"we tried the grand cafe many many years ago when it first opened but never returned. we decided to go again to sit outside on the new ""grand allee"" which borders a new town park, enjoying the last summer-like evening of the season. the service is ""relaxed"". we were served water, wine, and two rounds of bread before the menus arrived. but the evening and view were so lovely we didnt care too much. be forewarned that the menu and the wine list are pricey. however, we ordered two specials, and they were both well done and delicious: roast duck with bing cherry sauce, rice pilaf, and chestnut puree; and branzino with crab risotto and roasted asparagus. we passed on dessert, but they served us a complimentary dish of small cookies - a nice touch."

This place is like walking onto the set of Grand Hotel many decades ago. Just darling. It was really cold that night and we asked to sit by the fireplace, glorious. Real roses on all the tables and our servers beautiful French accent added to our experience. :) I wasnt exceptionally hungry so I ordered the Warm Brie Salad. It was excellent! The accompanying dressing was champagne grape vinaigrette. I would buy it by the bottle if I could. My friend ordered the pork chop--a huge portion--and tried a little. It was excellent too.

Went to this place at 9:15pm. Although the place closes at 11:30pm, they claimed they stop serving dinner at 9pm!!!! I didnt believe the guy, at all. I actually believe it was because half of our party was African-American (there was only 4 in our party before anyone tries to say it was because of the number of people). They do not ever have to be concerned that I will come here again! Happy to spend my $ elsewhere!

We go out a lot, and we still have not found anything that performs as well as The Grand Cafe! It is a classic establishment, but the food is innovative. Always new items each time we go with those classic favorites still there. The service is professional but not overbearing. It is not cheap but you never feel like you are getting ripped off like at some other restaurants of its caliber. Get the souffle for dessert!

I went for dinner last evening and was very disappointed The bread was hard and tasteless ! We had to wait one hour just to get our appetizers !! Once we placed our order we never saw our waiter again until our appetizers came. Main course was fair. Dessert also was average. Very disappointed and by the way not worth the expense of our dinner. Sorry to say I will never return. This is not fine dining.
