I dont usually complain about restaurants, especially in a public forum but in this case I feel it is necessary. The service in this establishment is laughable. I have heard from several people that this is usually the case, but if you are willing to look past it, the food is worth it. I did not find this to be the case. We were a party of 6 that all ordered different entrees and a variety of appetizers. The food was nothing special. I had the gnocchi which was incredibly bland and dry. All of our meals (including a burger and a steak) were barely room temperature. Another member of our party had the wild mushroom bowl and it was over sauced to an insane degree. I come from a family of chefs and service industry professionals and we were completely blown away by the subpar quality of the food. As I mentioned, the service was just horrendous. There were two waiters and one of them also was the "bartender". It took over 30 minutes to receive 1 beer and 2 margaritas. Apparently there was a problem with the tap which is no ones fault but the handling of that situation was inexcusable. Half a beer sat on the counter for 20 minutes and then was filled up and served to my father. To give you an idea of how long this drink ordeal took, we ordered and received all of our appetizers before the drinks were served. Our waiter was completely unapologetic. Later when we received our entrees we placed a secondary drink order. At this point, we are the only table in the restaurant. My table ordered 1 cocktail and 2 beers. By the time the waiter/bartender decided to prepare our drink order, everyone was done with their food. My brother and father politely declined their beer as it was ordered about 15-20 minutes prior and meant to be enjoyed with their now completed meal. I think it was safe to say that everyone at the table expected the waiter to apologize and comp the beers.. but no. Instead, he looked annoyed and went back to the bar with the beers where he and the bartender proceeded to DRINK THE BEERS IN FRONT OF US. When I say laughable service, I mean it. My entire party broke out into laughter because we could not believe what was going on. Lucky for the waiter we were a party of 6 and were automatically charged a 20% gratuity based on the number of patrons. I think it is a shame because this place does have potential but as is, it is a complete disaster.

This site would not let me give less than one star, because after tonight I would have given it minus stars. The night started with with a group of friends, celebrating a big birthday. Supporting our local businesses. We had heard good things about "DISH" so this is where we planned the party. The atmosphere when we first got there was great, but that did not last long. We had problems with the service, not sure if this person was new, but couldnt answer many questions and directed us to continue to read the menu. So we order a couple appetizers after much pressure. All us ladies were drinking either beer or house wine. We order our meal and about six of us order the burger. One burger just didnt taste right and was told to the staff who removed the burger, and came back with the same burger saying "its fine, there is nothing wrong with the burger". The other one was asked to be well, it was not well. Sent back. Came back cooked on the out side still not cooked in the middle, and smelt very bad. Like bad meat. When it was taken away I was never asked " is there something wrong with the burger". He Just took it and questioned me about dessert, which I declined. The other girls who got the burgers didnt care for them much either. Not one person finished theirs. (Hoping we dont get food poisoning.) The bill comes and the bill was astronomical. We had said both burgers should not have been on the bill. He didnt know what to tell us. We asked for a manager they refused to send anyone. The waiter angry just came back and said take off the gratuities. Which is not fair for him. Another friend in our group left the table to pay the bill, where she was call some very appalling, unprofessional names. (FB) And told not to come back. This was done in front of the people at the bar and other restaurant goers.. It was the worst night ever, where for all purposes it should have been a fun ,great night.. This place DOES NOT deserve any stars! The food was horrible !!! The service was worse!! And the owners who cursed out our party, is disgusting!! And not a professional ! I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND "DISH" TO any and ALL MY FRIENDS AND FAMILIES TO EAT AT THE ESTABLISHMENT. DISH= not worth it$$ And way to pricy Better off going to Wendys

I spend a lot of time traveling and finding wonderful and new places to eat is always one of the most exciting things. Dish brings the new and exciting tastes found in the best big city bistros to the picturesque hamlet of Mahopac. When visiting small towns Im always worried by the limited food options but through word of mouth heard about Dish and decided to give it a shot. My worries were removed the second I walked through the door. Everything was welcoming about the restaurant from the amazing beer and wine selection to the mouth watering aromas coming from their kitchen. The place tucked back from one of the main roads passing through Mahopac has a wonderful ambiance and a friendly and helpful staff that really make you feel at home and wont hesitate to give you recommendations on their favourite meals when you are having problems deciding between the many appealing meals and appetizers. Ive been to dish a few times now through different seasons and times of the week and they always have new and interesting specials and an ever changing menu whos one underlying theme is the freshest ingredients and a desire to try new, interesting, and amazing flavour combinations. I highly recommend dish to anyone living in, passing through, or going remotely near Mahopac NY Cheers!

I went to Dish recently to see a friend play an acoustic set (a nice addition to their intimate atmosphere), & of course intended to order dinner as I watched her set. I pleasantly surprised when an outing to see a friend perform ended up being an excellent dining experience! The dinner menu isnt extensive but includes options perfect for each diner - I loved the Walnut Pear salad: market greens, tossed in a balsamic vinaigrette that was a perfect juxtaposition of flavor with the deliciously sweet candied walnuts & poached pear (soaked in a red wine). It came with goat cheese toast on the side, and I dont usually like goat cheese but their choice was a mild cheese that was perfect on the toasted baguette slices. My fiance had the Mediterranean Platter: delicious fresh cucumber, roasted peppers, olives, & pita served with some of the best hummus & babaganoush either of us have ever tasted! I plan on returning to this place regularly!

Amazing place! Im a frequent city-goer, but mostly enjoy the smaller, neighborhood eaterys that offer superb food with a comfortable atmoshphere. What is so incredible about Dish is that it offers this and more without having to trek to the city. In fact, its my favorite restaurant above even the best finds in NYC! Even the most discriminating palate will be delighted with the menu choices, but there are many fresh, homestyle items too. You can tell that the ingredients are fresh and the dishes offer a fantastic fusion of tastes (elements of Jean-Georges but no pretense and without the hefty pricetag)...as for the desserts?...try the fresh crepes...incredible. The ambiance and service is wonderful...very comfortable and welcoming...not too large and loud. Hands down, Dish is the place to dine for anyone who enjoys quality cuisine with a down home feel.
