Came here for my 5 year wedding anniversary, evening was off to a wonderful start however after our appetizers my husband and I stepped out to vape. We notified our server before leaving, but came back to a cleared, reset table. A normal mistake, lack of communication between staff. What was frustrating was we sat for 10 minutes at our table before anyone realized what had happened. When we were finally noticed it was accompanied by laughter between busser, dishwasher and food runner. Our waitress was understandably angry, however didnt do much to rectify the situation. The music was shut off, our drinks remade but served in soapy glasses, and she sent in for our meals. Our salads were forgotten about, and we sat in silence, except for the comments between bussers about how they didnt care she was angry and tapping on their smartphones. We asked for our salads, after our food was served, our waitress never returned and we were stared down by the bussers as if waiting for us to be finished so they could clean and get ready to leave as we were the only couple left. When my husband mentioned how upset he was to our waitress he was dismissed with Ill make it up to you next time! We left our giftcard. We wont be coming back. The only redeeming quality was our waitress then refused her tip when she finally realized we were upset. Food was great, but seems like they are confident in their reputation, but too comfortable.

The food is fine. But I had such a disagreeable experience there on one occasion that I chose not to go back--even though the owner offered to make it right with me. I was there with my family and we were in the middle of our meal when this wealthy-looking 40ish couple came in and occupied a table nearby. They proceeded to have a loud public argument, including the most vile, vulgar language you can imagine. Now, Ill admit that I should have done something personally to ask them either to get control of themselves or to leave, but I have done this in the past only to have the violence of both people turned on me. Anyway, I considered it to be the responsibility of the restaurant manager. It was Fawlty Towers laughable when, in the midst of this outrage, our waiter asked us if we wanted any dessert. We did not. Later, I complained to the manager. He did offer us free dessert if we would return. That was decent of him, but, no, we never did. Not that we wont someday, but not for the last eighteen years.

I recently dined at la vera cucina and unfortunately it was very disappointing. I hadnt visited for over a year and could not believe the decline in service. No one was at the entrance to seat us. For a place that expensive, this was a sign of the decline in service. The food was very slow to come out and the waiter kept saying they were very busy, but they were at 50%. We were a party of four and it took over two hours to dine. This was a Thursday night. Yet i could barely get someones attention to refill my glass. I dont know whats happened, but they need to bring it back to the ways of when i first visited. Especially at their cost to dine. This was more of a pizza place service with a teenager waiting tables. Unacceptable for what they charge. Over two hundred dollars and well over an hour and a forty minutes for our meals. I suspect that they have downsized on staff to gain more profit or they will be closing soon. Why else such a decline? Read my first review and you will understand how it used to be.

My only complaint is that I didnt go to this restaurant years ago. Id wanted to try it forever but kept forgetting even though the location is so cnvenient. Finally went last night and it was by far the best dining experience ive had in YEARS. The staff is so friendly that I felt like Id been one of their most loyal customers ever. The service is impeccable. We accidentally spilled TWO full glasses of wine (our first so it was a simple mistake, not tipsy LOL) and they had a great sense of humor about it, changed the tablecloth immediately and brought us two new full glasses at no extra charge. But most importantly, the food was AMAZING. It was beautifully prepared, served piping hot, and was so delicious that its only 12 hours later and I want to go back right now. HIGHLY RECOMMEND this restaurant. I will definitely earn the status of loyal customer over the next few months.

Division of Environmental Health Bureau of Sanitary Control FOOD POISONING: La Vera Cucina 43 Hillside Terrace Monroe, NY 10950-2545 12:30pm 4/23/10 Consumer Complaint Report: My mother ate the chicken, mozzarella and spinach entry at 12:30pm today. At 5pm she felt very ill and looked it, she then began vomiting the entire meal up for the last 3 hours. She ate no other meal or snack in between because she is on a diet. She currently has no other sickness. I mentioned this to my friend 20 minutes ago and she was astounded stating, "Shut up!!! Thats where she ate??! You dont know how many people have said theyve been sick from eating there....!". In addition she claimed it was the chicken every time. (Actual letter sent to Orange County Department of Health)

La Vera Cucina is fast becoming our kitchen away from home. We eat there at least twice a month and sometimes once a week. The food is excellent at an affordable price. My husband has had difficulty finding a good steak restaurant in the area until he started ordering the sizzler here. And he loves the Zuppa de Pesce. I am a pasta girl and have enjoyed them all. I asked a couple times about whole wheat pasta and was pleased to find they are now offering it. The Brie or Clam appetizers are delicious as is the hot antipasto. The wine list is well rounded. The owners and staff have always been welcoming, attentive and pleasant so much so that we feel like we are visiting family. And the bartender makes fabulous martinis! We thoroughly enjoy our evenings here.

In the past few years, La Vera went downhill big time. It all started a few Christmas ago. We went for Christmas Eve as this was out go-to at that point and we hadnt been for awhile. There wasnt one person who was satisfied with their dish. We chalked it up to the holiday. Awhile later when we visited again, we noticed little things that had changed. The pasta wasnt al dente anymore. Dishes werent seasoned quite as well as before. Service became a bit more patronizing. This continued to the point that my familys last few visits have been downright problematic, including sending dishes back. La Vera as a result is no longer on the table for dinner options. Im not sure what happened here.

We went here for a dating anniversary years ago. Then, we showed up for Valentines Day. Later, we got engaged here. Finally, we had our wedding reception at La Vera Cucina last week.(40 people). I am STILL getting phone calls about how GOOD the FOOD was. We didnt have a wedding planner, and neither of us had been part of a wedding-party before, so we really had no clue what we were doing! We had about three laid-back meetings with Phyllis and everything was how we wanted it. The wait staff and she did everything they could to make our guests comfortable. The bar staff are personable and quick. Food is always outstanding, and the prices are very reasonable for what you get!!
