statue on the tree outside with a little glass, to the cricket balls, and Anglo-Indian, engraved cutlery, to the cricket balls, and the elephant head coat-hooks. And this is just the beginning of it. The cocktails are very well-thought-out and uniquely crafted, and delicious. The service is very sincere and friendly. The food takes it up one notch. Especially being an Indian, I have to say this is like no other place Ive been to - its Indian, yet not authentically Indian. And I mean that in the most complimentary way. Neither is it among the many places that tries to tailor Indian cuisine to the American palate, leaving a very hesitant and finicky flavor-palette. The food at Drunken Munkey is beautiful crafted based on the British colonial era, easy-to-eat, presented beautifully, and delicious. Clearly, a place to go gaga over!

Very fun and comfortable environment, but food not as good as hoped. A big selection of cocktails, though they are pricey, which is true of everything on the menu. The paani puri appetizer seems to be wildly popular here, but I found it to be perhaps the single most unpleasant thing I have ever eaten. Imagine trying to eat a fortune cookie and drink a shot glass and a half of pickle juice simultaneously. The tiger prawns were huge and quite good. The pork vindaloo entree was okay but not as flavorful or spicy as youd expect. Naan is buttery and good, as is their yoghurt sauce. Its a fun place with I think no better food than most other Indian spots and maybe 25% more expensive than others (Mughlai, which is quite nearby on 2nd Ave., for example).

The setting is cozy, but this restaurants small size makes the seating arrangements too clustered. I dined with a party of three and we had a very small table for three of us to eat. Despite these sparse accommodations, the meal was delicious. I had the chicken biryani, which was akin to a biryani "pot pie of sorts. More specifically, the a naan was draped over the biryani, tapping in the flavors. It was a spicy dish, but I upped the heat by adding spoonfuls of mirchi. I tempered the heat with a glass of the house version of an old fashioned, which I should have ordered neat. I may return if I am in the area.

Drunken Monkey is one of my favorite spots in the city. Its like the best of both worlds: great food and great cocktails. For cocktails I recommend the bramble, hands down. The army and navy and pimps no 1 are also solid. For food, everything Ive ordered here is delicious. The chili cheese toast is like an open faced spicy grilled cheese or sauce-less spicy pizza? Cant describe it any other way, but its awesome! The paneer tikkas and the stuffed simla mirch (stuffed pepper) are other excellent appetizer options. For entree, I love the butter paneer tikka masala. It comes with amazing rice and bread.

Nothing great about their food. Ordered their specialty dish, the Railway Chicken Curry -- it was one of the most flavorless curry Ive ever head. The chicken was also poorly marinated, making it really tasteless, and extremely dry. At $19, while the plate looks a little full with 1 roti, small portion of rice, and the chicken serving, ordering these independently might make the dish much cheaper. Service was good. Warm and welcoming staff. Will not recommend based on my experience.

Been here many times over the past year. The seating outside is very nice in good weather, it doesnt get very loud inside, and the pricing is adequate. The bar is also fairly well done in terms of spacing between customers and how much room you have for drinks. They even gave me and my girlfriend free and generously large mimosas at the end. My one gripe is the tables inside are too close together, so standing up is always a "Oh, sorry, excuse me" as you flumber out of your chair.

Great food, great service, the only reason Im not giving it 5 stars is that its a homage to the British East India company, which was an oppressive and racist organization. Its the equivalent of having a US slave plantation restaurant in the UK. That said the food is really good and they have great cocktails. If recommend: chili cheese toast, Pani Puri, crispy okra, malabar shrimp curry, lamb meatballs.

Such a great expierence. The staff were very attentive and friendly. The space was small enough to make it a personalized setting. And then there was the food. Ah.Maze.Ing. The fried okra was fablulous. Niether overly fried nor soggy. I wouldve been happy with this as my meal the entire evening. The Chicken Birary was amazing. The flavors were full. Great setting for a date or a group of friends.
