7/2/2013 6:30 PM This being the 3rd time I would be at this restaurant (the first 2 times food was awesome) I talked my friends into going here! My mistake the food was AWFUL the worst, I ordered a taco salad (which I had had before) and it had 1/2 inch of water in it there was only taco meat (which tasted like dog food) lettuce and tomatoes with a very small dollop of guacamole last time I had this same dish there were onions, black olives and I was also served salsa with this. Taco salad was inedible besides the face it showed up 15 min before everyone elses food . The 3 others that were with me ordered steak and shrimp 2 of the plates each got 4 shrimp and the other got 5 not enough for the price, the steaks were suppose to be rib eye but it was carne asada very thin and not good tasting. The steak for one of my friends was too tough to chew. We did complain to the management and she took the cost of 1 dinner off but ignored the fact that all of the meals were not edible. We had also ordered Guacamole, jalapenos, and tortillas to snack on before the meal and none if it ever showed up. The waiter avoided out table like we had the plegue and when we finaly did get his attention he still didnt bring what we asked for. Very Very bad service!! I will NEVER NEVER go back to Rancho Viejo Mexican Restaurant again and if you are looking for suggestions I would suggest you not even bother going there you get better more "authentic" mexican food going to Taco Bell and I dont even like Taco Bell!!!! Stay away far far away!!!!

Prior to this last visit, we had good food and service which moved us to choose this site for my daughters 15th birthday. We had about 100 people, including children. They did not provide us with enough space or seating. Our food was not ready on time. Some of our guests waited 2-3 hours for their plate of carne asada. It was overcooked and dry. My guests were given plastic tableware, They could not even cut the meat. In one case, they asked for knives and were told: THEY WERE BEING SAVED FOR THE PAYING CUSTOMERS! We had 2 hours of open bar. They did not tell our guests about this, and, some of our guests did not even get their complimentary drinks. The head table was too small. I NEVER had a place to sit. My daughter and her damas were served last! They never gave me time to decorate. I put out the adornos while the guests were sitting there already. There were other people sitting in our area dining. What a MESS! At the end of it all, they had us pay in cash, charged us tax, and demanded a 20% tip! You know they are not going to report that on their income tax for 2012! Plus, they spoiled my babys 15th!! ;(...

Went there on Valentines Day with my wife to try a local eating establishment, while passing through Batavia. Looking for something different than regular fare. Saw this and went there. Unfortunately love must have made me deaf as I did not hear the music being played until after we had sat down and asked what we wanted to drink. Only then did I notice the VERY LOUD DJ and the music he was playing. Got out my decibel reader and when he talked it registered over 100db, the music was between 82-87db. Did not enjoy the evening at all with this music and having talked with the server, he also agreed it was very loud. She had the cat fish and asked if they could sub more beans for the rice, which they did and I had chicken with shrimp and grilled onions. The Onions were too salty, there was a white base on the platter, dried salt. I could finish my dinner but the catfish did not get finished . When I was asked how the meal was and I said the onions were too salty, the waiter said thank you. We will not be going back because of the loud music and the liberal use of salt.

Been to this restaurant a number of times, and it was decent. On February 19, 2014, I visited for lunch, and was horrified to bite into something hard a few bites into my taco salad. I spit out 2 pieces of what appeared to be a broken plate. The waiter and then manager did not seem fazed or seem to care. Not even an apology, just an unenthusiastic offer to choose something else on the menu on the house. I declined as I had lost my appetite and decided to never visit again. Comically, right before the manager got to our table, I heard a plate break in the kitchen. The manager told me it was not possible to have broken plate in my meal. Not sure how he arrived at that conclusion as I presented him with the pieces of plate. I understand mistakes happen, but the lack of a sincere apology (heck, any apology) will prevent me from patronizing Ranch Viejo ever again.

I will say the food was decent. Review is new but we went 3 times within the past few years. EVERY time several hours later severe cramps and runs... food poisioning? Who knows just that havent been there since because of it! They are at the old Ponderosa restaurant now and before were up the street and both loctions gave us the stomach issues. Reading good reviews lately and love mexican food so willing to try again BUT if diarrhea hits again we will notify the health department... of course there are the jokes about heading to the boarder after eating mexican food but there is a mexican restaurant in Buffalo on NiagfallsBlvd that we never get those cramps from. Service is usually not great because its authentic restaurant and mexican staff but that is quite all right with us.

Was seated and not one waiter or waitress came to get out drink order.. They werent even short handed or busy.. The entire staff stood there joking playing and goofing off ... Until on of the waiters noticed we had no drinks and I was giving dirty looks ... And sent someone over who relluctently took our order.. When my childrens food came it was wrong.. Not just for one of them.. Both orders.. And it was sent back .. When my plate came it was fine except missing one of the main ingredients of that meal.. The shrimp.. Needless to say no tip was left.. Wish someone would teach these people real customer service.. Especially the teens and owners daughters.. Who do hardly anything but flirt with other servers and giggle and goof off!!!!

The host was great. Very friendly and seated us right away. The restaurant was pretty empty when we got there, so we figured our waiter would be very attendant, and he started off being that way. We both ordered taco salads, and when they came out, the shells were black. The plate was scorching hot, but the foot inside the bowl was barely lukewarm. The waiter neglected us once he brought the food, and another waiter had to go find him after we sat there for 10 minutes waiting on the check. I was looking forward to finding a good Mexican restaurant in Batavia, but after this experience, I will not be returning!
