Service: When we got in, the first waiter was polite and nice to us. The second waiter sat us down and proceeded to the "screenplay" he recited the specials, and then we asked for a couple of minutes. About 30 seconds later, he showed up again and asked us if we were ready. at that point i felt annoyed and ordered what i thought was easy to cook. My friend ordered the special fish. Food; The appetizer arrived to the table withing 2 minutes, and off course it was RAW, fried calamari RAW, without any sauce. when we asked to re-fried more, he came back and said, I MADE A NEW ONE FOR YOU. sauce was not there so we asked for it. he said they have a special sauce, but i was wondering why he never brought it over. the pasta was definitely nothing special, blend and not a big portion, when i asked for some cheese, he left and came back with a $8 side of Parmigian chunks. I didnt say anything but i felt again cheated. Wine list was very left centered, with mostly wines form one distributor, and few here and there worth to take a look. My wine was not kept in a temperature storage, and was a bit off. Prices of food and wine are way too expensive for what they offer, plates of pasta $19, and main coursed above $30 makes me think that not even in Manhattan you would charge this $ for a service without tablecloth, and over-used linty kitchen towels as napkins. When we asked for the check, i asked the server to add a 20% service, since i didnt want to under-tip him, but instead he added a 25%, obviously mathematics was not his forte. I didnt argue and left. Ambiance; Light too bright, and music was somehow Latino, nice but not set for. In conclusion, between the rushed service, the overpriced food, and the diners lighting, i decided to give them a 2 stars due to the fact that the 2 waiter was really nice and polite.

Unfortunately, we never had the opportunity to taste the food, but if the behavior—and display of childish petulance and a complete absence of any professional hospitality skills, put on by the manager is any indication--it was good that we left when we did. After checking—and rechecking—the offers for the Hudson Valley Restaurant week (HVRW) website, we called the restaurant and made reservations for Saturday night and arrived early. Shortly after sitting down, we immediately noticed two things—there was no HVRW menu (or insert) and the table next to us asked the waiter to see the manager because, they too made reservations on the assumption that the HVRW menu would be available—as it stated on the HVRW website. They started by asking the manager why the HVRW menu wasn’t being offered, despite all information to the contrary. After just a couple of reasonable, rational questions, the manager totally lost it, displaying the behavior of a moody six-year-old, rather than the steward of a restaurant. From the outset, he never showed any hint of professionalism, hospitality or humility. He said: we should have asked (when we called) if the HVRW menu was being offered when we made reservations; we should have intuitively known that “Mima never serves HVRW on Saturday’s (Kreskin-like qualities left me long ago); and, like a child stomping his feet when he doesn’t get his way, stated: “I’m not serving you the HVRW menu…I’m not!!) Before he even finished that sentence, he ran away from both tables without uttering another word. Clearly, he was auditioning for a slot on the next Gordon Ramsey reality series. There are way too many restaurants that offer great food, great service, and understand what hospitality means--we will visit those restaurants.

One of the better Italian restaurant experiences Ive had -- and that includes a lot of ZAGATs Top 25s in many U.S. and international cities. Mima is inventive and inspirational, with very fresh and well-prepared food. The staff is friendly and responsive and you really have to work hard to ding your wallet, which is truly refreshing. My only ding, if its really a ding, is that the space is somewhat cramped and it is loud. An afternoon lunch is superb. A weekend dinner can hurt your ears. However, the food is truly special.

We got there a little after 7:30 on a Saturday night with no reservation and got a table instantly. We got the rigatoni with lamb Bolognese and the pasta the special. Both were good, although the pasta special was a little salty, although maybe that was due to the sausage. The rigatoni was cooked perfectly. For dessert we had Tiramisu which was good and not watery or too sweet!

Never had worse food. Tried the Carbonara, a normally strong flavoured dish and it had 0 flavour. As for the "vinoteca" bit of its name, the first bottle of "red" wine looked like it had been watered down and the flavour matched. The second was a bit better but these are wines that Id expect from a dinner on the interstate, not here.

Mima is a favorite of mine in Irvington. Its a great spot for a couples night out or for a small group of friends. The food is fantastic and we have always found the service to be exceptional.

I ordered a special and it was god awful. I couldnt eat it - over cooked pasta with fish and chunks of garlic. Ill never go back. To be fair, the cheese course was ok.

Young inexperienced rude wait staff+bland highly overpriced food= Mima. The reservationist is a rude person, maybe owner? Go to Buon Gusto where EVERYTHING is better

Very slow service, food was decent but way over priced. $19 for a salad the size of a side salad with paper thin chicken. Acoustics were horrible, very very loud.
