We came here because we kept passing by the place and telling ourselves wed show up. So, a couple nights ago we did. Were glad we did! Our server (whos name I never ended up catching) was fairly attentive in the beginning, lost a bit after food came out. Luckily, the staff as a whole was able to pick up the slack and i was able to get my drink refilled without an issue. The venue is pretty small but has a well-placed mirror that widened the space and actually fooled me and my date for the first 10 minutes or so. The decor is campily Mexican. dolls, banners, barrio pantings, Veracruz dress hanging on the wall. It fits the bill. The best part of the experience was not the food. Everything was done... okay. I got a primo special burrito. And it was pretty good, but the chorizo was so salty I couldnt finish it. The Mexican Rice and beans were great. And the burrito as a whole wasnt bad. But my tongue just couldnt handle the saltiness anymore, I still packed it. I just couldnt do it in one sitting anymore. My Date got chicken enchiladas. Which were decidedly better with the right amount of spices and quacamole and sour cream. My only gripe, is the price. Ive been to a lot Mexican places and their prices were a solid $2-3 more than others offering similar quality and portion sizes. Its not a deal breaker, but it was disheartening.

Finally! Good, authentic Mexican food in WNY!!! I married into a Mexican family from South Texas and I miss my mother-in-laws cooking. Ever since my wife and I moved to Buffalo a few years ago we have had a very difficult time finding anything resembling legit authentic Mexican food. From the decor and the music to the food and the prices, it almost feels like were back in TX. The only thing missing is home made tortillas (really miss that and havent found any yet in WNY). If youre looking for standard Buffalo "Mexican" food with salsa that tastes more like marinara sauce and ingredients from a freezer truck then this is not your place. But if you want something that will make you feel like youre in South Texas go to El Rancharito. ... Oh and they have beer and liquor now (re: last review below).

We had 6pm reservation for 7people (4 adults 3 kids) we were seated at 6:30 after almost being ignored & other tables being sat ahead of us, we ordered food as soon as they took our drink order after our food hadnt come for awhile our waiter assured us our food would be out soon, 4 other tables that were seated way after us received their food before us; my food came out wrong with onions after I told the waiter 5 times no onions. We were never offered an apology or anything for their slowness or our order being lost. I would not suggest this restaurant for a party of more than 2 or 4 people. It was almost 2 hours from the time of our reservation to getting our food. The wait staff was way in over their heads!

Our girl posse met at El Ranchito last night to celebrate a couple birthdays. They were kind enough to let us bring in a cake, and sang Happy Birthday Mexican style, while providing 2 large (very large) Sombreros to our birthday girls. Riaz, our waiter, was absolutely amazing. He was so attentive and such a sweetheart.....Definitely a wonderful experience, and one we will do again! Thank You Riaz! (hopefully Im spelling it right).

Ive been here three times now, all for lunch. Lunch specials are well-priced and the food is excellent. The vegetable fajitas are tasty and a lighter dish if youre looking for that. Definitely try the guacamole azteca - its fabulous! Service is great, all the staff is very friendly and attentive. Theyll even converse with you in Spanish if you want :) Definitely a place to put on your list!

Arguably the best Mexican restaurant in Buffalo, absolutely the best considering the price. Food is wonderful. Staff is super friendly. Place is usually full on the evening/weekends but it never takes more than 15 minutes to get a table (no pagers and waiting an hour here). Its a bit out of the way for me (from Amherst), but absolutely worth going out of your way for.

Took about 20 minutes to get drinks with numerous waitresses walking past ignoring the table. Placed entire order then because who knew when we were getting their attention again. Once food arrived it lacked seasoning and was mediocre. If this is the best Mexican cuisine in the buffalo region then Ill head back the Rochester way. Will not return or recommend.

Lousy food and service. The rice was dry enough to choke a horse. The chicken quesadilla was greasy. The waiter used another drink glass to refill the soda/pop and it splashed onto my sister. Then when he started cleaning up he spilled salsa all over the table and nearly got me! I will never go back to give them a second chance.

This place is one of my go tos for a delicious meal! The food is always hot and always good. Their salsa is amazing, so be warned because you may eat so many chips that you arent hungry when your meal arrives. The service is always speedy, but they are very friendly. I highly recommend the Pollo Con Crema.

Favorite in the area. Small, festive, and really tasty. All the mexican favorites including chille relleno, enchalladas, tacos, mole sauce, etc. Experience all starts with some free salsa and chips. Then get some mexican beer or a margaritta to go with your food. Good service. Good prices... Hidden gem.

The food is authentic and has never once been anything than what i ordered. Clarence itself is an island in the middle of nowhere with few restaurants to call its own, but El Ranchito stands out as a surviving, tasty Mexican restaurant that Id recommend to anyone craving a good quesadilla.

I couldnt tell you how the food tasted because I sat there for a solid 25 minutes waiting for a server and no one came over so we left. It wasnt even busy, there were two or three other parties there. Meanwhile, one of the servers is standing in the corner on his phone.

Love, love, love this place. Authentic Mexican food!! The atmosphere is spot on....... music makes you want to dance, and there is soft chatter from staff in the background in Spanish. Wait..... am I in Mexico???? I certainly dont come here often enough.

Ive been here twice and would consider it very average. It is not what I would consider authentic mexican food. Maybe authentic Mexican-american. The mole is not great. Ive traveled in central america, so I do know buena comida when I find it :)

I cannot get enough of this place!!! It is a weekly stop, and I recommend the Santa Fe Burrito. The churros are excellent as well. We love the staff, always friendly. We think the food and prices are better than La Tolteca...

We stopped in for the first time yesterday and were really impressed - great food in a nicely decorated dining room and friendly, efficient service. We recommend it and we will definitely be back!
