DONT go to this restaurant unless you just want really good sushi or food! The food is so delicious, almost irresistable, but the staff is so RUDE and NOT helpful at all! They dont care AT ALL when a customer is hurting someone or stealing their purse or anything like that! I came here with my dad, and there was this bad guy sitting at the table next to us! I got up to go to the bathroom, with my dad already being in the bathroom, and I had my purse with me. That man then told me to give him my purse, and when I said no, he came over to me and SNATCHED my purse while GRABBING me by my wrist, almost breaking it! It REALLY HURT, and I was struggling to get my purse back while SCREAMING and CRYING for someone to step in and help me! Well guess what! 2 of the waiters saw the WHOLE thing, but they couldnt have cared less! I was expecting them to walk over to this guy and stop him and/or call the police, but instead, they just stood there and stared with NO reaction or anything, not even a shocked or worried look on either of their faces or anything! They just stood there like they didnt care at all, even though he was stealing my purse and could have broken my wrist! I then had it and let go of the purse, letting him have it, and when I ran past those 2 waiters CRYING MY EYEBALLS OUT, NEITHER of them asked me whats wrong or if im okay/alright or anything! They STILL had no reaction from what happened! My dad eventually came out of the bathroom, and I told him everything! He went over to that guy and got my purse back! My DAD was the ONLY one who helped me the slightest bit! He also lectured the guy! I did get my purse back, but even after the incident, the waiters still didnt care or react or anything! They didnt even call the police to come and arrest the guy! They just continued on with their day! Those 2 waiters were both YOUNG too, so maybe thats why they didnt care! Gosh, people can be so mean! I recommend the food here, but if you want nice, friendly service, go somewhere else, like Surf Taco, or find another restaurant!

To go into the details of how chill & unpretentious the old Downtown Cafe was is a moot point. What was once my favorite bar in town (yes, Im a local for six years) has become the bar I despise, cringe, and convince my friends to go elsewhere to catch up. The new manager is pompous and contagiously affecting every aspect of the bars atmosphere I use to love. Youll be greeted by this attitude as soon as you attempt to step through the doorway whereby you experience the long, undeserving line and an attitude by the bouncers (bouncers..wait, where are we again?). The bar staff is pretty cool - D is my favorite. The food is mediocre & uncreative. Finally, dont attempt to host a party here - its overpriced and disappointing. If you want a good cocktail - go to Jamians, Taste, Teak, and even Red (which is surprisingly owned by the same uptight management). You can take my word... or any of the other 21 entries who hate this place.

Worst customer service..... Ive been to The Downtown several times and wont be returning. We stood outside for a while waiting to get in (no big deal) but a bus rolled up and the people inside expected to get in because they were a big party. The bouncer told them no, but because they complained loudly and would not get in line they were let in in front of us, even though the place was supposedly at capacity. Drinks are pretty expensive, the downstairs gets really crowded. Another half hour line to get upstairs, and then a $10 cover. The band is always pretty good, the crowd is eh. Never mind the fact that my bag was taken with my car keys and phone inside and regardless of how many emails or phone calls I made to the place, none of the managers could bother to respond a simple answer of whether or not they had it in the office. Its not worth the wait, the expense, the crowd, the cover, or the poor customer service.

If I have a choice I will never set foot in this place again! The bartenders upstairs were wasted (I watched them do shots) and too busy dancing and flirting with certain patrons to wait on the 2 deep crowd of people around the bar waving money. After waiting 10 minutes I got a drink only to be charged $11 for it! I switched to draft beer and thats $5?! Closing out my tab at the end of the night was another fiasco. All in all avoid this place or at least the upstairs bar!

prices match the food youre getting , the mixed drinks are good as well , the atmosphere is fun as well friendly people work there , my favorite is the fried chicken bites they are always juicy and its hard to find juicy fried chicken the grilled pizza is fantastic , soups are always great . the live music is always fun aswell as the upstairs dance floor . Perfect for weddings and parties as well as kid friendly .

Ive been coming here for years. Never once have I had bad service, not one bad drink, not one bad meal. Overall, greatest spot in town and never lets me down. The Downtown crew is attentive and always willing to help, even when they are beyond busy. Highly recommend The Downtown on any occasion for any celebration, even if its because its Friday. Cheers!

Stopped in for lunch a week or so back. Reuben special was pretty good and reasonably priced considering portion and quality. Domestic draught beer on the other hand, was crazy expensive. Somehow other bars within a block manage to pay the bills selling the same brand and size for half the price. $2 draughts would fill every seat in the joint daily.

A very pleasant bar. During warm days they open the large windows and sitting there close to the street is very nice. The service was extremely friendly. I didnt really had any drinks here, it was a late night snack and the food was really good. Definitely would come back.

Solid enough place to catch a game with a drink during the day into the dinner hours, but turns "bro" after about 9pm. If thats your taste, its a good bar (read: club) to hit in the late hours, though not many drink specials from what Ive seen.

Very good ambiance, good food and popular with the locals. But the service is consistently poor. One waitress and one bartender for the entire restaurant, even if bar and restaurant are full. Spend the money and hire more people please.

The downstairs is a normal great bar with great service. Rache the bartender was amazing and on point with service...the updates with the live band was great... sometimes its a hit or miss but for the most part its great....I recommend

Just spent $80 on a soggy sandwich, drinks with bruised fruit, and to watch my bartender on her cellphone while we had three empty glasses right in front of her! We came here because we thought it was supposed to be nice!!
