I would have given -5 star if there was such a thing. This was by far the worst food and worst service we have ever had. Even before we stepped in the waiter (one of the family member I suppose) gave a very racist look. I should have turned right back, but we have been travelling and kids were hungry so decided to try. We sat forever , nobody came to give water or take order and the place was not even crowded. Finally we asked a waiter to take order. The female taking the order was grumpy. We ordered a lot of food for 3 families. Ordered tandoori chicken for kids. They brought a whole giant chicken. We requested the waiter to cut it into pieces for the kids and he rudely said he cant do it. My husband asked him to get it cut anyways or get us the chef knife. He took the chicken inside and cut it in half. Put the chicken on the table and rudely said he cant cut more than this. The food was bad , really bad. The roti and nan were overdosed with baking soda. We hardly ate 30% of the food we ordered. When we asked to get the check, the guy started picking up the plate while the kids were still eating. Next day five of us got food poisoning including the kids.

The service is lousy (and creepy, Ill get to that in a second), I ordered two dishes and both were incorrect, and when I got my leftovers "to go," I had about 7-8 pieces of meat left on my plate. Much to my chagrin, when I got home, I opened up the container and there were two pieces of meat. This explains the chewiness and flavorless nature of the meal, because I believe that they recycle food frequently to give to other customers. Great for the environment, not so great for people who dont enjoy diarrhea. It was also overpriced ($30 for two people to get two tiny containers of meat, some rice, and a little nan) and the waiter asked some creepy comments about how much I gave blood. Maybe they dont understand how humans like to eat since all they do is suck blood. Ive had many experiences with Indian food and this was by far the worst experience Ive ever had. It was like dog food in a watery curry sauce. Another funny thing that I noted is that they framed a review they got in the Times Herald Record and put it in the front lobby. The review is for 3 stars, which says to me that theyre proud of mediocrity. Stay away.

Fantastic experience! After searching for years for a quality Indian restaurant in Ulster County, I have found the best one by far. Being a native of India, I have had plenty of experience with Indian cuisine and it is safe to say that New Paltz Indian Restaurant offered the best I have ever had. This, coupled with cheap prices and excellent service, make the restaurant and its food a "must- have". I also greatly recommend Tuesday buffet nights.

The buffet was just okay. The service left alot to be desired. They ran out of Food and did not refill the trays it was on 630 . There were many customers in the place at this point and I was upset with the food selection. Besides the best Poor food choices the staff seemed upset and were not friendly. we had a large group and I had to Chase waiter to ask for water. Have been here previously but wont go back. Manager acted hostile.

I like this indian restaurant. It has great food and service. The samosas were butter and flaky, which was a pleasant surpise because in other restaurants the samosas were very salty and dry. I would definately recommend the chichen tikka masal because it was very flavorful and had just the right level of spiciness. This is a great place if you want good indian food.

We went for Valentines day. Brought our own wine. Just finished eating, and we were finishing up our glass of wine. The (I think owner) older woman that works there comes up to us and says are you finished? We need the table. We were not given a check yet, there were other tables still empty. And only 1 couple just walked in to be seated.#terriblecustomerservice

Ive been here dozens of times. The food is always delicious, and the variety means you can try dozens of new things, or find a go-to favorite and you wont be disappointed! Takeaway service is always reliable and pretty quick! Tuesday nights feature a fixed price vegetarian buffet. Note: This place is bring your own beer/wine!

Great food.... Portions are decent but rice plate which is complimentary is small for two people.... Also hard to handle as its so small the rice tends to fall out over edges while youre trying to serve yourself... Although you may be able to ask for more rice.... The small plate we received to share was pretty small.

The food is amazing. Ive come in for lunch on a few occasions, the service and the food were very good. Ive also come in on nights they do the buffet. The food was hot & I never had to wait longer than a few minutes for them to restock something that had run out. Ive invited friends here and they to loved it.

We came in late and ordered from the buffet. The food quality was still great and the staff was helpful and friendly to meet any of our requests. They made sure we were full before they broke down the buffet area. I didnt even get a chance to look at the menu but you cant go wrong with the buffet.

One star for a clean restroom and friendly staff. The food is ridiculously terrible. Try the mango lassi and youll get to experience a chemical flavored concoction that will leave your tongue a nice yellow for the next couple of hours. Everything that I ordered was sub-standard. Avoid this place.

Authentic Indian food owned by an Indian family! This place always has fantastic food and drink, and the most delicious chai tea Ive ever had. Tuesday nights are buffet, definitely a great choice to bring friends and family. (many dishes are not spicy, as well! White people friendly

Some of the best Indian cuisine I have ever had the pleasure of eating. The nan was delicious, the poori was spectacular, and the chiken tikka masala was out of this world. The service was also sublime. The best Indian food in the 845 area.

Stopped for take out here twice and each time the food was delicious. we loved the coconut soup which made a nice counterpoint to the spicier items. It can be hard to find Good indian cuisine and this place definately qualifies.

I live in New Paltz and eat at New Paltz Indian all the time. I do take out regularly too. The food is consistently great! Plus, I always have leftovers - so I figure the price of the food is really the price for two meals.

Every time I stop in, the food is cooked to perfection and the service is beyond friendly. The atmosphere is unassuming and the prices are not bad. Best garlic naan and lamb dishes Ive had at an Indian restaurant by far.
