First of all, the food and service would be considered average to poor anywhere else; but come on folks. This is where we are training the next generation of culinary experts, for crying out loud. The school is backed by some of the best in the industry: Marriott and Hilton. You would honestly think that you are in for a real treat. Dont waste your time at this place. Seriously. Beautiful campus. Wonderful approach across a courtyard from the parking garage. Terrific "grand" entry point followed by an institutional grand hallway to the entrance....the magnificent and acclaimed AMERICAN BOUNTY. Then it was ALL down hill from there. Terrible greeting at the door (non-plus), wimpy service. Wait until you hear this, four separate servers asked for a pepper mill, two were reminded more than once that we still had not seen one. Someone finally brought one to the table just before dessert. Over cooked fish, tough steak with too much sauce. If this is the "next generation", better get your eating out experiences done now, it aint getting any better with this crowd. Please take a look at the photo of the dessert. What exactly is that? Disgusting is what it is. Asked to see a manager or someone with whom we could relate our concern. Once, twice...twenty minutes. Oh, the same process as the pepper mill. No one has heard of it, or in a fine dining restaurant where we train the best of the best, there isnt one. Never saw anyone that night, but got the business card of someone that we could follow up with. Left messages the following day and the day after that. Never got a response. And for all of this terribleness and lack of concern, they charge regular fine dining prices. Our dinner for four was $250 with tip. Did you know that that students at the CIA protested against the administration on 23 April 2013 (we were there last week). They are complaining that the school has dropped their standards. Now everything makes sense. Dont go....and dont be impressed by anyone who was trained there. Let the experience of dining out do the talking. Boy were we mad.

This was terrible. The food was incredibly salty, and it was all salty. Incredibly the salad was salty. My wifes fish was too salty to eat. It was expensive but basically crap. The app was salty. We had to ask three times over a 45 minute period to get a glass of water, in spite of asking every time for sparkling we still wound up with still water. For inedible food and a tiny carafe of wine we wound up paying well over $100. Its not like I went there with an axe to grind, we were super excited and had made reservations a month in advance. We were ready for something great, but it was terrible.

We enjoyed our lunch at American Bounty during our visit to Hyde Park. We were promptly seated at our appointment time. The wait staff was friendly and attentive. The complementary bread was freshly out of the oven. Both appetizers (Pork Belly & Bourbon-Maple Cured Salmon) were nicely done. The Halibut entree was perfectly cooked, moist and flavorful. The only miss was the Grilled Striploin. It looked pink inside, but was not juicy. Also, it was only lukewarm.

Overall a really great experience. I have been to all of the CIA restaurants many times. Unfortunately bc the kitchen and service are both student led - there can be a huge discrepancy in services. The majority of the time my experience has been great but there are still many students who have lots to learn! Administration should try to take some measures to check in on guests to ensure an expensive meal at one of their institutions is undertaken properly.

I feel sorry for the future of fine food in this country if this is the best our student chefs are trained to produce. For example the dinner roles were doughy tasteless white bread. An arugula salad was tired with terrible dressing. My wife left most of it yet the waiter never bothered to ask if anything was wrong. My duck had a quarter inch of fat, the skin was not crisp and it was over salted. I could go on but you get the idea.

Best place to eat when touring this area. It is a hidden gem, as you would not think there would be a public restaurant in this school. It showcases the students and the food is always good. It is a cheaper alternative than the more expensive (and more elegant) French restaurant at the CIA.

Just unbelievable. A gastronomic delight. Pricey, so save for special occasions, but bring your refined appetite. Request wine pairings and youll not be disappointed. Lovely surroundings, too - everyone dressed nicely for a change!

Really good food in a semi-casual atmosphere. The decor could use some updating but if you want to sample some tasty food in a culinary school, this is a good place to do it.

Our green pea soup was extremely acidic… nonetheless, food was pleasant, though nothing to shout about. The service was excellent and atmosphere perfect for a quiet lunch.
