Would not go back. We had dinner with friends here. The service was good the food not so good.My buddy and I had escargot for apps. They were inedible , no flavor and over cooked. We did not say anything, but the waitress noticed we did not eat it . She asked about it and took it away. Although we did not ask they took it off the bill which was nice. Salad was good. I had rack of lamb, med rare (my favorite dish, I have it wherever I go.), my wife had the duck and our friends had a fish dish and lamb shank. The duck was mushy ,the fish was mushy and my rack of lamb flavorless although it was cooked properly. The lamb shank was good. We did have a few bites of our meals but left them unfinished except for the lamb shank. We all ate that and left hungry. I realize this may have been just a bad night but we wont be back.

We have travelled all over the world and never tire of the wonderful food, service and ambience at 88 Charles St. Cafe. We have NEVER found a restaurant where we know the service and food will always be excellent except at this establishment. You are always greeted as if you were being welcomed into Mario, the owners, home. The staff is caring and Pete, the bartender, is the personification of what a bartender should be. We have been customers for over 20 years and it has never disappointed us. We recommend it to everyone!!!!

As I reflect on the food, ambiance, service I had this weekend I feel compelled to write a public review. Really quality place. Live piano. White table service. Reasonable price. Excellent wide variety of Italian food. Great desert selection. An owner who does it for the right reasons. A great gem for Orange County. Seafood platter, spinach manicotti (home made), chicken francaise, meatballs. Free salad with dinner. Table side ceasar salad formulation. Thank you Mario and your wonderful team.

Our anniversary is 12/24/07. We have since went to Marios to celebrate every year. The atmosphere is beautifully decorated for Christmas and have found Mario as well as the staff to be very inviting and attentive. The food is very good, however the drinks are a little overpriced. Even still, we enjoy going there to celebrate! We always make reservations and have NEVER had to wait, we give them our reservation time and are seated right away.

My wife and I were passing through town on Route 17K and asked a local couple to recommend a good restaurant. Were glad they said Charles Street Cafe. Weve been there several times since and were going this afternoon. Beautiful place with top-notch food. The fish/veal/chicken Francese is to die for.

Went for Easter Dinner. The staff was fantastic, the food was good I gave it a 4 star because the lack of flavor my dish had. My filet was lacking flavor and the portions were small for the price. I guess I expected a different experience for a holiday dinner. I would go back.
