We have stopped at the blue diner a few other times, and the food was fair. We r from upstate ny where we have many diners. Usually when we stop at the blue diner, the first thing u notice when u get out of the car is the music in the parking lot coming from the diner. Today as I was walking to the diner, I mention, there is no music, which is strand. ( I should have taken that as an omen and gotten back in the car. The waitress what doing her best to do a good job, but the food just didnt make it. The food arrived cold, home fries, tasteless and not cooked enough, pieces of raw potatoe, eggs were not cooked enough, sent them back and they returned to the table still runny, toast was cold, they used margarine in stead of butter and it was a clump because the toast was not hot enough to melt it. The sausage came after the meal, which we didnt eat, the waitress changed us half price. No refill on coffee. Sorry but the diner was not clean especially the bathroom. As we were leaving we mention to the hostess? That the food was unsatisfactory, and she said that they never have any complaints. Now I understand why the parking lot wasnt as jammed as usual. If they have a new cook, or new management, they need to read some of these reviews. Nt overflowing as in the past

The food was the only thing good about it, really. I came with about 18 of my theatre friends to eat after a show, and were greeted with a very rude staff. When we walked in, a man asked how many people we had and was very dismissive when we told him the number. He said they did not have big enough tables to wear us, but the whole middle section was open. He very grudgingly pushed a few tables together, but only when we persisted. Next, we say down and looked at the menus, decided what to eat and waited. We talked and laughed but were not disruptive in the least, but were informed that we werent going to get served unless we say down and we quiet. (As a side note, we had all been waiting for a good 15 minutes) It was incredibly rude for her to say, and upon saying that she disappeared for another 10 minutes. We were also told that the waitress had walked by another table grumbling about teenagers never tipping. When we finally got the food, it was good but our waitress refused to acknowledge our requests for more cups/napkins/ect. Overall, I would only go for the food. The staff is rude and condescending, and generally not nice to teens/kids. Not a great family place.

Our experience began with a delightful, young yet mature, and thoughtful waitress who was attentive to our every need. Great suggestions and our food came out just as we had anticipated. Packed up several desserts for our trip (and so glad we did -- snow caused us to spend an extra night on the road). The greatest acknowledge I would like to make was for their PROMPT and in perfect condition return of my forgotten cell phone -- my phone is my life -- especially when I was on the road. Due the snow storm going back for it was not an option.....the staff of the Blue Colony Diner -- returned my phone ---I gave them the information on Wednesday and it was in my mailbox Friday or Saturday. Thank you so very much....when I called to thank -- they acted like it was no big deal.....to me it was. Thank you to the person who made it happen and the great communication among staff of when it was mailed, who was doing it, and it was safe. It is this kind of experience that will ensure that this Pennsylvania traveler will look for the Newtown exit and the Blue Colony Diner.

Diner has been going downhill with each time i go there. Waited forever, changed my seat, then got a bad attitude from waitress that acted as if she was doing me a favor even serving me. Baked goods are horrible. It is a large selection and makes for a good show but thats about it. Canolis are half filled and dont even think of asking questions about what is inside those you cannot see. You will he rediculed for not just accepting whatever it is without question. Diner is run more like a prison and diners are the inmates. Do yourself a favor, this diner is expensive, pass it by and save your money on food and service you will surely regret. It takes alot to get me to do something like this. I usually make excuses for thise that are rude since maybe the are having a bad day but i cannot make any excuses for managements rudeness and horrible service. Life is too short! Rude and bad service is unacceptable....especially mixed with terrible food that will cost you a pretty penny.

Stopped here on the way back from a bus trip to Atlantic City. The menu was too much to even bother reading the whole thing. Service was really slow(I ordered a bowl of soup and a grilled cheese) the soup was tepid. Actually, we were just about to walk out when the food finally came. A friend ordered spaghetti and meatballs. The spaghetti was WAY overcooked, literally mash. The "sauce" was utterly tasteless, and the meatballs had no taste as well. I may be a little biased since I am a full blooded authentic Italian cook. In the time they took, I could have prepared that dish using FRESH ingredients and the pasta cooked to perfection. No doubt in my mind theirs was pre cooked and frozen. Looking at other patrons dishes, I saw no fresh veggies, herbs, or garnish. I also believe the fries and onion rings are from a bag out of a freezer. There is no excuse for not cooking FRESH.

I stopped here a couple of times on trips through connecticut. Its around a tankfull from my house. The service I received was terrible each time. I saw other tables getting their food before I had my order taken. This is likely because I was alone, so my bill, and tip would be smaller than the other tables with large parties. I always get the burger deluxe, and compared to other diners this place is not very good. The food was barely edible, and the waitress never checked back to see if I was happy. When she finally did come back, I was in dire need of a refill on my soda to wash down the crappy burger. It took forever to arrive, and amazingly I was charged for my refill. Since this diner is located next to the most expensive gas station in the universe, I see no reason to return. In fact I have made it a point to fill up in other states just to avoid this place.

This is a Newtown gem. I can always rely on getting a reliably delicious offering from their expansive menu. There is reasonable fare available for those ending the night with light pockets to choices available to satisfy any foodee with a voracious appetite. I agree the service is spotty but the place is open 24 hours a day and the shifts are long for some of the servers. I like the fact George employes such a diverse staff. I connect in conversation on many levels with patrons and servers. The place is clean and bright. The food is hearty and the portions are usually huge. Many of my Friday night excursions end here with friends. That should says it all. Blue Colony is a welcoming rest stop, meet-up and family gathering spot when everyone else has since closed their door for the night or week. They have done this consistantly, 43 years in a row.
