We were driving down Route 22 last night thinking about where to go for dinner. I wasnt much help as Im completely unfamiliar with restaurants in Brewster. My girlfriend, who was driving, said "What about this place?" as she made the knee-jerk decision to turn into the driveway of Las Mañanitas. She doesnt usually go for Mexican, but since I grew up in Northern California, Im pretty much always up for Mexican, Chinese or both, so I figured, "why not?" We thought the decor and ambiance was very nice -- a roaring fire on a cold-ish winter night. Wish we had come during the day when we could see the view. Service was good though as others have pointed out, several people take care of each table, seemingly at random, so things could fall through the cracks. But everyone worked really hard to do a good job. Food was very competent and fresh. In particular, the flan was homemade and didnt taste like powdered mix from a box. Thats my acid test for South-of-the-Border cuisine as I spent several years of my childhood in a Spanish-speaking country and only had the good homemade stuff as a kid. The enchiladas I had (I wasnt feeling particularly adventurous) that night were good, and sauces tasted homemade, which is kind of a rarity; red sauce often tastes just like it does at the last 34 Mexican restaurants Ive dined at, straight out of the big Sysco Institutional Food Services can. My girlfriend had the veggie fajitas, which she really liked. The tab was a bit more than the standard hole-in-the-wall Mexican place but I thought it was good value for money. Id add this to the list for occasions that are more special than "Im too tired to cook." And Ill make sure to come back in the summer when I can check out the water view.

The grounds are beautiful ... Sunday dining sucks, tight crammed corners. Things to know before you go..... The restraunt is near a resivor and very serene ... There is outdoor seating upon availability...and weather permitting The prices are fair, but significantly higher on a weekend. Weekends are loud, busy croweded and if you actucally relax after a meal they will come and ask you to leave. Kid you not. The service is okay. Staff is attentive but gets annoyed easily if you ask for clean silverware or. Clean dishes. The environment is VERY rushed on the weekends(Sunay) The hostess is rude , very rude The plates 4x were dirty with debris, remaining food The water is horrible. The waiter explained "there is something wrong with the water", but could not identify what. Many ppl had to send drinks back that were "mixed"with the house (tap water) This is the second time the resturat did not have a certain item or several that are offered on menu.. The Peach Sangria is good Drinks are pricy The food is good Service is rushed Parking is rough terrain We had been here, one other time, this is our second time. The first time was a weekday and it was fine. Service was good, food, was good, drinks were good. This time around, it was a very unpleasent experience. As indicated, above, dishes were dirty, dirty plates remained stacked on table. The waiter was cleaning table without us being done eating and we were still at table. Kids were running around while others ate... We had just finished eating , paid bill and was literally finishing up to leave and the hostess asked us to leave because they "needed" table, however there were plenty of other tables EMPTY. We were rushed entire time.

Worst experience I have ever had. I went last night for a friends birthday party. The treatment we received was abysmal. My friend had reservations (more than a week in advance) and they didnt seem to be prepared for us. They kept sending us off to the bar and moving us when they sat us. It took us over an hour to even get our order taken. I have a severe food allergy and asked specifically what the chicken was cooked in - they told me some salt and pepper and onions. Come to find out that wasnt true / it is marinaded in something Im allergic to, which I was super clear about, and I would up going into mild anaphylaxis. When my husband brought it up to the manager, he became combative, offered to rectify the situation by singing "happy birthday" and told us he didnt have time to talk to us. He then told us we were being aggressive and told us to leave. Any restaurant that calls themselves "fine dining" should cook to order or should know what they serve in their food. I have never been treated so poorly at a restaurant in my entire life. Allergy or not, the food wasnt even that great. I am beyond disappointed. I am used to high end restaurants that use quality ingredients and treat me with respect. I left embarrassed, sick, and was sleepless last night because of their ineptitude. I have also never been mocked by someone who says to be the owner of a business. It was mortifying and I left there almost in tears. I will never recommend this place to anyone.

Was my favorite spot until i went there on my birthday & my parents asked them to sing happy birthday to me and give me one of those big hats as soon as we got there (i didnt want it but my parents wanted it) Before i get there i ended up getting really car sick because we had driven 3 hours prior to getting there so i didnt order any big meal because i didnt want to throw up everywhere and i had just finished throwing up before even getting there... So we are already half way through the meal and still no happy birthday candle or song.... Finally our waiter came over to us and said sorry we have no more candles... HOW IN THE WORLD DOES A RESTAURANT THIS BIG THAT APPARENTLY DOES VERY WELL HAVE NO CANDLES...I had overheard the manager tell our waiter that he didnt want to do it for us because i didnt order any food and because my mom ended up sharing with my grandmother because the plates are huge. Right after that they began to sing happy birthday to somebody right next to us. i couldnt believe the discrimination. My mom said something to the manager and he admitted to lying about the candles..So basically he was mad we didnt order a tremendous amount of food until the bill was at 200$ so i couldnt get a happy birthday or a candle... wow & the manager was laughing until we walked out. AS they continued to sing happy birthday to others.

PROS: We were seated right away and were brought our drinks and chips/salsa quickly. CONS: Parking is awful. We were sat at a table that was so jammed between a wall and an aisle that people walking by literally could not avoid touching the table and having to squeeze by. Really annoying when you are eating. Food was tasteless and overpriced. I had steak and my husband had paella. Both lacked any flavor at all. We had three different people helping us, so who do you tip and how much? Save some money and go to Fiesta; it blows this place away even though it is the same owner. I dont care if its in a shopping plaza. I dont go out to eat to look at the scenery; I want good food. Over $90 for 4 drinks and two entrees that were below average was a complete waste of money. We wont be back.
