Hello, I am very annoyed and disappointed with the treatment we received when we arrived to the Westwood, NJ location last night. My friends and I arrived at 10:15 pm right behind a couple and when we walked in the wait staff (Caucasian male) was walking towards them to tell them how long they would have to wait because he didn’t have any tables available at that moment. He walked passed and never greeted us. I started to say hello and he turned his head in another direction as to pretend that he didn’t see us standing there. We sat down and looked over at the bar and it appeared that he was speaking to the manager who then came by 3 minutes later, greeted us and proceeded to assist the couple and had them seated right away. He then addressed us and said that they close at 11pm and my reply was “I know we came in at the same time as the couple you just seated.” He said that it may be a wait. I knew better because while he was speaking to us a party of 5 had just got up and left. I proceeded to tell the manager that we traveled from a long distance and that we arrived in due time and asked him if they really expect to close precisely at 11pm with all customers gone at that time. He replied, “Yes”. He mumbled something to me and I asked him to repeat himself. He said, “I can seat you but I only have dessert left we don’t have any more food.” He never said that to the couple that he seated before us. I understand that it was near the end of the night but we arrived in due time to be seated and served. Never have I ever been treated that way and told such crap! I would also like to note that while he was speaking to us a waitress (African American lady) greeted us warmly as she walked towards him. We were truly disappointed with this brief experience and I hope race was not an ugly factor in this situation as the couple that was seated who arrived at the same time we did were Caucasian and we were African American. I have always had a wonderful experience at The Melting Pot (Edgewater-2011 / Atlantic City-2012), but will never return to the Westwood, NJ location which is 30-45min away. I will definitely share this review with everyone I know.

Dont let the fact that you have to "cook your own food" deter you from this great restaurant! If you can dip a chip into salsa, you can eat at the melting pot. Also, dont think that there is NO behind-the-scenes work here, the meat is sitting in irresistible marinades, waiting to be devoured; its not plain by any means. The salads are beautifully prepared, the cheese is fantastic, and the desserts are heavenly. Great family restaurant, and "lovers lane" (an aisle of secluded booths) is a great date night spot, away from the unruly children and their absentee parents. Last, and most important, the service: each server busts his/her hump running to each table, helping each customer with their dining experience. Not only are they well educated on the food and drink, but they know how long you should cook each dish. If you want a great server, ask for LUKE.

Love this place for nights out with my wife, and when my parents come visit. Not for little ones, IMHO, both due to atmosphere and safety (though as with many things, it doesnt stop anyone). Food amazing, I try to repplicate their sauces when cooking for holidays (we have fondue on Christmas Eve), theyre also great resources for taking the ppunge into trying something new. I just cant understand giving them a low score because you were ignorant, though acknowledge they were nice...

We had a great experience for our anniversary. We started with a cheese fondue and skipped right to a chocolate fondue for desert. Both were terrific. The Melting Pot is a welcome change from your regular run of the mill restaurant. The decor is very nice and the tables have little stoves in the middle to keep the fondues hot and flavorful.

Treated my mom,and girls out for mothers day. Thought the price was a bit much for the small amount of food. Seem like the idea is to fill the patron up with loads of bread. The environment was clean ,serene. Was definitely a different experience.

A well made atmosphere with the smell of quality cheese and wine to fill your heart. A bit pricey but the apline fondue with the cured meat and dessert fondue is a good combo.

This is one of the older restaurants in westwood that are tired and old. They dont compare with grange or mezza around the corner that offer a better dining experience.

The prices are absurd for a place that makes you cook your own food. Its only worth it for the cheese fondue and chocolate fondue.

the food is delicious, but for the same price this location gives you half the food of any other restaurant in the chain.
