I am somewhere between 3 and 3-1/2 stars on this one - but we cant do half stars so I am "rounding down" to 3. The diner itself isnt "bad" (it didnt appear dirty or anything) but it was exceptionally... "Tacky"? While some may appreciate the decorations I felt they were just a little over the top. Too much for me. Thats just my opinion. Everyone has one. :) So for me I think its 2 stars for the "ambiance". The service was ... Im actually not sure what it was. The waiter was a bit of a "character". Its possible that he was trying hard (maybe too hard) to be funny, but our gang didnt really appreciate the sarcastic looks and remarks. (He did get the order mostly right.) So lets go 3 stars on the service. The food was ... Good. Not great, just good. I had an egg white omelette with spinach and Swiss cheese. Ive had better. Ive had worse. The home fries were good. The rye toast was toasted nicely - not burnt. Others at the table had banana pancakes, a Belgian waffle with strawberries, a chicken Caesar salad, matzoh ball soup. Everything appeared to be good. I heard no complaints (but no raves either). So I think 4 stars for the food. So the average is about 3 - though I think the food at a restaurant is more important than the decor (again, just an opinion). Anyway, its a fine place for a quick sandwich, a bowl of soup, some pancakes, or a burger with fries.

This place is a huge ripoff. First of all, yes i know diners are a little pricey, however when charged $30 for one drink chicken tenders and an appetizer is horrendous! I orderd mozzerella sticks, $9.95. I was expecting huge or even plenty of them, no. The served 7 little ones. I orderdd the chicken fingers deluxe, and got 3 miseley pieces of over fried chicken, a handful of fries, and what appeared to be 2 half cooked onion rings. My sister had the same, abd her boyfriend ordered the lasagna, which came out COLD. so instead of paying for good food, we paid for some waiter to bring us crap, along side free cookies and lolipops. If they think that conoensates for their crappy service, they need a reality check. I suggest the california diner, ive always had pleasent experiences there. Waste of $30 at the Oconee!

I know this diner is usually good and fast but today was the exception. Seated within a reasonable amount of time, got coffee and ordered. Patrons that came in at least 10 minutes after us received their food at least 5 minutes before us (we were party of 2 ordering eggs). Waitress apologized multiple times so she knew how long it was. Home fries were ordered well done, they were barely cooked and then finding a hair in my omelet really topped off my visit. At least 2 other tables seated after got their check and left before we got ours with the same waitress. I gave three stars because previously food and service was good, otherwise I would have given 2.

I love this place! I try to go as often as I can. I pass alot of Diners between Holtsville and Islip - but this place is so worth the trip. I have never had an issue with the food (I get their Veggie Burger). The people are friendly and its got an over the top atmosphere. The best part - is that if you want a particular waiter ( Jimmy is the best) or waitress, it isnt a problem. Once you go to the O-Co-Nee, youll never go anywhere else. Happy New Year everyone!!

Ive been going here for over 40 years. :) Theyre awesome for Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner or Later Night Cravings their food is awesome, service is friendly & prompt. My personal favorites...Their Belgium Waffles with Fresh Strawberries & their awesome breakfast sausage, then I love their Bacon cheese burger, and then desserts like Banana Cream or Lemon Meringue Pie, Chocolate Cake and Cheese Cake are a great ending if you can fit it after eating a meal.

We eat breakfast there quite often. It is a wonderful family oriented restaurant. The owners: Spiro, Gus and Peter make you feel quite at home. The waiters and waitresses are friendly, competent and efficient. Its always a pleasure to dine there at any time of day. Baked goods are baked on the premises (they are exquisite) and the decorations around the restaurant are outstanding! Just a great place to be. Go and enjoy!

Its a typical diner. They go crazy on decorations for every holiday. It is a local favorite for their ordinary diner like breakfast food. However, just not a relaxing experience with the News 12 on their numerous TVs, over the top decorations and general loud atmosphere. The general temperature fluctuates, I guess when you have people sitting near a kitchen it can be difficult to keep the temp constant.

I love this place it is amazing and very welcoming. Everybody is extremely nice and willing to help! Great atmosphere calm and quiet. The food is delicious! The owners are very pro law enforcement which is a very huge plus. Awesome to see our boys in blue have a place to come and eat safely and comfortably! Nothing but great things to say about this place definitely worth a visit with the whole family :) !

Honestly was not good at all. Overrated completely. People were nice, but doesnt make up for low quality food with zero presentation. Neither do the decorations. The restaurant was dirty too, silverware, tables, seats, etc. Hate to write a bad review but we gave them 2 chances and it needed to be said. Hopefully management resolves these issues before they lose any more customers. See ya later!

I had a poor experience with a waiter at this diner. An older man (shorter, stubby, and bald) he was extremely rude and honestly think he was a drug addict. Very poor service and will not be going back. The staff seems to be of the lower end variety and not something I like to be around. They need to hire better staff.

Staff is mature and accommodating. Very much a "local", neighborhood place where it seems like everyone knows each other. Im from a couple towns over, but you feel comfortable immediately. I was waiting for a guest for about 20 minutes and they were very helpful. Extremely pleasant experience.

The quintessential diner...$35 for two omelettes, challah french toast, side orders of toast and bacon and two drinks. Seems expensive but with portions that take up the whole table, its worth every penny. This is the place you go to feel at home in town. Its the peoples place.

The Club-O is a favorite for EMS, fire and police on Long Island - especially during grave yard shift. The food is awesome greasy diner fare and the staff is very friendly. It is always festively decorated per the season which adds fun flare. I highly recommend the Oconee!

Ordered a burger and French onion soup. Didnt like either. Told waitress I didnt like soup, barely ate any of it. Nothing was done. Didnt even take it off the bill or offer anything else. And all the decorations at certain holidays is just restarted.
