A gem of a find in Bay Ridge. Its a nice space with wonderful attentive service. Loved how the table settings had the decorative sauces and sides presented in wonderful servicing dishes. The food is spot on and delicious. Authentic and flavorful. My go to items would be anything in the Tandor. The tandori chicken was tender with wonderful spices. The saag paneer (spinach and cheese) was spot on. You can tell the ingredients are fresh as the spinach pieces were still very noticeable and leafy. Great veggie dishes as well with the carrots and cauliflower dish with wonderful spices in the sauce. Plenty of complimentary side dishes provided with spicey pickles, cabbage, and a indian cracker. The naan bread was outstanding with a soft chewy interior and and nice exterior cooked up in the tandoor. Its a great place and very authentic. Ill definitely be back.

My best friend and I were just wandering around Bay Ridge when we decided to get Indian food. We didnt know where we were going but we passed so many places en route, each one didnt inspire us. As soon as we spotted the door, we knew that this would be the place. The servers immediately sat us and tended to us. Our glasses of water were never empty. Our food came promptly. Each bite was like heaven. The food was so flavorful. It was just what we wanted. We were both like Bob from the chicken dinner scene in What About Bob? Mmmmmmmm! I immediately came to leave this review. Good doesnt even begin to explain this food. It was magnificent. P.S. The prices were phenomenal. What you get is worth so much more than what you pay. I almost felt like we were robbing them so we left a $20 tip!

Visiting with my son during the holidays, we took a chance on this restaurant. The place is beautifully decorated in a formal setting with white tablecloths, pink cloth napkins, romantic lighting. The menu prices were surprisingly reasonable for what appeared to be an upscale restaurant. We tried the chicken tikka makhni and chicken tikka masala served with white rice and they were delicious! The nan bread tasted like it had just come out of the oven. But what impressed us the most was the service. Polite waiters in crisp white shirts and bow ties refilled our glasses continuously. When our waiter learned it was our first visit, he brought us appetizers and rice pudding dessert on the house. My son and I were very impressed with the food and service and would not hesitate to return.

The service was good and the atmosphere was very relaxing and comfy. Unfortunately, the food was too bland. I went with my wife so I didnt order too much. I always get bhindi masala and a chicken dish when I go to an Indian restaurant. I got the chicken mahkani this time. The chicken makhani was OK but it was lacking in flavor. The bhindi on the other hand, was just awful! The sauce was way too watery. I didnt taste any of the tomatoes or onions in the dish. It was not spicy and it lacked taste. The texture on the bhindi felt all wrong. The texture was more akin to boiled bhindi. I go to an Indian expecting flavorful food but was sadly disappointed at Taj.

Intimate and cozy restaurant offering some delectable south east asian fare. They have a wide array of food to choose from, so fret not if your pescetarian, vegetarian or vegan. I have yet to try one dish from Taj Mahal that I did not enjoy. The food is flavorful and can be made as spicy as youd like. I would recommend the biryani, tikka massala, and tandori dishes. For those nights youd like to stay in, call 20 minutes ahead so you can drive by and pick up your order without the wait time. Note that they offer free valet service on busy nights, i.e. Friday and Saturday.

The food is delicious! Flavors on point! Ive eaten in the restaurant and had wonderful service. Ive had it delivered. Infact, just last night. From the person on the phone to the delivery person everything was done professionally. The delivery person was prompt and courteous. The food was neat and everything I asked for was included. Especially all the extra sauces and other tidbits they give you. It is August 2017. This is recent. Great place! Great food! The only problem is.... I cant stop eating lol

-No customer care at all. -Very Rude and none of the food served had an authentic taste of indian food . -Horrible experience with the staffs currently employed there. -ZERO stars. -Such restaurants are a shame to Indians and indian food. -They should send their staffs to some customer care sessions and try to teach their cooks indian cooking rather than discriminating customer and showing racism while serving them and manipulating the recipe of our traditional dishes to taste like American dishes.

I almost always order for delivery from this place rather than dining in, though Ive been there in person a couple of times. Of the Indian options in the neighborhood, this is definitely my favorite even if I wish it were just a touch cheaper. The chicken biryani is fantastic and comes in such a large portion that I can get a couple more meals out of the leftovers. I also love their samosas and the vindaloo is pretty good too. Friendly service, nothing to complain about.

This is a very nice place. I am giving it four stars, rather than five, because it is nothing out of the ordinary. I liked the food and the atmosphere, and have been there more than once. The staff is also nice, and the prices are good. Nothing really stands out, but I do recommend it for a solid meal and a nice night out. You cant go wrong dining at this fine establishment that has been at this location for quite some time.

Pretty good restaurant. Perfect place for a date. I tried the vegetable vindaloo and it wasnt all that great but quite eatable. I have had food here before and some of the other non-veg dishes tasted better. Theres not much variety in vegetarian food but plenty in non-vegetarian food. The waiters are very polite. The price is pretty good. They even serve a complimentary dessert after you eat. Overall, 4 stars.

Been eating here since 1993 after getting turned on to their former Manhattan location by a friend. It is the only Indian restaurant that I go back to time and time again. I believe they are the best in the Tri-State area, as Ive tried many others in NJ, NY, and CT and across the U.S. I can say with confidence that Taj Mahal will be my favorite Indian restaurant until the end!

The service is excellent. Never will your water glass be empty. The food is superb with the curry dishes served in copper bowls, making them easy to share. It is a great place to go with a small group. Entrees usually run less than 12 dollars and the special breads are less than 4. After dinner, the staff offered us a complimentary coconut custard. Yummy.

Being british, ive been consistently disappointed with indian food ive had in the US since moving here. Taj Mahal is like being back home again - strong tastes, excellent cooking, good varied menu, and good specials. Its only taken me seven years and trying 40 different places, but I finally found an Indian takeaway in America that is as good as in England.
