The Second Landing a functional place. Its a cafe/gift shop tucked into the Tompkins County Airport. A small, paper sign next to the cash register is the only mention of the name. Its the sort of place you eat at because youre there and youre hungry. Youre flying into or out of the airport or you work there. The menu is typical American food - burgers, fries, hot dogs, deli sandwiches. Simple things you can make with a small deep fryer or grill. Theres a cooler of drinks and some fountain sodas. They also have some bakery sweets that I didnt have a chance to try. I bought the Special - a buffalo chicken sub that came with some fries and a sixteen ounce fountain soda. The fries were your typical bog standard french fries. The buffalo chicken sub was a deep fried breaded chicken filet with lettuce and American cheese and what was probably Franks Red Hot. $7.55 for your standard "extra value meal" style combo, and it was okay but nothing to write home about. The nicest thing about the place was the view. The round cafeteria style tables sit in a well-windowed area that looks out on the runway. I didnt spend a lot of time there, but I was able to see a plane land and another take off while I was eating my meal. That was nice.

2nd Landing is a wonderful cafe with great food and service. The company I work for usually orders catering through 2nd Landing and we always get positive feedback on the presentation and quality. I would definitely recommend trying it out the next time youre at the Ithaca Airport.

Wonderful Gem of Ithaca. Flying in and out of Ithaca for 10+ years, I missed some great food. Now that I know this cafe is here, I visit at least once a week for bfast or lunch.
